  1. hello weatherman46

never been into yorky's knob by ship, but have been to port douglas on way from Bangkok to Sydney on the diamond princess, they tendered us all the way into the port.it is a fair way (I guess about15-20 miles) from cairns to yorky's knob so I would imagine there will be taxi's etc you could take and I would imagine the ship will have something organised.may I suggest you place your enquiry in the ports of call section (Australia & new Zealand)and I am sure you will get better replies than mine.

    have a great cruise

  2. my wife and I are thinking about a costa cruise /Miami to Trieste, never been on costa before.can experienced cruisers tell us what the differences we will find compared to princess and celebrity s class. we always have a balcony.

I don't expect to much info about the food as it is subjective, but mainly about their ships and services.also do they do drink packages, and are they steadfast on grauities.

    thank you in advance

  3. although our final payment is not for another 5 weeks or so,once we have made the final payment, where do we look for those cabins that are still available after 'final payment' where people have not paid up etc , so we can look at upgrading.

I know according to the web sites etc our cruise is fully booked, you never know if there are some unfortunate people for one reason or another cannot make it.

their cabin may be worth upgrading to if it is at a reduced price etc.

    thank you in advance

  4. my wife and I did a 7 day one way Alaskan cruise from Vancouver to seaward on the carnival spirit, we had a balcony (you must have a balcony) on the starboard side for cruising going north, and it was in skagway that my wifes childhood dream was fulfilled, we helicoptered to the top of the mountains inland and she had (so did I ) a sled with 16 huskies and we went around on the snow on top of a glacier for about 1/2 hour.

there is only one thing I can say about a cruise at that time of the year in Alaska, and that is 'absolutelythebestthingwehaveeverdone"

    go do it

  5. i'll give it my best shot,is it david guettas- she wolf song ''falling to pieces'' sung by sia,if it is I just love this song, great words, and I believe film clipped in Iceland where we cruised to (wife and I) just google ''falling to pieces'' its on you tube and you can listen.let me know how I went cheers.

  6. hello dinas

this had me concerned so I have just rang celebrity cruise Australia, and was told the following

as I have booked the premium alcohol package,i receive everything up to and including all the other packages, this does include all specialty coffee's.

I am not an expert in these matters so may I suggest rather than we all speculate here on what is and is not included, it may be just best to ring celebrity.i am in no way saying you are not correct, but for those that have purchased packages of various types it may become very complicated on this forum regarding who gets what.thank you

  7. we are going to Hawaii in april and we have booked the ohana east (not west) hotel.we are three couples with a separate room each .all rooms we have booked have a kitchen and (faraway) ocean view.we have stayed in the ohana west before and the east is just around the corner, very very central to the right places, and only a 15min walk to the beach.$160.00 Australian per night per room, in april, don't know about prices in December, but a decent hotel and a bit more modern than the ohana west.google it, it comes up pretty good.

    cheers

  8. as our cruise gets closer, my dear wife has asked me to ask about the costs of bingo on the solstice. she likes to transfer money into her visa before we go so at the end of the cruise any monies (and there will be) oeing to the cruise line will be there to pay her account.

can anyone tell me the costs per game ,and what prize levels their are

    thank you

  9. thank you for your replies

I did not factor in the cheaper up front fare, although it is costing $4000.00 per person for my wife and I in an aqua cabin for the 18 day / 17 night cruise to Hawaii on the solstice.

I have purchased a premium package some 9 months ago for this cruise,(my wife does not drink)so I am not complaining, just wanted to know some reasons

    thanks

  10. i was wondering why celebrity does not offer the free "123 go" packages on sailings of transpacific and transatlantic.i know there are a large amount of sea days on these trips, but if they say it is because passengers are on board more and therefor will drink more, then i don't think that is a valid point.the considered age bracket on these sailings mean that most (not all) passengers are of a more mature (in both age and mind) nature and therefor do not tend to overindulge (most not all).as passengers on these cruises pay just as much as passengers on other cruises (most not all)i find it difficult to fathom this out.

i would imagine that the cruise companies alcohol bill would be more on say a 10 day cruise around Australia with a port call everyday with a different age group (30-50years +18-30years) over the cruise from Sydney to Hawaii (18 days) with 11 sea days in it. thank you

