Don’t get me wrong, we had a great time. We always do. You just have to have an open mind and you’ll be fine. Just keep expectations low.

I love your attitude, BUT at Celebrity’s prices not pleased. We love cruising, are Elite plus so have a fair amount of times X, including in April, but we are probably doing a land resort late this summer instead of the cruise we had planned.

Can you order room service when you first board for lunch?  Or is there a set time when it starts?

it doesn’t start until 5 pm n embarkation day. It also ends at 1 am on debarkation day.

Not sure about E class , i wont be on until Feb and i cant get a reservation before 8:30/9:00.   I am currently on Equinox and have anytime dining. I made a reservation for a specific time each night, but when I showed up at the dining room, they told me my reservation didnt mean anything and I had to wait in line to be seated with all the other guests ahead of me.  I did go see them next day and they said there is no separate line for anyone with reservations and to forget about my reservation and just show up and wait with everyone else.   Fortunately we eat early(530) and have not had much of a wait time

That is not acceptable for a line trying to promote itself as “luxury”. So disappointing after well over a dozen Celebrity cruises. If our April cruise isn’t up to expectations, we will cancel three future cruises and shift to another line. As e

Elite plus, that would be sad. But we care about the value received for our money.

Does this mean the pork and beans will look like they can right out of a can?😁

I suspect some of you are kidding about the “pork ‘N beans” on the menu, but some folks may believe the tales of hot dogs and canned beans. IIn reality, Celebrity is having a bit of fun with you with the name. That menu item actually is pork tenderloin and Tuscan white beans with kale. Pretty tasty, I thought.

Agree about quantifiable numbers vs rants. But ignoring social media trends on various topics is certainly missing out on datapoints...

I would also agree that the sample size here is small...

The sample size of CC may be small, but we are the ones who care enough to post; others just fade away if they dislike the changes, on any cruise line.

You would move to Oceania over a room service fee?

of course not, if was the only issue! but you must be a cheerleader if you think think that is the only cutback of significance. But at some point, we should all consider moving up if Celebrity starts buckle and dining us like RCCL. We are just about there, sadly.

Good question but before you jump ship, peruse the boards of a few other lines, there is a growing common thread.  I’m finding that for my $$ I just shop around and find what seems best for me knowing nothing is going to be 100% perfect on the lines that I will consider.

understood, but there are many land/resort vacations that offer as much or more value. The cruise lines should pause a bit because many of us will stop patronizing them if they continue to treat us so disrespectfully and just do land resorts. The BS factor on cruises is getting too high.

California, like most of the US, would be WAYYYY into Level 4 territory if the CDC had such warnings for US states. Don't cancel your cruise.

i don’t mean to be rude, but that doesn’t make sense. Just because the same standards should be applied within the US doesn’t negate the need for them elsewhere.

Yes, the CDC has had many issues in their messaging, way too many, but all of us should remember they are scientists and medical professionals, not politicians and spin masters. As such, they say what they think at any one time, even if it changes the next hour. Smart alec comments just show the speakers lack of sophistication, not that the CDC is deficient.

Just to set the record straight, "Petri dish" is in every third comment. And I don't NYT bash normally.

That is not the NYT’s fault, though, is it? I am darned tired of the phrase, too, but let’s not blame the media source.

Well, you won't be cruising any time soon, as the logistics of real time verification of vaccination status of passengers from around the world are far beyond the capability of Celebrity or any other cruise line.

If they verified them in advance, it wouldn’t be a huge problem, as in when the Booking was made. But regardless, we are making other vacation plans for now as I know people lie about their vax status and I simply don’t care to be in a somewhat confined space with such folks, especially with the Delta variant raging in some Midwest and southern areas. But as I said, I wish all who do cruise a safe, carefree and wonderful time!

