tytan, they also have an outdoor grill if you want to go to kroger which is very close by and make your own hamburger and hot dogs etc - right by the pool.  Plenty of nice outdoor seating.  And plenty of indoor/outdoor seating for pizza too.

I don’t want to cook!!! Just there for one night. Check in at 4, so we will not he cooking!! LOL I’m diabetic, so no pizza for me!

Dalsal, we stayed at Home 2 Suites last month.  New hotel on Seawall, very clean, big rooms.  Less than $200 a night.

Just booked it. It gets rave reviews, or not so great reviews. But someone said they are working out the kinks!

  3. I just want a decent, safe place for one night before my cruise in November. Just me and a girlfriend. I don’t need breakfast the next morning. I was looking at 1890 Freeman House, but not sure it’s still available. I don’t want to pay $500. for 15 hours or so. I live north of Houston, but still like to go down the night before.

We always stay on the Seawall.  Plenty of bars and restaurants there and you are literally across from the beach.  The Strand is only 10 minutes away.  There is a CVS on Broadway ( the main street) that is probably halfway between the Seawall and the Strand.  There is a great Kroger on the Seawall not too far from the Hilton.

Any particular hotel on the seawall? I need to book something for November.

  5. Looking for recommendations.
Booked on AOS March 16,2023 for my granddaughter and I. We will have her mom drop us off for cruise. We will be coming from north Houston.

I was thinking of a hotel the night before the cruise, but am wondering if I will have a hard time getting Uber or Lift to the terminal. March 16, is a Thursday.
Should I get a hotel outside of Galveston? I’ve been hearing of booked transportation being canceled, so now am not sure if what to do.
Hotel recommendations would be helpful as well. TIA

  6. I did cancel my FTTF, and someone snatched it right up. Possibly they told my TA that I wouldn’t be Platinum until I completed those two days. I’m thinking it might have been because at that time I had just paid my deposit or maybe their was a misunderstanding. I’m very pleased with my TA, so I don’t feel he’s going to lie to me. Anyway, all is good!! Can’t wait to January 20!! Thanks for everyone’s input!

  7. I will be platinum two days into my cruise in January.  I bought FTTF, and I just noticed my boarding pass is gray and says Priority. Is this because I bought FTTF, or because my status changes two days in? Wondering if I can cancel FTTF? TIA

  8. The new code is Cruz15. Please consider parking with these great people! They have two lots and just finished towing as many cars as they could to higher ground, and notified the insurance companies to get the claims rolling faster. They didn't have to do this but this just goes to show how great this family is! Im booked with them in October!!

  9. No help for this cruise, but please consider using EZCruise parking! They have two lots, and they towed as many cars as they could to higher ground to save them! They didn't have to do this! Just great people! I have booked with them a lot through the years, and have a reservation for October!

  10. Harvey expected to make landfall as a hurricane. Galveston will have flooding and storm surge. Expected to be bad with the storm stalling out over the area days into next week. I don't see how anyone will be able to move thru flooded Houston to even get to Galveston. I don't even know where they will take the ships that are out now. New Orleans will get flooding too. Forecast doesn't look good at all and promises to get worse. Lots of area flooding expected.

  11. It should come ashore as a hurricane Friday evening into Saturday. Moving very slow. Expecting tons of rain and flooding with the storm surge. Slow moving stalling out for days days. Doesn't sound good. Have a friend out on Valor now. Don't see how they can bring the ship back in. Yikes!

  12. Unless it's high tide, the water is not very deep and pretty calm. Very easy to hold your little ones without much trouble. Last summer took my 6 year old granddaughter and she's a good swimmer, but a little difficult with the water being higher and rough. I have back issues preventing me to climb the ladder, ( hardest part)! But we go with Moby Dick Tours Stingray City and Snorkeling. They are great with helping kids.

  13. We took my granddaughter when she was 10 months. She was use to a pool. So we went to Margaritaville and had pool time with her there, and lunch. She is 7 now, and we still do this!

Walking distance from the ship. Shop along the way!