  11. just wanted to know if there was a topless/ hop on hop off type tourist bus that does a decent trip around Honolulu etc leaving from hotels in downtown Waikiki area.

    thanks in advance

  12. just wanted to know if there is a bus (topless type ) hop on hop off anywhere near the wharf in Auckland.we will be there in early april ,and just want to do a local touristy type thing on a bus,any suggections will be helpful,

    thanks in advance

  13. I didn't think I would need to ask another question about the drink packages, but.

I have booked a premium package for myself (wife does not drink)so I am all clear on what to expect, but, some friends who are cruising with us are undecided, what they want to know is this.

if they purchase the classic package, and then find it does not cover their needs ,can they upgrade to a premium package from say the second or third day on an 18 night cruise.

advise from those who have done it would be good, and also where to go to upgrade

    thank you

  14. hello boogs,

we have been to Singapore on many occasions, either by plane or ship.

we have spent many months in Singapore all up, and I can tell you that it is one of the safest places on the planet (if not the safest) to walk around day or night in main streets (as suggested watch for traffic) or in back black allies.

the other thing you will notice about Singapore is its cleanliness,do not drop litter anywhere,as there are literally thousands of public police, and you could find yourself trying to fill a bag with litter as your punishment, very hard to do when there is none.

    enjoy beautiful Singapore.

  15. hello kjets, sorry for not getting back sooner.my wife and I have just returned from a Thailand holiday (just love that place)

no it was 4 hrs round trip, cannot remember how much it was ,but I know it was as cheap as chips. there are a couple of ways to get there, orginise with a t.a to book this trip for you or just go to where the boats/ ferries are waiting and get one to crab island. it takes about 30 minutes each way, so allow plenty of time to look around (walking) and if you like chilli crab (this is the best you'll get on the planet here). taxis to and from the ship are cheap as is the boat/ ferry ride / crab lunch.

just one last thing,it may pay to tell the taxi driver that you want to go to the wharf where the ferry takes you to palau ketam (this means 'crab island")

and also when you are buying the tickets.

no this is the last thing,no matter when you go 'it will be hot' in Malaysia,so take an aircond boat to the island, otherwise you will melt

    have a great time

  16. hello kjet,

we were at this port a couple or three years back,we had flown to Singapore then took the mail train (best time ever) to k/l for a week then back to Singapore.

when you get off the ship, there will be (as always) people selling trips, see if you can buy a trip over to 'crab island' it generally includes a hot fresh cooked lunch (if you want to) and a tour of this little fishing island and into a private house etc.it is all built on stilts, and unless you are born their ,you cannot buy or own any land or dwelling.a great 4 hr trip from the terminal.

not sure now of who we booked through but it was great.

    have a great cruise

  17. sorry folk's I didn't think I needed to ask anymore questions about the drinks package, but here goes.

If only one person (me) purchases a drinks package (premium) and my wife does not purchase any drinks package, can I get two drinks on my premium package to the total value of $13.00 at any one time.

e.g two beers @ $6.50 each = $13.00 or 1 beer and one coffee to total $13.00 at the same time.

if so then all is good, thank you

  18. yep, going on our 6th cruise next year, and got sick of the oneupmenship after the third cruise.

not only the (I am better),but the complaining about little things that they could have had fixed if they had asked instead of the whinging, and also the ailments,oh my goodness the ailments,i / we cannot believe how some people are still actually alive after they tell you what they have.

we love to meet people and I am 64 and still love sitting with older blokes and listening to their knowledge.

yep table for two is the way to go.

  19. has anyone flown from Honolulu to Sydney or Brisbane lately on either Jetstar 'star class' or Qantas business class ,and what was it like, our cruise ends in Honolulu, and I need to make a decision on flights, thank you

  20. ending our cruise in Hawaii in april next year, would like to hear from people who have flown from Honolulu to Sydney or Brisbane on either or both both Jetstar star class and Qantas business class lately. and what is it like

  21. cant seem to find any tours etc to do in Auckland run by the celebrity solstice in aprx 2015.has anyone gone to rotorua from the ship and back in time,is it doable
