  1. We are in process of booking a charter with Wrangell departing Copper Center 9:15 and then with SEAG a private 1/2 day glacier hike (a tiny bit abbreviated) and the town tour at 3:30. Departing McCarthey at 7:30. I'm willing to bet we aren't paying a ton more than a Princess excursion would cost.

Now all I have to do is get us from the lodge to the Copper Center airport (strip) and back at the end of a long day. And maybe look into to dinner choices in Kennecott or McCarthy.

Very exciting. I first got interested in McCarthy/Kennecott after reading posts from you and Budget Queen. And then I started my own research. So thanks!

  2. We'd like to take the flight to McCarthy/Kennicott to maximize time there and minimize time driving. Princess is not offering an excursions with air transportation only driving. So I am looking into flying from Chitina. It may be in a thread somewhere but I haven't found a suggestion for getting from the lodge to Chitina.

Anybody done this? Not done it but know how? I just emailed the air provider this evening earlier but thought I'd check in here as well.

    thanks

  3. Wednesday 7 June. Ship arrives 7:30. Right now we have reserved a flight leaving at 12:30pm with layover arriving Houston 10 pm local. There is a non-stop that leaves at 11:30. Of course we'd love to shave 4 hours off our return.

Cruise line recommends no international flights before noon. Butl I'm thinking the non-stop is only a half hour earlier so...

Easily doable or will require some luck or OMG what are you thinking?

  4. I was on Navigator last week. While I don't care a bit about boxing, and agree it was yet another overhyped sporting event, I still applaud RCCL for showing it.

It was a fun and different activity. It created excitement and buzz. I was strolling the ship right before the main event and wandered up to the Cosmopolitan Lounge. The sight of hundreds of folks in loungers and deck chairs watching the big screen was cute and funny and more importantly they looked like they were having a good time, which is what it's all about. You know that many people weren't really boxing fans but they were sharing a fun experience.

    Good on you RCCL.

  5. Hi there, sailing on Navigator 4/26. Question about the min-bar in the suites. Does it have alcohol in it? And is there anyplace other than WJ for embarkation lunch? Seems to me I recall reading somewhere that MDR is open for lunch on embarkation day but may have confused it with another line.

    Thanks

  6. Jogging track is on deck 12. It's exactly half the length of the regular track you'll find on Mariner and the other Voyager Class ships now that Navigator cut off everything from the Solarium forward for the new cabins on deck 12.

So the track loops in behind the big screen TV underneath the Viking Crown as the other ships... but instead of looping again all the way around the front of the ship in front of the gym/spa it loops in behind the sky bar. For the "Make A Wish" we did 8 laps for a mile instead of the normal 4.

    Thanks for the response!

  7. Thanks for the great review and photos. Love photos.

I am booking for September. Have been on Mariner and one of my favorite things was the jogging (well, walking for me) track that looped around the sun deck. It was deck 12 or 13 if I recall. Is there still such a thing? I was reading the refurbishment threads and there was some question, but lost track of the conversation.

    Thanks!
