Is TSA pre check worth the time and cost?

Yes.  For all the reasons below, although at times the line isn't shorter but almost always quicker,  and more than once it has saved us in Orlando and Las Vegas.  We have had it for 10 years now (renewing again in August...thanks for asking this question- it made me check; reminder added to calendar).

To me, TSA PreCheck is worth it even if you don't fly much.

The separate security line is usually much shorter.

Not having to take off your shoes is a major plus.

Not having to remove your liquids from your carry on removes that annoying part.

Not having to remove your laptop from you carry on is fantastic.

  2. We've used this Budget location every time we've cruised out of there.  Last time, rather than using shuttle, due to the enormous amount of people hanging around; I ordered an Uber - He was actually in the parking lot!  So we returned the car and were out of the Budget lot in like 3 minutes...should have seen the look on peoples faces when we immediately got into a car and headed for the port - Priceless!

  3. We did the Chef's Table while on the Odyssey last week; the evening after spending all day on Coco Cay.

It was very good and a great experience.  The Sommelier was fabulous.  They were very accommodating as my husband doesn't like scallops so he was given beef carpaccio.  We also had both the branzino and the filet and dessert was served with an espresso martini.  Absolutely enjoyed it and would do it again.  I can post pics of each course if you'd like.

    Although...

Next time, I would probably pass on so many drinks on the island before that large of a meal with that many wines.

  4. We were in a large balcony category 7632 on the Odyssey last week - Pre-Cruise I was worried a little about it being "cave like" but it really wasn't bad - plenty of sun and shade when needed/wanted.  One thing I liked about it is Ive had balconies before that were too hot to spend extended time on, this gave a good mix of both.

Pic of from deck 5 looking up at the balconies that are "extended".  (We were in the first slanted balcony in the picture on deck 7 if that makes sense)

Thank you for asking - I forgot that I had points I could redeem.  I redeemed points today for a 1/22 sailing - I can come back and let you know when I actually see the funds post to my OBC, if its helpful.  However that being said the site says you need to redeem at least 1 week before sailing.  I don't know if I would risk it.

Good Morning!  I received confirmation of the BOA RCL points redemption this morning.

It's time we close the border between Canada and the USA for awhile as well.

Boom, Done!    Except for deliveries of supplies and goods.

My concern is for a Canadian friend who is traveling by car back from Florida to her home in Canada.  Hoping she has no trouble crossing back into Canada with the quarantine notes on the closure.

    Hi rsfunk.

We cancelled on Tuesday morning once our Chief Medical Officer announced that Canadians should avoid all cruise travel. Up until that point, we were still planning on cruising tomorrow. While we did receive a confirmation of cancellation from our travel agent, I don't have anything from RCL that shows our FCC.

Could you confirm whether or not the FCC you received encompasses the taxes/fees or if this was refunded and your FCC is the cruise fare only?

We had also pre-paid our gratuities so waiting to see if this will be a straight up refund or a credit.

    Thanks!

I received the FCC email, for cruise fare only,  yesterday at 4:46p (right about the time they announced the suspension) and just checked my CC, the port fees and the UDP were credited back yesterday as well.

The amounts all checked out to exactly what we were quoted, and expected, by the customer service rep that helped us on 3/6 when we cancelled.

    Hope that help/answers your question.

  9. If this isn't allowed due to link, please delete.

I truly believe every individual person has the right to make their own decision (to cancel or not) in this situation and I think it is a great thing that Royal is giving all of us the ability to do so with FCC as the option.  I know people who are cancelling and people who are still going.

The media hype around this is a little out of control.  For perspective check out this link from John Hopkins.  Notice how no one is reporting about how many people have recovered from it...

    Are you on Odyssey inaugural?

Being diamond will no doubt improve that experience

    We are!

We took a weekend cruise back in December, because we knew we would be a few nights short when we got off the Harmony,  so that we would be diamond for the Odyssey.  I had a feeling that being diamond on the Odyssey would not be a bad thing.

As you're onboard and appear to have internet access might I humbly suggest a quick, public post to one of their social media platforms outlining exactly what's happening?

I have a feeling RC might find a way to contact the ship to get you what you're entitled too....... especially if you put "have the confirm printed" in big letters as part of your post.......

OP HERE :  Sorry for seeming to disappear, I don’t Voom. I cruise to disconnect lol.

Anyway, after getting a bit of run around on day 1 when we went back to our cabin to go to bed - the cups and stickers were there. No explanation just cups and stickers. So along with the basic beverage package, we were to get a meal at JR. yeah well we ended up back at GS to have that fixed as well as it wasn’t notated on the account but that took considerably less time than the beverage diabolical took.
In the end, I feel like we got what we were entitled to it just was a bit of a pain. And I do realize all of this is “first world” problems but I also wanted to make sure people here knew that at least on the Harmony they had no idea we had a choice and to be prepared when getting onboard that you MAY have to prove you elected to stay in the DDD package.

  12. Embarked the Harmony today -I grandfathered into the DDD package back when they first gave us the opportunity to do so. Printed the confirm page. Get onboard and am told cups will be in cabin - No cups in cabin. Talk to 4 people all have no idea, Lee sending me from person to person. Last “white shirt” guy I talk to says there were changes after I made my election and when I ask why I wasn’t informed, he shrugged his shoulders. Sends me to GS who tries to send me back to him ... I showed every person my confirm and no one can make a decision. GS says they were told everyone got $50. I say well no but even so how come I don’t have the credit. They finally say they have to email corporate and they will get back to me but don’t know when. So a perk that I’m supposed to have on day 1 I may get on any given day between now and the end of the cruise or may not get at all.
I knew this would be a problem and I guess I’m right.
not at all impressed on how they are handling this either. I’m not asking for a free cruise I just want what they are supposed to give me.

if you grandfathered in be sure to bring the confirm page (hopefully you printed it). Another cruiser didn’t print it and they are telling her without it she gets nothing!

  13. The new RCL procedures in place at Port Canaveral and Miami are super efficient, quick and easy. Last 2 cruise- we’ve never stopped moving, no lines or waiting, to get onboard and getting off - you walk up to an iPad like screen - you get a green light and off you go.
don’t know which other ports have this but definitely way easier than the paper, talking  to agents and questions route

They are well over priced - to replace one nail - it's about $20 with the tip added! Yes that's for one single nail to be replaced!

I got caught many years ago on one of our first cruises when I broke a nail and paid $15 plus tip to get it redone (and it wasn't done well either)

Since then I always get my nails done just before we go and I always carry a repair kit with me and some glue to re stick if they lift to get me to the end.

Thanks!  I knew if they did - it’d be expensive. I’m not even sure it’ll be an issue but thought I’d ask.  Thank you for the info on quality- that is my bigger concern with letting someone different do my nails.
I love my nail tech and have been going to her for years. I do normally get mine filled the day before we leave and it’s not a big deal but unfortunately due to a scheduling error (my fault)  - I had to get them done last evening and am concerned about how they will look/feel by the end of the cruise.

  16. So i just found out - we both have traditional dining, I booked through Royal, she booked through some sort of cruise voucher program/TA.

So is there anything we can, need to, or you'd recommend we'd do before boarding to be able to sit together at dinner? or do we wing it and go to the MDR after we board and ask them to put us together?

    Thanks for the help.
