  1. Trying to figure out which tour company is going to give us the biggest bang for the buck in the NYC harbor/area?

It seems like there are so many of them with all sorts of options. I just want to see a lot of stuff....like maybe going up past the Intrepid, and/or over on the east side of Manhattan. I am not necessarily interested in a buffet meal or that sort of thing. Good viewing areas on the boat is plus along with being able to hear any narration well.

  2. I would consider Staten Island Hilton. Price is reasonable and they will take you to the Staten Island Ferry, No Charge and pick you up when you call them. Its a quick trip to Manhattan and easy to get around economically. They will also take you to the Cruise Port and pick you up when you return.

Since you have to go over to Bayonne anyway.

We get the ferry at about 10:00 in the morning and take the subway back to the ferry around 8:00pm.

Of course you will have to schlepp your stuff back to Penn Station, but either way you will have to do that.

At least look at the option.

  3. Just my opinion, but Empire State Building and Top of the Rock are pretty similar so I might consider only doing one and throwing in something else instead.

This is exactly what I was thinking as well. Same overall view, throw in the Intrepid Air & Space Museum or some such thing.

    ENJOY !

  4. We discovered them in FLL and made a stop in Cranberry PA at 10pm at night on our way down to port Canaveral this past Christmas. Great pizza as well.

They have one at the Grove City exit on I-79 (right at the end of the exit ramp).

There is also a Primanti's at the Millcreek mall in Erie, Pa.

Take the Peach St exit north until you see the Millcreek Mall on your left heading north. Its on the west side of the Mall.

  5. Priceline: Is there anyway to set a filter so you know if your bidding on more then a 2 person room. There will be four of us and I don't want to wind up with a single king bed.

Expedia: Why don't they tell you what your buying? It doesn't seem sensible to spend countless hours trying to figure out the descriptions to a known winner. Are you buying the hotel room or are you bidding on it through Expedia?

    Thanks in advance

  6. Lastminutetravel.com is a discount site with great rates. If you call the phone number, their rep will help with identifying the hotel and offer a few more dollars off.

That company also has a club to join. Although the fee is often waived with a promo code.

That has its own website..LMTclub.com. When you join it is not blind, the hotels are named and rates are even a little bit lower. It has become our go to spot because we like choosing our hotel and be able to cancel.

    Try it..you'll like it.:)

    eandj,

    Thanks for the prompt reply,

I will be calling them as we have a cruise lined up for April

  7. Those credit card machines are used mostly to steal identity.

South Florida is number one in the country for identity theft.

Keep an eye on your credit report.

Another reason to pay with cash. Anymore i pay almost everything in cash simply because there is just so much monkey business with Credit Cards.

Obviously that doesn't help if you haven't planned on spending your extra cash for a taxi.

    Just my .02 cents worth

  8. Fort Lauderdale Day Rooms They offer a room, transportation to and from airport and port and use of the facilities. $49. for two people

Sounds too good to be true. We have a 7:30 pm flight Any other options you may know about.

I don't want to sound ignorant but what is a day room? Is this just a another way of saying that you getting a room for the night? Or is their some other method of renting a room ny the hour or something like that?

  9. I have used Park N Go.

Very Satisfied, they load and unload your luggage and shuttle you to the cruise port front door so to speak. Then pick you up and take you back to the lot. We paid $6.95 per day, i booked on line. They give you a bottle of ice water when you leave. It couldn't be any easier.

  10. Thank you to all who replied, I really appreciate it.

My wife already booked the cruise in future DIL's married name. So that's basically a done deal. I will probably pay for the expedited service to make sure it gets here in time. I told her to bring their marriage license, new drivers license and birth certificate. I am also going to look at the birth cert to make sure it has a raised seal on it.

I don't like leaving things to chance. Especially things like this !

Thanks again for the information, I will save it for future reference.

  11. My son and his fiance are getting married in March. She does not have a passport nor ever has had one. What is the soonest she can apply? Does she have to wait until after the actual marriage is preformed to apply or are there any exceptions to this. We are leaving in May on a Caribbean Cruise. Is the expedited service any faster?

    Thanks, Joel

  12. Lots of live reviews were one from the Transatlantic sailing, with pictures. Here's just one: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2115379

The interior of the ship doesn't look much different at all. There was no major overhaul or such. A few shops were changed, which unless you paid close attention you wouldn't notice, and the Cupcake Cupboard became a Kate Spade shop. The main dining room underwent a minor overhaul for dynamic dining, but the overall changes are minimal. You'll find loads of pics in the review.

That is one shop i wont be frequenting.....lol

  13. Thanks to all who responded.

After reading the responses, i was left scratching my head as i had all the pages of the set sail pass but there just wasn't any place to sign, on any page.

I went back to the online check in today and lo and behold there the set sail passes were with the places for the signatures. Go Figure. They weren't like that last night. Mini Crises averted....lol

    Joel

The Set Sail Pass is 3 pages you sign it twice once under Cruise Ticket Contract and the second under Onboard Expense Account both on the first page

Any guests sign the first page of their pass under Cruise Ticket Contract.

  14. I found out that they don't cover you while in Haiti. So those who go to Labadee beware. There are a few other countries as well. They don't tell you that in advance, until you click to buy, then a popup comes up with this list of places where they won't cover you.

  15. Sirwired,

Thanks for the reply. I see AmMo is rated A+. I found that in the fine details of one of the policies. It would be interesting to hear from someone who has had to file a claim. I would be interested to see how the claim would be handled. Anybody purchased from Tin Leg?

    Joel

Most travel insurers are backed by some very much larger insurance company. In TinLeg's case, it's backed by American Modern Insurance, which in turn is owned by Munich Re, one of the largest insurers in the world.
