  1. It seems the OP’s post was removed.  My comment appears- “X choice of hotel is very disappointing”. On the OP’s original post she stated that she chose to go with x plan, - hotel they chose.  The purpose of my inquiry is to educate myself as to what can happen if you test positive on a cruise..  I believe the holiday cruises had more cases than any previous X cruise so they had to deal with a lot more than previous cruises. I have cruised on X twice since August - only 5 cases on board. Now I’m deciding on a March cruise?  Any info about Covid positive cruisers’ experiences will help me make an informed personal decision.
    I love cruising!

That is what I would have expected from Celebrity !  Thank you for your posts!

I hope to hear from the guests who had to quarantine in hotels and then fly home.  How did Celebrity handle that situation?   I read about reimbursements but would like to know if a good hotel was found for guests who didn’t want to book their own, if new flights were arranged for them to get home?
I would hope that Covid patients weren’t left to fend for themselves, especially after the stress of quarantine.   I had great faith in Celebrity’s Cruise with Confidence policy. I hope they live up to their stellar reputation.  X has been my favorite cruise line.

Reading posts on X Captain’s Club FB I learned that a quarantined cruiser is being housed at 4 points Sheraton, a 140/night hotel- not very nice - There are 80 rooms filled with Covid people.  She is receiving 100/day to order food - room service/ Uber eats etc.  She is not sure of arrangements to get her home. These new Covid situations are unprecedented. It is so important to know what can happen if you test positive.  Some cruisers on Edge class ships are being quarantined in porthole cabins- no fresh air.  We need to know all the info in order to make informed decisions as to whether to cruise on not during this Omicron surge.

Please add your experiences if you are one of the cruisers who tested positive recently on board.  I learned a lot from the “In Quarantine” thread and hope to learn more from other affected cruisers.  Thank you in advance for sharing your experiences,
I and all of you love cruising!

Private vehicle for each family. They were lined up waiting.

They were staggering our departures so we didn’t bunch up inside or out. We were able to watch a bit while they retrieved one on my wife’s bag from inside the terminal.

After reading this, I am more concerned than ever.  Their safe sailing website information says that if you test positive they will arrange private transportation home for you (not sure of exact wording but that's the main point).  Reading this, they say they "may be able" to assist you in that regard.  What?!?!  That implies they also may not be able to assist you!!  What kind of baloney is that!  Basically it means I would most likely be stuck trying to find a hotel that would take me, and then being stuck there in quarantine for who knows how long.  And while they apparently would reimburse for the hotel cost, what about meals, what about potentially higher air fare to fly home?  IMHO this does NOT track with what they are promising us!  Is it just me?  Does anyone else read this the same way??

Like you I had every confidence Celebrity would take care of Covid guests. Seems like they just want to dump them ASAP. I have cruised 2x since August and praised X on Princess boards for their policies. We are all disappointed in the reality!  I even switched an Encganted Princess cruise to X in March! Thank you, Parkerson for opening our eyes!  Safe travels! Be well!

  6. Final payment is upon me.  We were so excited to book the brand new Enchanted for  March 2022.   We cruised on Celebrity last August. No masks for vaccinated guests and all the dancing venues were open.  We love the Grand Foyer on Celebrity and the Piazza on Princess.
If the dancing venues are not open and masks are required while dancing we will have to switch to Celebrity. Here’s hoping that dancing is happening!  We cruise on both lines regularly. We love to dance and to snorkel!

Princess has the best southern Caribbean itinerary! At thus time Celebrity has best post-pandemic experience and procedures- cancel up to 48 hours before embarkation for full FCC,

fly you home on charter plane at their expense if you get Covid on board.
     Thanks for your input.

  7. Was the mask requirement strictly enforced ?  I was so looking forward to our 10 day March cruise on a brand new ship to our fav Southern Caribbean itinerary!  We’ve been on 2 wonderful Celebrity cruises post pandemic-No masks for fully vaccinated guests. We are triple vaccinated. My DH hates wearing masks.  We love to dance- so mask wearing in the Piazza  and other dance venues will probably be a deal breaker. 🥲 Thanks for your inout. I love cruising!

Potential first time Princess cruiser here.    I like this itinerary and duration.  Hoping you all can help me understand where masks are required on the Regal Princess.  This is what Princess says.

