  1. I can't begin to imagine the amount of work you did putting this together. Very helpful.

An observation if I may. You were considering changing the name of the spreadsheet to indicate S class ships. It is my understanding that Reflection, with the extra cabins, will not match the cabin numbers in your spreadsheet. The name change could therefore become confusing in a few months when Reflection comes on line.

  2. /sigh

I hate bumping this thread, but wanted to let people know what my travel agent said when I asked her to find out about the comparative class.

She said that when she contacted Celebrity, she was told that you could not sign up for the workshop online, you had to be onboard. According to her contact at Celebrity, the $17.50 is the price for shipping the glasses home.

Since my agent has no reason to lie to me, I'm going to believe that, as bizarre as it sounds, that is exactly what Celebrity told her.

I'm not sure how anyone can defend this as simple human error anymore. Celebrity is making zero effort to let their customers know what exactly it is that they have charged us for.

If it weren't for the fact that getting time off from work is excruciating, I would seriously be reconsidering my cruise on Celebrity.

Edit: my agent noted that she was told that she could find out what day of the cruise the workshop would be on 3 or 4 weeks out. She'll be checking back with them at that time. I wonder what she'll be told then.

Obviously, I have no reason to doubt your TA, but that is the most bizarre reason yet given for this issue. Personally, I wouldn't consider canceling the cruise just because of this screw-up. We are going on our cruise next year and I'll pay whatever the cost as I really want to experience the class. That being said, it is frustrating when you can't get a answer to a simple question.

  3. So, my question. I have checked and the final price before actually purchasing says $174 for DW and I. I have not purchased, although I plan on attending the event. Does anyone know, for sure, if I purchase now at $174 and the price finally shows $15 each, if I can cancel and re-book at the lower price? Or is there a credit added to my on board account?

    Thanks in advance.

  4. Yep, think Celebrity have caught up with it, if you try now to book on the US site it states $87 per package and if you book through the UK site it is £50.84 per package:(

Update, just went into the US site again and it stated $87 pp but carried onto the purchase page and it shows total of $34.50, presume $15 x 2 plus 15% gratuity!!!!!

    Really confused!!!!

Me too. This time I clicked the confirmation button and the price dropped from $184 to $174. I guess that's an improvement, but a far cry from $34.50.

  5. Seems not to be available now. I just attempted to book it at $34.50 for two, got to the final 'make payment' tab, and the whole thing disappeared when I clicked on it ! Started over, and the same thing happened again. Guess *X* put some sort of block on completing this purchase.

Just tried again and it says $87 per person or $184 for a couple. Not sure where the extra $10 comes from. Canceled order again and will continue to watch.

  6. I also think that we were supposed to cruise together next year on RCCL doing the Pacfic. If I remember, you cancelled and booked something else.

We ended up canceling too and rebooked on X doing the Baltics in June. It was to be our first time trying Celebrity but we cheated and booked a cruise for this Nov. to "check out the ship" before we are on the Eclipse for 14 days.

    Any excuse for a cruise;)

    Maria

True. One of the couples we were cruising with had to cancel due to a change in jobs. He found the Panama Canal cruise next May that ends in San Diego and there is nothing I like better then getting off the ship, turning toward the airport and thumbing my nose at TSA as I drive home with my 2 liters of alcohol. ;) My signature has the cruise dates.

  7. mpbmark,

Are you in the "manage my reservation" under your "My Celebrity" account? If so, it is under the beverage packages.

    Laura

Yep, just checked again. Went into ressy and to Bev Pack, Reidel and tried to purchase. Checked the box for both of us to attend and total was $184. I'll keep watching and maybe it will come down.

  8. Look at my pot above (poste #1002) and follow the link to the constellation wine list. It has the bottles priced and the last page show the package selections available for the cruise.

Copied both of them and saved them to the computer. I'll have to compare the available selections on the wine list with the price list and then consider what I would drink. Lots of work, but I have a year. ;)

    Thanks for your help. :D

  9. If you start the procrss to buy the packages it will show you waht is included. The $129 and $99 are for 3 bottles each but for different qualities of wine. You can purchase up to 7 bottles (which is $299 for the higher priced group) ... the higher priced group (ie the $129 base) is supposed to be 10% off their list prices and the lower priced group is supposed to be 5% lower than the list price. And yes they do add the 15% gratuity on top. You cannot have the bottles sent to your room as part of room service. Hope this helps. Cheers JT

Many thanks. That is a big help.

So it is $129 for 3 bottles and $299 for 7 in the higher priced group or about $43 per bottle plus 15%. Now I need to see a wine list to see if I would order bottles that are more than $43. If not, the package doesn't make sense.

At present, I can't acccess the page that allows for the purchase of a wine package. I can view the options, but can't purchase. Probably too far in advance.

  10. The last time I sailed on Celebrity, I'm not sure wine had been invented. We have spent the last few years cruising on Royal and they have considerably more limitations on beverages.

We are booked on the Millennium going through the canal of next year. I'm trying to determine the value of various wine packages. I must confess I have not searched through every page of this thread however I am wondering if someone has a listing of not only which wines are available in the various packages (Captain's and Sommelier's) but the cost of the bottles per package vs. individual purchase.

Also, I did find the webpage listing the different types of packages but they say "starting at $129" or "$99". I assume this starting price has to do with the number of bottles in the package but there is no further information. Can someone who has recently purchased a wine package indicate the number of bottles in the various packages and the respective costs?

Finally, please indicate whether the costs require the addition of a 15% gratuity.

    Thank you for any help.

  11. In 90+% of the cases, yes. There may be a plastic "spout" on the bottle that regulates the flow, but you can usually pop these off and re-fill the bottle. I'd suggest using a dedicated stainless steel funnel if you're going to do this though. Plastic is porous, and all kinds of nasty stuff stays on those funnels even after you wash them.

I'm familiar with the "flow regulator" and I always remove them from my bottles before pouring. Don't need assistance in that area yet. I'll pass along the comments regarding the plastic funnel. Never thought about that and I'll have to buy one myself.

    Thanks for the insight.

  12. It's the difference between consumption and storage. The small amount of air that's introduced when you pour it into a glass helps open the flavor profile of the liquor to the palate. Introducing a large volume of air by transferring entire bottles and then allowing it to sit in storage can destroy the profile over time.

Alright, that's similar to wine and being a "wino", I can understand and fully appreciate that.

Now, while I love my son, he is definitely not into "profiling" bourbon. I think he empties the glass way too fast to appreciate the subtly that you are referring to.

So the question remains un-answered. Is it physically possible to re-fill the bottle or is there some barrier in place?

  13. not without bruising the booze:D

True, but if you're able to pour the fragile liquid into a glass, you can probably pour from one bottle into another.

Seriously, I am curious because I purchased a bottle for my son (see post #3) and told him it could be re-filled. I haven't seen the bottle with the cap off, so I just assumed it could be re-filled.

  14. I bought a 3 - Litre bottle of Crown Royal on the Oasis last February. I believe I paid only $64 which I thought was reasonable. All my friends just crack up when they see it. I emptied it just the other day so it lasted eight months. I plan to get another when I go on the Freedom in January.

Curious, can't the bottles just be re-filled?
