  1. Got a few questions perhaps best answered by recent Fantasy cruisers -- all help appreciated.

    1. Do they have unsweetened iced tea?
    2. How many hangars per stateroom?
    3. How often (& what days) do they offer the $15 laundry bag special?
    4. Anyone have a picture of the soda cup with a lid?
    5. Has anyone bought a scrapbooking kit from the onboard gift shop? How much?

I haven't sailed on the Fantasy yet (but I'll answer your questions when I return, I leave for my cruise in a week). I did buy a scrapbooking kit on the Destiny last year... it came with the scrapbook and three packages of materials. I think it was $34.95, if I remember correctly.

Oh, and I've only done like 6 pages in that scrapbook, and going on another cruise next week. Such a scrapbooking slacker I am...

  2. It does appear that they are boarding from ground level so there is no incline. And traffic is being routed from Calhoun Street to Concord St. Concord leads right up to where the tents are for unloading. At 12:30 today the traffic did not appear to be bad and it seemed that the shuttles and boarding were going smoothly.

My son was part of the PR group from Charleston that was invited to the special celebration. He said that they actually had to go through an embarkation process, but that it went very smoothly. He was on the ship in less that 30 minutes after arrival at the port. Very impressivie for Charleston.

He also said that Carnival went all out to welcome them onboard. First they were taken to the main lounge for a presentation by John Heald. It lasted about an hour. During that time they were served unlimited drinks and not those awful, watered down things that they serve at the past guest party! He said that they used top shelf liqour.

They were also served lunch in the MDR. He said that it was a five course meal, consisting of lobster tails and prime rib as the main entree. During lunch, unlimited drinks and wine were also available. Sounds like a lot of drinking to me!!

The whole event lasted about five hours.

Wow... I think maybe I need to get into the PR field... lol. That's pretty impressive.

  3. Nope, my future in-laws aren't on cruise critic. They don't really use the computer. My fiance's not on here either but he is going to college for programming- he's a computer nerd, social networking nerd- not so much.

Our roll call is really dead too. So is the one on the Carnival.com forum =(. My last cruise we had a pretty good roll call going on Carnival.com and I even saw some people from the boards on the cruise.

Anyway... hopefully we'll meet lots of cool people on the boats and introduce them to CC :).

  4. My fiance and I will be on the May 30 sailing from Charleston: Nassau, Key West, Freeport. His parents are cruising the week before us, on that same Half Moon Cay, Nassau, Grand Turk- which are the ports fiance and I went to when we went on the Destiny last year. They're all awesome ports but we did a booze cruise in Nassau so I don't remember much of that one, hehe. Good excuse to go back :p

I was also disappointed in the Charleston itineraries. It's ALL Bahamas. I'm glad we found one that at least includes Key West, which is where I'm really looking forward to :). Hopefully it will help cruising really take off in SC and in a few years they'll add more destinations.

As for the price difference, the only thing I can figure out is since CHS is further north it takes more fuel to get to the destinations than from say, MIA. I know the cruises from Baltimore are a lot more expensive probably for that reason as well??? But after our last cruise we swore we would NEVER drive to MIA again...
