  1. Last time we were on the Freedom, the LA told us it was due to the demographics of the ship...IE: there are more families and older people sailing on her and they tend to prefer the 5:30 time.

Please don't flame me - that was what she told us when we asked about it. When we cruised on the Freedom in 2011, early dining was 6pm.

  2. I had gone on my first cruise with my step-grandfather and 2 cousins the summer after my Grandmother passed away back in the 90's.

Many years passed and friends of DH and mine went and told us how much fun it was but DH wasn't having any part of it UNTIL we were planning a vacation and wanted to go out to Key West...

Just the hotel out in Key West was going to be $400+ for 2 nights and 4 night cruise was only $129/pp, so we gave it a try and now were both hooked.

  4. I just reserve my car rental with budget and Days INN hotel pre cruise. I would like to know if there is a shuttle that I can take back to budget to pick up a rental back to the airport after the cruise?

Yes, you can catch a Budget shuttle back to the location to pick up after the cruise.

  5. Quick question for those who have used Dollar - did you choose the Miami-Cruise Port Only Pickup option or did you chose just MIA?

When I priced out and reserved for the cruise in Sept (picking up at FLL) and chose MIA it didn't charge me a one-way drop charge, but I don't want to have a problem with the shuttle just in case...

    Thanks for your input

    Sue

  6. I have to apologize - Alamo has discontinued the shuttle service that ran from MIA to the Seaport.:mad: (I guess I'll be searching for a different rental car company for my annual Rolex24/Cruise vacation)

Per the Port of Miami's website it seems as though there is a flat rate for a taxi of $24.00 between the port and MIA.

Also from the their website: Hertz, Thrifty and Dollar are all listed as having shuttle service but I guess it would be best to double check.

    Sorry for the bad info...

  7. No, we didnt have to call - when we returned the car, they asked airport or seaport and directed us which shuttle to get on and on the return the shuttle was just coming down the road outside the terminal, we flagged it down and hopped aboard.

Wow, I cant believe that they would stop the shuttle service, that seems like their shooting themselves in the foot with that idea, did you check directly with the MIA location or the 800#? - When I was originally checking into it I was told by the 800# that they dont offer it but when I checked with the MIA location, they confirmed that they did...

  8. While I cannot speak for Enterprise, I know from experience that you can do this with Alamo. There are no rental counters at the port.

Both times we have cruised, we have rented at 1 airport and returned the car to a different one. (DAB to MIA, MIA to FLL, PBI to MIA and MIA to FLL) Alamo does offer a free shuttle to the port (takes about 15-20 mins) and they will drop you off right in front of the terminal and when you disembark there will be shuttle buses that will take you back to the airport to pick up your rental. I am sure that I saw shuttle buses from other rental companies.

Im guessing that we have been extremely lucky with the shuttle buses as we never waited for a bus and on the last cruise we were the only people on the shuttle going to and from.

    Hope this info helps.
