  1. Presently on the Summit to Bermuda right now. Left on Sunday from NJ. Redtravel is correct. First Evening Chic was last night ( Monday ), and the next one will be on Friday. All types of dress was seen from shorts to the one tuxedo that I saw. Most wore casual summer dresses or knit separates. Some wore dressy pants with glittery tops.
  2. Love the convenience of a room next to the elevator and have never had a noise issue with any of the ships/ cruise lines that we have been on
  3. Just returned from a RC Alaskan cruise a few weeks ago. All of the advice on this thread is absolutely correct. Comfortable, casual clothing is the way to go even in the evenings. Leave the heels at home and bring the flip flops. Heck, we even saw people come down to the Promenade for coffee in the mornings still wearing their pajamas!
  4. Clearwater Beach is beautiful and our favorite. It is much less crowded than the others. I would take the suggestion of getting a taxi from St George rather than a bus. It is in a remote area and the buses as mentioned, can be unreliable with long time stretches between them. Add this to the time taken to pick up and drop off passengers, and you are looking at time wasted. And depending on which bus you get, you may get dropped off at the top of a hill with a long walk down to the beach. There is a bus stop close to the beach, but not all buses come down to it.
  5. I wore matching tee shirts only once. It was on an extended family cruise for my sister’s milestone birthday. I had matching shirts made for everyone from grandparents to the toddler, with a birthday message on them. We all wore the shirts on embarkation day. Throughout the cruise, many people recognized us and gave us positive words. It was a fun thing to do. We are going on a cruise in a few months with a group of friends. You may have just given me an idea! And I do use a lanyard. I find it very convenient. I don’t really care what others think.
  6. We were in Ketchikan last week and there was a total of 4 ships. Three docked in town, and our ship was anchored at Ward Cove. Although busy, the town did not seem crowded. This was our second cruise to Alaska but first time in Ketchikan. We were very pleasantly surprised at how vibrant and interesting it was. I am sure that the years of the pandemic hit it hard, and one cannot compare it now to what it was like last year. Everything seemed to be open and anxious to see people again. We had a toddler with us so did not do any excursions. But just walking around the town made for a pleasant afternoon.
  7. Already knew about Medicare not covering outside the U.S., and do make sure that I have outside insurance whenever I am traveling internationally. But it is an interesting fact about the 6 hour rule when cruising. which could impact those traveling to Alaska. I learned something today!
  8. If I am covered by Medicare and also have secondary medical insurance, do I still need a travel policy that includes medical coverage? We will be in a Canadian port for less than a day. I am wondering how others have handled this. Of course I do intend on getting a policy with the evacuation coverage.
