  1. As many have stated, sometimes it's not as easy as just flying in the day before. Work, family obligations, babysitter availability, etc. are many reasons why some people have to fly in the day of the cruise. We've flown in the day of the cruise about 1/2 the time and the other 1/2 we've flown in the day before. It depended on what was going on and flight prices (a day can be a BIG difference in price).

What we have always done though is on those trips where we flew in the day of the cruise, we've always gotten the absolute earliest flight we could get (which has always been a 6am out of Reagan National) and we've always researched possible alternatives in the event of extended delays. We usually are in FLA by 8:30am with plenty of time to spare. Last year however we flew in the day before and had a MAJOR delay that didn't get us into FLA until about 2:00 (this was an originally schedule 6am departure). Had that been the day of the cruise we would have been cutting it close since we landed in FLL and were cruising out of MIA.

  2. We'll be on the Breeze in a few weeks. Anyone have any luck on the slots? And if so want machines were good?

Last year my wife hit for $2,000 on the Wheel of Fortune! Funny thing is, she was just doing it while waiting on me at the blackjack table! Man, that was sweet indeed!

  3. Last year we did the 6 day Eastern Caribbean on the Breeze and we were not impressed too much with the ports or the ship itself. Of all 5 of my Carnival cruises, that was by far my least favorite. Some issues had to do with the ship and some with the ports.

The ship issues we had were:

1.) The floors on the lido deck from the buffet area on back are very, very slippery. I have no idea what material those floors are made of but you could almost skate on them and we saw a few people take a spill on them. I've never experienced that on any other of Carnival's ships.

2.) We've heard people complain about the sewage smell on other ships but until we sailed on the Breeze, we had never experienced that! Well, that smell was prevalent quite often throughout that 6 day cruise; especially towards the AFT bar area on the lido. And it was quite strong at time!

3.) I felt the boat movements more on the Breeze that on any other ship. And we didn't have bad weather during the whole cruise so it wasn't because of choppy water!

Overall we did enjoy the cruise (let's face it, cruising is better than being at work) but it was our least enjoyable of all of the ship we've been on.

Again, that was OUR experience. Others have enjoyed the boat so you may think differently of it if you decided to book it. But beware, the slippery floors are REAL!

Let me edit my post. We did have one bad weather day when it rained the whole time we were in Key West but the rest of the cruise we had beautiful weather and we still felt the boat swaying.
  4. I just got off the Breeze today and maybe I just have a sensitive nose but that sewage smell was very strong many, many times and not just at the Aft of the ships either. Also many ppl commented whenever we were in a "smell zone." I have never been on the Dream so I couldn't compare the 2 but I can tell you that I've been on the Destiny and Triumph once each and the Freedom twice and I had never smelled any sewage smells at all on those ships. It was very strong and prevalent on the Breeze.

  6. Our upcoming 30 June cruise on the Freedom will be our 2nd consecutive cruise on that ship. DW wants to do a different ship every time but due to scheduling conflicts with the inlaws availability to keep the kids, we had to move our originally booked cruise on the Valor up a week so we ended up with the best intinerary on the Freedom again. DW was originally a little disappointed at booking the same ship that we'd just been on 2 years ago but as the trip gets closer her "disappointment" has turned to pure excitement. As for me, I could care less if it's the same ship everytime; as long as I'm not at work and the ship has booze and a casino....I'm happy! :D
