I set sail on Sunday and I will be reporting a review with this information when I return. Not sure when you are sailing. We are doing the Eastern itinerary. I'm amazed at how little information there is regarding menus and patters, so I will be sure to share all that when I get back.
Looking forward to your review with menus and patters!

How comfortable are the Regal/Royal Deluxe Balcony cabins' loveseats that fold our into a single bed? Like old fashioned fold outs? or more like the newer trifold European sofabeds (such as in many Marriotts, Disney, etc. resorts)?
Also interested in this info.

Add me to the list of people who emailed their displeasure to Princess about phasing out the BOGO happy hour.

I unfortunately did not notice and we skipped lunch that day completely. I can say I did not notice anything online before embarking that you could reserve lunch. I will try and ask someone fir you. Check back.

seadog67, a quick question for you. I am sailing on the Anthem next week and just noticed in my cruise planner that I can make reservations at Jamie's or Chops for lunch on embarkation day. Yet on all the compasses that I have seen posted for past cruises on Anthem, including yours, I have not seen these 2 speciality restaurants listed as being open for lunch on embarkation day. Did you possibly see people eating in either of these 2 places when you boarded? Or maybe somebody knows if this is something new? If this is possible it might be worth making a reservation for lunch to avoid the mob at Windjammers on embarkation day.
Thanks and I am enjoying your live reports and videos.

I have rented a car from Hertz for the day we are in port. Is it walkable to their car lot? I know it looks to be about 1 mi. away but was wondering if there are sidewalks along the roads to it.Sorry about that ------Port Canaveral, FL
We are on the same cruise and also renting from Hertz. We are planning on taking the shuttle to the rental agency and depending on what time we end up returning the car, possibly having to take an uber or cab back to the port as it appears the agency closes at 4pm.
Got to ask, what does the hf stand for in your cruise critic name?

If you purchase the Ultimate Dining Package would lunch at Johnny Rockets or Michaels Genuine Pub be included on sea days? This would be on the Anthem of the Seas but wondering if anyone has had success having lunch at either of these venues on any ships.
Thanks in advance for anyone that has some info.

Have a great cruise. Looking forward to your updates.

Depending on when you booked your cruise, you may prepay your gratuities at the old rate of $13.50/day. If you wait and pay your gratuities while onboard you will pay the new rate of $14.50/day.

Aerosmith Tribute Band.
Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the "Live" updates from your cruise, Radio. I am curious as to if there is a tribute band playing onboard and if so, who might that band be? Looking forward to your next update.

Watching your sail away on the Port of NY web cam. Looks like when you left the dock you took a scenic route toward Manhattan sailing by the Statue of Liberty before turning around and heading toward the Verrazano Bridge. Also looks like the North Star was running during your sail away. I imagine the views of NYC were pretty amazing.

What are all these "light drinkers" doing on this thread anyway. LOL
If this thread continues I might have to abide by my signature ;)

I have a feeling the change from the free UBP gratuity included promo that was offered earlier this year to the new promo of free UBP plus a service charge has to do with the way the wait staff was getting their tips.
Under the old promo, to the best of my knowledge, each drink would be charged then reversed on the passengers bill so that a gratuity would be generated for the wait staff even though the passenger was not paying for the drink. And from what I have read some of the wait staff would charge a higher price for the actual drink (makes for a higher tip) and the passenger wouldn't care because the charge was being reversed.
Now I wonder if drinks will be charged a price at all for those with the UBP. NCL could just have the computer programmed to not charge the UBP passenger at all for each of his/her drinks and the prepaid service charge will account for the tips. This would eliminate the reversing of the charges but also eliminate calculating each drink's gratuity for the wait staff.

We have the UDP on our upcoming cruise. We reserved the speciality dining venues for our sea days and will wing it on most of our port days. Not sure how wiped out we will be returning from our shore excursions and don't want to be locked into a specific time to eat dinner on those days.
-
Wait... really? I could totally upgrade to a suite if I can keep the ksf promo even if it isn't available on the sailing currently?
When I just upgraded this week I was able to keep both the UDP and UBP promos that were offered on my European cruise that I booked in February (2 choices were allowed for Europe). To the best of my knowledge you keep the promos that you originally booked. But I would confirm with your TA or NCL before upgrading as this could be a YMMV situation.
-
I know this has been discussed a few times in older threads, but I figured I would just post a reminder.
For those waiting for the upsell fairy to call there is another way to upgrade after final payment. Be proactive and go to the NCL web site and price out your upcoming cruise. If you find a better category cabin is now priced cheaper than what you paid, you should be able to call your TA or NCL (depending on who you booked your cruise through) and upgrade to the better cabin at no charge. If that better category cabin is priced a little more than what you have already paid, you can pay the difference and upgrade to that better category cabin. And by upgrading, not rebooking, you will be able to keep all your original promos.
As always, YMMV, but this method has worked for myself and a few others on our upcoming Jade cruise this July. Just make sure you confirm with your TA or NCL that you can keep your original promos after upgrading, as some of the choice promos that were offered earlier this year are much better than the current promos, IMHO.

Just one more data point. For my July 11th Jade cruise, today was the first day I was able to make reservations for Cagney's. I have the UDP as part of the promo I received back in February. Each reservation I made was listed as "complimentary" and no charge was listed. YMMV.

Any recent guarantee assignments? I am still waiting for a cabin assignment for a May 8 sailing.
Final payment was made on Friday, April 24th for our July 11th Jade cruise and Monday, April 27th, we were assigned our outside OK GTY cabin, 74 days out. I don't think there is any rhyme or reason to when cabins are assigned.
BTW, no upgrade but very happy with location of assigned cabin.
