  1. I purchased the kids drink package for my 3 grandchildren a few months ago. I ordered it before the cruise so they had a soda logo on their cards and could get drinks whenever they wanted. The price of the package was worth it. The cost was about the same as two drinks per day. If they had more, we were not paying extra.

We shut off any spending on the seapass. If they wanted something else they would have to ask us. However, the card will work in the arcade. I told each child they could do $20.00 in the arcade, and if the money ran out, they were not to keep going, but ask us first. We did not have a problem. No one asked for more arcade time. They were busy with other things.

    I hope this helps.

  2. I can't address Carnival, but recently took my grandchildren on Adventure of the Seas. The kids were 6, 8, and 10. There were lots of activities, the pool slide, basketball, mini golf, arcade, games and crafts. They met many other children and loved going to Adventure Ocean or "kids club" as they called it. The staff was excellent and one of the highlights was pirate night.

This was their first cruise and they told me before we left they did not want to go to the "kids club." I think they thought it would be very structured like camp. My daughter insisted they at least try it, and if they didn't like it, fine. Well, we could not drag them out. They went every night after dinner and wanted to stay until midnight. One night, before a sea day, we let them stay that late.

I suggest you post on the Carnival board to see what feedback you get on their children's program. Good Luck.

  3. I am thinking of booking a 2016 cruise on Jewel. Looking for an oceanview cabin, mid-ship. I know the Centrum is on Deck 4, but night noise won't bother me. I stay out late.

If the shops and photo gallery are on deck 5, will I hear a lot of noise in the morning?

If you have recently cruised on Jewel and stayed on deck 4 what was your experience?

  4. I just cruised on Adventure in mid February. I had been on this ship before four or five years ago. Overall it was in good shape. There was some peeling paint around the hot tubs, but not enough to keep me out of them.

My biggest concern was the sewage smell on embarkation day and in our first two ports. Lower decks near the back of the ship were awful. The smell did not get into the cabins. While at sea there was no problem. I have no idea why this occurred or if it happens on other ships.

On another note, I felt there was not enough staff in certain venues. When the Schooner Bar was crowded it was difficult to get a drink. All the staff worked hard and did everything they could to keep us happy. One cruiser told me that a few weeks before we sailed many crew members were transferred to Quantum and not replaced. Don't know if this is true, but having cruised every year on RCCL (for seven years in a row), it was the first time I felt there was not enough staff.

  5. I have just made it to platinum and believe I qualify for some kind of balcony discount when I book my next cruise. Does anyone know the amount of the discount? Also, does it show up automatically after you book, or while you are booking? If you book on a sale where second passenger is half price and you get onboard credit, do you still get the discount?

    Seasoned cruisers help me out.

  6. I just received an e-mail telling me my check in time for my cruise is at 5:00pm. I am going to arrive in Puerto Rico the day before the cruise. I have

always been able to check in early. If I arrive at noon will there be a problem or will I be able to check in?

I am gold have taken four cruises before this one. I can say that this will be a deal breaker if I can't check in. What do you think?

    Please let me know.

  7. I've cruised three times during the Super Bowl. The game was on in all the bars, and on the big screen in the theater. At the back of the theater there was plenty of typical super bowl food, hot dogs, burgers, nachos etc. No free drinks.

Last year on the Jewel, there were raffles held when there were breaks in the game. We couldn't get commercials so the staff used this time to entertain us. Some of the prizes were pretty good. The last thing raffled was an all access pass.

    Have fun!

  8. I sailed on Adventure a few years ago and loved it. I am booked for Feb. and really looking forward to it. I don't need to add anything about ports etc. as you already got some good info from others.

This year I am taking my family with us. We also have an oceanview room with four in it, two adults and two kids. When I return in late Feb. I'll post how the sleeping conditions, luggage storage etc. worked out.

  9. Hi Everyone: I'll be sailing in Feb. with our family, four adults and three kids. We have early seating in the MDR. Our cabins are linked, so I assume we will all be together at dinner. Do you think we will have our own table, or will they seat others with us? I don't mind others joining us, but I think there are many people who do not want to sit with kids. Has anyone had experience with something like this?

Also, on other cruises, namely the Serenade and the Jewel, the schooner bar was awesome. It was very big and comfortable. On Adventure it is small. Any suggestions where we could go to get a pre-dinner drink in a less crowded venue. We are gold members (make it to the next level after this cruise).

  10. My grandkids will be cruising with us in Feb. and would like to try snorkeling. They are good swimmers. Is there somewhere you can rent snorkel equipment or should we buy some before the cruise? Since they will only snorkel in two ports (if they like it), I don't know if it is worth purchasing the equipment. Also, if you can rent, any idea of the price?

  11. I have sailed on three cruises during Super Bowl. They were all southern Caribbean, Serenade, Jewel and Adventure. The game was on the big screen in the theater. We saw the whole game, but no commercials. A super bowl "feast" was set up behind the seats, nachos, hamburgers, hot dogs, etc.

On one of the cruises a raffle was held almost every time there was a time out, or commercial break.

On one cruise they changed formal night, but on another they kept formal night, so I can't be much help with this.

Have fun and enjoy the game.

  12. Thanks for all your replies.

    Shelley61, your photo is awesome!

Maybaybie10, I would love an ornament or a cruise compass. I would gladly pay for anything purchased as well as cost of mailing. But, I don't know how we would contact one another privately. I don't want to post personal info on these boards. If anyone has an idea, let me know.

  13. DH and I are taking our children and grandchildren on a cruise in Feb. The kids know about it, but not the grandchildren. I want to surprise them at Christmas. I'm making a little packet about the ship, the ports, etc. Can anyone tell me where to get a good photo of Adventure. I am looking for one just of the ship? Thanks.

  14. Has anyone stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott in Isle Verde, Carolina. My daughter and her children are looking for a nice hotel for two days, post cruise. She has enough points to book this. Just looking for info from those who might have stayed there. Thanks.

  15. I never heard this song on the ship, but as a retired teacher I know a number of wash your hands songs. Our favorite was called "tops and bottoms". If you go to you tube and type in wash your hands songs, a few videos come up with a number of songs. Perhaps the one you are looking for is there.