ALL guests will be required to wear a face mask – with no exceptions – in elevators, retails shops, in the casino, and other designated areas except while eating and drinking.  Guests will also be required to wear face masks prior to being seated in our main dining rooms and in the buffet area, and occasionally in other designated areas where larger number of guests may congregate

That's all clear except for the "other designated areas" comment.  Very ambiguous.

Can you help explain where masks are required? I'm balancing it against NCL where masks aren't required anywhere.

    Thanks,
    Dan

Celebrity doesn’t require masks either for vaccinated guests!!!! ( has never) Hope Princess soon follows Celebrity’s lead!

  10. Masks?

I’ve only sailed on Celebrity post pandemic and been more than pleased with every aspect of cruising post pandemic on Celebrity !  NO MASKS required anywhere onboard for vaccinated guests!  I booked a March, 2022 Enchanted cruise before the pandemic and am praying that Princess will follow Celebrity’s protocol and DROP the mask requirement for vaccinated guests!   My husband loves to dance and will hate doing so with a mask  on.  I recently saw a Club 6 photo on CC of people dancing without masks.  I hope this is the case on board.

Yes, but you are advised to have at least one backup test kit per person, in the event of user error, spoiled materials, etc.   Just here on CC alone there have been folks reporting their reagent bottle was empty, stuff like that.

    Thank you for the info.

  12. Alaska is best on Princess- have most permits to enter Glacier Bay and the most infrastructure in Alaska! Celebrity never cruises Glacier Bay.

I’ve cruised extensively on 6 cruise lines.
Celebrity has better veranda state rooms, but terrible closets as compared to Princess. I personally like the food better on Princess-( Blu is limiting but can order from MDR),  Solarium not on Princess, ships are better maintained and upgraded on Celebrity, more pools on Princess,  entertainment good on both- bottom line I enjoy both- but Princess is best for Alaska!

  13. I’m sailing on the 8/27 Equinox, March heart attack and 2 stents. Some of my friends who received their vaccines in Jan and Feb got dose 3 last week.  I also revived doses 2 and 3 in Jan snd Feb. Yesterday I walked into my local CVS pharmacy and got dose 3 of Moderna as well.  Although my sail date is closer than 2 weeks I feel better about going

so many posts have emphasized how careful and prepared Celebrity is.  Good luck with your decision,

  14. Hi all,

I am enjoying reading this thread in anticipation of our 8/27 Equinox Cruise. I have been on this ship many times and it is one of my favorites.
I posted this question on other threads and have only had one affirmation.
Has Celebrity accepted the CVS Rapid Antigen test at the pier?  Many are posting that they are getting them. Celebrity verbally stated they are accepting them, but the fact that Celebrity’s letter specifies “antigen tests” and not rapid antigen tests worries me. We are flying in from California so don’t have much wiggle room.
Have you or any cruisers cleared boarding with the rapid antigen test?

    Thank you!

  15. We are in our 70’s, avid snorkeled and have encountered age restrictions on so many cruise line based tours. We believe that with the increasing number of very fit  senior citizen cruisers the cruise lines should be looking for excursions that don’t discriminate solely based on age,

Most tour companies depend on the cruise lines fior their livelihood so the cruise lines should avoid doing business with the tour companies that implement age discrimination.  Money talks - the cruise lines have the power to take away their business instead of supporting tour companies who discriminate based on age. Those companies need find better insurance carriers,

    Hi,

Hope you all are having a fantastic cruise!  We are on the 8/27 cruise.  Can any of you confirm that your CVS rapid Antigen test was accepted at the port? I’m so paranoid about this.  I just scheduled the PCR test for

4:00 on 8/24.  We fly from Ca on 8/26.
im debating on signing up for Rapid

Antigen test as well. The word Rapid worries me. It would be a relief to know that your CVS Rapid Antigen test was accepted at the port?  Thank you in advance!

Great advice which should be read by cruisers.  Thank you for the clarity of your recommendations.  Cruisers are getting unnecessarily all worked up...

Thank you.  The lack of clarity of language regarding tests is stressful.
Celebrity should state that the Rapid Antigen test is acceptable. The omission of the word rapid in their messages is what causes so much concern.  Attention to detail or the cruiser could pay the price.
