  1. Hello all. We will sail on the Oasis in 43 days! I am seeking clarification about dining in the Solarium Bistro. I understand that breakfast buffet and lunch are free of charge. Is dinner still a "fee based" specialty restaurant?

Also, does anyone have a link to the dinner menu?

    Thanks.

  2. We flew out of Schiphol to Atlanta yesterday. Our flight was 10:30am and we arrived at the airport via taxi from our hotel at 7am. Our check in, baggage drop off, passport screening and security check was all completed within one hour which we feel was very successful. We found a very nice restaurant in the airport, Coco's, for coffee and light breakfast.

Our Delta flight boarded on time and was a very pleasant 9 hour flight back.

Also we stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton Amsterdam Centraal Station after the cruise for 2 nights and thought it was excellent. Easy to get there and get anywhere in Amsterdam from there. Great roof top lounge as well there.

  3. I walked this way, this morning. Had no problem. Go out the back of the station to sea wall and turn right. Straight shot down to the cruise terminal. No stairs, good sidewalks free of anything in our way. If you have pull luggage, you will encounter absolutely NO cobblestones or anything else of the like. It is a smooth sidewalk and ramps the entire length of the way. I would say walking at a brisk pace, with no luggage took me less than 5 minutes. With luggage might take me 10.

I would definitely say that it would be easier to pull my bags to the pier by walking that getting them on and off a crowded tram. That idea just seems nuts to me. Yesterday, two people on our cruise almost missed our pre-cruise dinner because the tram they could not get off the tram they were on. It was so crowded that they were stuck in the back and couldn't make their way to the doors. Can you imagine doing that with luggage. Not me. I would walk. Not that far.

Thanks. We will be getting on the Silhouette after you get off!

  4. The only time I have rolled luggage from Centraal Station was for a river cruise. AMA was tied up behind the station area, yet we had to be very, very mindful of the bicycles when crossing streets. For the cruise ship - take the tram, it's easier and much safer.

Yes. Valuable perspective about walking the streets encumbered with a large suitcase! We will use the tram to get to the PTA.

    Thank you.

  5. It can be done. Here are the directions.

Amsterdam Centraal Stationsplein, Head northeast on Westtunnel toward Michiel de Ruijtertunnel ,Turn right onto De Ruijterkade

    Turn left onto De Ruijterkade/s100

    Continue to follow s100

Destination will be on the left

It's about a mile. It might be easier to take tram #26 from the station to the PTA. I think the cost is 1.50 euros per person.

Thank you. Yes. The tram is a better solution than rolling our bags for a mile. As I recall some of the sidewalk may be brick or stone.

  6. Our observation was that there was inconsistent implementation of the categories--we had the Classic package, and after a few days of not ordering Jameson because it is now on the Premuim list, my husband decided to go ahead and get one and upgrade if need be. To his surprise, he was just served his Jameson. And not just at that specific bar. So, my recommendation is to use the list as a general guideline but ask about your personal favorite once onboard. You may be pleasantly surprised.

I appreciate your thoughts about talking with the waitstaff. There is one favorite, Crown Royal, that is not on the Classic list. We'll see how our request is handled.

  7. Not a great review of the entertainment for our Baltic cruise. The in house singers and dancers were more talented than those on previous cruises, however the show themes were lacking. No comedians, a mediocre magician with a contortionist wife. She was great! A pianist and singer rounded out most of the remainder of our entertainment. Our CD Paul said they didn't have a comedian because of the high number of European guests who did not get US humor. Celebrity did bring on a local group during our St Petersburg stop who were absolutely wonderful. They received the best ovations and reviews.

Other entertainment was just OK as well. My DH and I like to dance before dining, but the choices of music did not lend itself well to dancing. Very few people danced. You would think a band would take note of which songs people dance to and play more of those. I agree with most posts that entertainment is not Celebrity's strong suit, but they should pay better attention to it. Cruising is becoming much more competitive and they may find that this lack of entertainment brings them down a notch.

Were you on the Silhouette for your Baltic trip? We are sailing August 20th on the 14 day Scandinavia & Russia cruise. I hope the local act will be on in St. Petersburg for us to enjoy.

  8. Ray Brown, Jr jazz quartet is excellent. We just returned from BI cruise on Silhouette. They perform several sets a night in various venues.

Thanks for sharing information on the jazz band. Was the Ensemble Lounge their regular location? We have found on the Solstice class ships we have sailed that we like the groups generally in this lounge.

  9. Sounds like a pretty good deal. That's just about what we're paying for the May 17 part, also for a 2B. We're sticking with the same cabin for the Alaska leg, so it's quite a bit cheaper, but you'll love the aft balcony. We've had them several times and love them, but decided to economize this time since we've been to Alaska several times. I keep watching for a price drop, but it's probably too early and may never happen, especially for the San Diego>Vancouver part.

Hi,. Been reading your comments on the 2017 Pacific Coast. We are on this cruise. We currently have a starboard room and based on the sunset comments in this thread, I am considering changing rooms!

Is there a roll call started for this cruise?

  10. One thing I will mention re wine available with the Classic Package. In the MDR there was not a Sauvignon Blanc listed at my price point. I simply told the Sommelier I wanted a glass of SB and I got one. (And was not charged for it.) Every wine they have is not listed on the menu.

Thanks for sharing this. I know each lounge may have different selections, but nice to be able to order by a generic wine and get the glass in the MDR.
