  1. Possibly someone can help us with some help finding an airline  FCO to BCN that will take our cruise luggage.  Or maybe you can tell us what to expect.

We will  disembark in Civitavecchia  and want to make our way to Barcelona where we will board NCL Epic. We would like to see Barcelona  for 2 days before boarding the Epic.

But not sure  what airlines to avoid  and which one to  use that will also take our cruise luggage at a reasonable price.  (I don't even know what a reasonable price might be).

I look forward to your suggestions.

  2. On the same topic just a different location.

In the port of Barcelona, is it doable to walk from where the Epic docks be to where the Star will dock ?

This would be for a 10 day Mediterranean cruise followed by a 14 day transatlantic. Just a little concerned getting from one ship to the other with luggage in tow.

  3. Shellbelle,

Your invite is extremely impressive!!! Did you post it on your Roll Call?? That display alone should get more people to sign up for the Meet and Greet.

    Nance

I agree !! Enthusiasm creates more enthusiasm.

What size is your invite ? It's bloody lovely .:D

  4. Wowser! That is some spreadsheet! My Roll Call tab has mostly the same columns, but it's so inactive I only have 16 attendees (they must not understand my need to plan and organize!). My Roll Call invites are amazing I want to give them to more people!

I think our whole roll call is made up of the likes of this tribe :halo::cool:.

Invites ?... I wanna see 'em too,

  6. Why can't he drive to stores by himself? Mine always does. Only he knows what he wants and needs.

Good Lord.. NO !!! Not in this house. I think your DH makes better choices than some of our DH's choices. I'm sure they can drive themselves to the stores.. but we may spend the next few days matching things up to go with those choices..;p Not all.. I'm just saying,...some of us .

  7. Really- I use a smartphone and as to pre planning a waste of time suitcase- flight - cruise Why spend longer packing than cruising

    bmwman,

What up with you ?? You are usually far more supportive to others comments.....really !

Maybe you just didn't have a good day.

Remember, people do things for their reasons..not ours.

Planning is part of travel in general. There is the anticipation, the cruise, and the memories.

    It's just fun !!!!

Want to see some over the top planning ?? Have a look at the spreadsheet (below) for our roll call set up for October 2019. Port by Port by Port.

  8. Thank you Vickie. Two more questions, can you leave the application and return later? Once you fill everything out how long before you must upload the documents? I'm thinking I may need a DD to help me.

I was able to save mine, then just log back in when you have the rest of your info. and images ready to upload.

  9. Vickie,

Do you have any hints to uploading the photos and passports? I am a little tech challenged so any help would be appreciated. I am getting passport pictures taken today since it says that is the type needed.

    Thank you,

    Diane

The instructions are on the Brazilian Consulate website where you apply for the evisa.

There is a tool for resizing the pictures and if the information on your passport page doesn't size correctly, send them a note.. they will resize it for you and send it back to you to attach to application.

I am in the process of final payment for our Amazon River cruise and asked the cruise line specifically if they will accept our e visa.. the current answer is YES.

It only became available in January of this year..and has taken until just recently to get the same yes answer from 2 different people.

  10. APDMOM,

Great review and even greater (if possible)photos.

Can I ask you to take a picture from the pool deck looking at the two elevator towers, going up to deck 18.

I can't get my head around what they may look like from the cabins they are somewhat in front of. I think they are H2 cabins but it looks like theses cabins would have an obstructed view .

Any help or photos would be very much appreciated.

  11. I wonder if they will keep the Jade in Europe ?

November of 2019 has the Encore the Epic and the Star all doing the transatlantic crossing. It's not even showing on the NCL web site that the Star has a TA in November of 2019, unless you look at the Star's itinerary on it's own . Just what NCL needs is another ship doing the crossing and looking for at least another 2000 passengers in November.;p;p..... just sayin'.

    Any ideas ??

  12. I guess we got really lucky ! We were in the Garden Villa in Oct/Nov 2017

in the South Pacific on the Jewel. We thought Bruno was going to be the concierge and

we found out it was Bowen we would have as our concierge. If ever I had an opportunity to cruise with Bowen again... I'd be there in a heartbeat. He went above all expectations we had of having a great cruise.. not just a good cruise, but a great cruise. A thank you was so small when we wanted it to mean so much. I hope our tip to the Garden Villa staff showed our appreciation.

If you meet Bowen, hopefully you will see what I mean.:halo:

    Another shout our for Bowen!

We were also on a part of that amazing cruise, staying in the smallest room in the Haven on Jewel. We also had very close friends with us who were staying in a suite, but not the Haven, and he gave the 4 of us impeccable service!! I even saw him running back on forth on deparkation day, making sure everyone was taken care of with transportation. He was outstanding!

We have also booked the New Zealand cruise for January 2019, also on the Jewel.

Does anyone know if Bowen will still be on Jewel for then?

Nope... Bowen is just returning from vacation. He will be on the Epic, starting tomorrow.:D

  13. The Jade disembarks in Rome (Civitavecchia) November 7 2019.

We are booked on Jade for that cruise, but were wondering if there is likely to be a transatlantic following that last posted cruise. Nothing showing at all after that.

Is there any chance they may leave the Jade in Europe for the winter months?

I know there are still several ships without a late 2019 itinerary, but some of our CC friends are far more knowledgeable than I, and just might have some insight.

We can always find a flight back to the US, but if there is an option for the Jade

doing a transatlantic, that would be our first choice. There will be the Epic from Barcelona, the Star from Barcelona and the Encore (don't know when though) all returning to the US.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

  14. It doesn't appear to be too difficult to obtain. However, you might want to check with your cruise line to see if they will accept it. My cruise is with Oceania, I called them, travel agent called them. They are saying NO we will not accept the e visa at this time. Others on this cruise have heard that they will accept it. I'm confused.

  15. Brazil visa- easier, less expensive way to obtain. See my post at https://boards.cruisecritic.com/show....php?t=2594159 to learn how to apply for the new, Brazil e-visa on-line over the web if you are a citizen of Australia, Japan, the USA or Canada. Residents of these countries are ineligible.

Sounds all great and good , but, at this time will the cruise lines accept the new e visas. I called Oceania yesterday regarding a cruise to Brazil. They said NO, we are not accepting them.

  16. Just straining to research a trip to Europe Sept / Oct 2019 and have found a cruise which I really like.

NCL - Jade. Rome to Rome (14 days) and covers Venice, Florence, Santorini, Mykonos, Atehns etc. etc.

My question is, would it be starting to get too cold at that time? I know it's towards the end of the season but is it still a good time to cruise in the Med???

Also, looking at a balcony cabin so any advise on which decks are better than others would be appreciated. Thanks.

Come on over and take a look at the group that think the weather just might be ok. Or at least doable. We have a great group started for this cruise. You will see that the happenin' place is on deck 10. If you see a balcony cabin there to your liking.. friends won't be far away.

Here is the link to our roll call and spreadsheet. As Nancy (TSUmom) has said we are over 600 days out and have some tours planned already...come and have a look. :D