Celebrity states: "NOTICE: Proof of vaccination will be recorded and may be reviewed for signs of fraud. Unauthorized use of an official government agency seal such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention seal is a federal crime, and will be reported to the relevant government authorities."

yeah, that’s what I was concerned about - a huge hole that allows the deliberately unvaccinated to lie and likely get away with it. Drat - we really miss cruising, have had 2 canceled. But we won’t cruise unless we are sure the lines actually verify passengers’ vax status. For those of you who are willing to cruise anyway, I hope you all have a fabulous time and hope we feel comfortable joining in the fun soon!

I happily sent it.  I can’t wait to cruise. Went to Disney World, no problem.  Flew on airplane, no problem.  Drove to Key West, no problem.  Get it?  Can do any other travel.  Why not cruise?  Had both shots two months ago.  Time to cruise.

i “get it,” we all do, we all don’t, however, all agree. It is terrific that you traveled and didn’t get sick - yeah you - but your experience is merely anecdotal, not data based.

SW Air is still skipping middle seating..hope that helps when we fly on Nov 15th from NY to Fl .  Not crazy about flying but we decided driving  for 2 days not very appealing either.  We will continue to self isolate when we get there except for getting groceries  and take out dinners.  Hope to walk outdoors in the sunshin

Hope things improve as folks pitch in to lower the upward trends.

actually, Southwest is now selling all seats.

The reality is that you're just as likely to get Covid at the grocery store as you are anywhere else. Wearing a mask helps but when everyone is touching everything it sort of defeats the purpose.

More important than a vaccine is a cure. Once we have a well established cure in place and readily available it will be just another version of the flu. Even now, we're seeing death rates around 1-2%. Countries in Europe like Italy are at 0.6% mortality rate.

Work on increasing the accuracy of those 15 minute Covid tests and make everyone take one before they get on the ship. That's plenty.

actually, that’s not accurate information. You are quite unlikely to get COVID from touching surfaces and being in the grocery store as long as you and others are masked. That’s been established for some time.

It's very insulting to word it that way - "living in fear in our basement".  Many people on these boards are at high risk - age, underlying conditions, etc..  They may very well need to "lose a year" of their lives in order to continue living at all!  I personally know someone who has died from the virus, as well as a couple people who have spent weeks in the hospital suffering severely.  Do what you want with cruising, but in the future please consider your wording as not everyone is dealing with the same issues as you are (or are not).

I agree. Just because someone feels safe going out to restaurants, there is no reason to insult the rest of us, Terrydx, if we don’t. You have zero reason to question our choices or to slam us by intimating we are living in basements. Sheesh, dude, this is a cruising site, not a political one.

    1)  Are passengers "kudos-ing" them with their refunds/compensation?

    2)  Was the occupancy too low?

    3)  Did too many ports, including embarment/disembarkmetn ports, cancel?

    4)  Did their legal staff convince them their liability risk was too high?

    Viking:

    ...

Therefore, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily suspend operations of our river and ocean vessels embarking from March 12 to April 30, 2020 – at which time we believe Viking will be in a better place to provide the experiences our guests expect and deserve. This is a decision we made with a heavy heart, but with present circumstances what they are, we are unable to deliver the high-quality Viking experience for which we are known.

For those guests whose cruise falls within this window of suspended operations, we are offering the choice of a Future Cruise Voucher valued at 125% of all monies paid to Viking or a refund equal to the amount paid. Guests will have 24 months to use their Future Cruise Voucher to make a new reservation on any river, ocean or expedition cruise. For additional flexibility, if you are unable to use your voucher, we will automatically send you a refund equal to the original amount paid to Viking after the voucher expires. These Future Cruise Vouchers will also be fully transferable.

Rest assured, our reservations team is currently in the process yof issuing Future Cruise Vouchers of 125% of all monies paid to Viking. However, if you would prefer the alternative please call Viking at 1-833-900-0951 or contact your Travel Agent by March 25, 2020.

does that answer your snarky questions?  Pretty responsible stance, I think.
