Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I asked about Blantons in the Eden lounge the next to last night of our cruise and was told they'd run out but would restock the next night so come back and ask again. I went back the next night and asked the same waiter who said they hadn't yet restocked it so I ordered an Eagle Rare 10 year which was something like 29Euro and the 9.6Euro amount above my premium package allowance for that drink was my only room charge for the trip. As we were sitting in Eden enjoying our drinks the waiter came over to me and said we've just restocked the Blantons. I passed.
  2. Would you recommend the Gallery Hotel in Barcelona? We just returned from the same trip you did and stayed two nights in the Vividora Hotel on de Duc in Barcelona which our TA had selected. Our hotel was clean, modern, trendy, with friendly competent service but breakfast was 29 Euro each, the bathroom had almost zero counter space, the beds were hard, and there was a noisy rooftop terrace bar (they were partying up there until 4am on a Sunday morning) one floor above us. But we loved Barcelona and want to got back. The Wine and Tapas tour we did there was a highlight of the trip. Thanks for your trip report. It gave us lots of good ideas when we did the same itinerary.
  3. We told our waiter in advance that we wanted to order from the Cosmo menu and also one of the other 3 (depending on what different option they had that night) and at dinner he gave us each a Cosmo menu and one of whichever other menu from which we wanted to order. It was never a problem.
  4. For beer I'd say it is mostly valid. I just left the Edge in Barcelona from Rome on the 16h where I had the premium package. I had these beers on the Edge: Duval, Leffe, Goose Island IPA, Anchor Steam, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Heineken, Red Stripe, Franziskaner wheat, Bierra Moretti L'Authentica. The Goose Island IPA wasn't listed on any bar menu but when I saw someone at Sunset with one I asked and sure enough they were available. I could not find any dark beers (stouts, porters or bocks) on the ship including Guinness. For a beer guy it was a disappointing experience.
  5. We disembarked the Edge in Barcelona on September 16th which was my 1st Celebrity cruise but 5th overall. The music near the pool on the at sea day was so loud, obscure, and intrusive it will likely keep me from booking another Celebrity cruise, at least on the Edge. My wife and I are in our 60s and enjoy concerts even loud ones. We saw Billy Strings, Earth Wind & Fire, and Santana within the last year in concert, all of which were loud. We were also on this cruise with my two 20-something daughters and their SOs and none of us liked the music selection or volume around the pool area. It was a mystery why Celebrity would do this as I have a hard time imaging cruisers thinking, "well this music isn't loud or obscure enough to that's my last Celebrity cruise!" I had one other issue with the premium drink package beer selections (which were lame and not properly documented in menus) but otherwise a good experience.
