  1. Im thinking of using them when our ship is in cozumel

Sent from my SM-G928T using Forums mobile app

Just got back from cruise in Cozumel, Tours Plaza was absolutely the easiest and best tour company I have ever used, you will not be sorry! Ask for Aldo he was the BEST Driver ever!! Tell him Carol & Carl said HI and see you soon!

  2. Hello all.

In Fort Lauderdale, is there any good store to buy those big clips that hold the towel attached to a chair? I haven't seen those here in Finland so I thought if I could get few in there before our cruise.

    Thanks for any answer :)

Hi, if you can access Amazon from Finland you'll find them there at a good price!

  3. We are currently on the Oasis and taking all our meals in Coastal Kitchen which has new menus for each night. There have been some amazing dishes with complex flavores. We are impressed!!! Breakfast and lunch continues with old menus which we like.

Could you post the menus for CK....please??? ;)

    Thanks, Carol

  4. Cafe Vico and Casa D'Angelo are excellent Italian restaurants about a mile away. If you want something casual and less pricey, Il Mulino is good and even closer, an easy walk of about 5 blocks.

I don't do brunch, so I can't give you good advice on that.

Thanks so much, maybe I can get someone else to chime in on Sunday Brunch!!

  5. Trulucks (seafood)

    Seasons 52 (American)

    Capital Grille (Steak)

    PF Changs (Asian)

All of those are excellent. There are a couple of restaurants across the street from the mall that are good. Tijuana Flats for one.

Thanks, any Italian favs? Is Sunday Brunch worthwhile?

  6. We will be staying at Gallery One after our cruise (Saturday ) and most of the day Sunday before heading home. I need a good place to have dinner Saturday (3adults 1 child) and maybe a Sunday Brunch. we will not have a car so it's public transportation. We like most any type of food....any suggestions?? And thanks in advance for any advice!

  7. Is barefoot just for suite guests? If so, some other posts indicated there are plenty of shaded soprs so I would not need the cabana. If not so, i would need a cabana

Yes it is....I have used the cabanas before the price increase....also just had them set up my lounger under a tree. I have not had any problems so far, I too have an issue with being out in the sun for long periods of time...hence the name RED!! :-)

  8. I rented the cabana on the beach. I liked it as you could wander the beach the shops or just stay in the cabana. The ones overlooking the water have steep steps down to the water as i recall so if anyone has mobility issues they should consider that aspect. They have a new deal, it looks like an inflatable cabana they put on the sand that cost the least. Labadee is my favorite place.

Do you have any info on this inflatable cabana?? Have not seen anything on this yet!

  9. Could someone please send me a link for the Tours Plaza, I can't seem to find them..tried Trip Advisor but no luck so far...must be something I'm doing wrong!!

    Thanks in advance!

  11. So we chose poorly and went to the suite reception instead of the meet & mingle. Been trying to spot some pink boas! I'm doing a review on Twitter from one of the star class suites, but if you walk around deck 16 and see 2 people sitting in the balcony wth the hot tub, yell up to us. I'll give you 2 guesses at the names! We'd love to meet you all!

Hi, I wonder if you will be reporting about the new suite benefits on here? I'm really interested in your opinion as we will be in a SL suite (17 deck) in Aug. Enjoy you trip!

  12. The Concierge on Jewel asked us if we'd like to dine at the Captain's table. (We are D+ and also were in a full suite on that cruise.) Of course we said YES! Then we got a formal written invitation delivered to our suite. In our case, I think the Concierge was responsible for inviting guests for one night of the cruise since all 4 of the couples at our dinner were folks we'd met and conversed with in the CL. The CL on Jewel (pre dry dock) was quite small, so he got to know all of us pretty well.

That's certainly not always the case, though! I've talked to a few people who were new cruisers who were invited to the Captain's table. Somebody else told me their headwaiter in the MDR set it up for them. Another lady from a long ago cruise told me she had had a cabin problem that required numerous visits to GS and ultimately a meeting with the hotel director, who invited her and her husband. So I'm guessing there are numerous officers on the ship scouting out prospects for the Captain's table.

As to why it's special, well...it's just special. The table is elegantly appointed, the service is outstanding, the menu is more upscale and more similar to a specialty restaurant, the wines are good, the opportunity to converse with officers is nice, and it's a fun and different experience.

The Concierge was our way in also, we were in a suite and used the lounge a lot. It happened that talking to my granddaughter he discovered they were from the same town so they became "great buddies". When I questioned if the invite would include her( since children are never invited )he assured me he would find an officer who enjoyed children no problem! I really think it was HER invitation and we got to accompany her! lol!

  13. We've seen Captain's tables on every ship we've ever sailed, both large and small, but mostly have seen them used on formal nights during early seating.

We were fortunate to be one of 4 couples invited to dine at the Captain's Table in Sept on a Jewel Alaska cruise, however our dinner was not hosted by the Captain. Our hosts were the ship Environmental Officer and the ship Doctor, both of whom were very hospitable and interesting dinner companions. It was not on a formal night, and we had late seating. (I think the Captain did host a table on one of the formal nights during early seating.)

The menu was different than the normal MDR menu that night, and the wines were nice ones. We met for cocktails before dinner, then we were led down the stairs into the MDR to the Captain's Table. (That part felt a little weird as most everyone else in the MDR was already seated...and we all walked down the grand staircase to the big table like some kind of little parade.) It was a really lovely meal, though - great food and good wine, excellent service, nice people, and we enjoyed it very much! It didn't really take much longer than a normal MDR dinner, but there sure was PLENTY of wine. Plus after dinner cordials. We can only hope we might someday get invited again!!:p

We also had the privilege of dining at the captains table on the Jewel last Aug./Sept. cruise. We dined with the Chief Safety Officer and another officer. Dinner was wonderful, wine was even better. If you're ever invited don't turn it down, Another couple invited didn't show up?? We had our 9YO GDD with us and she still talks about this special dinner! A night to remember.

  14. We were in 1734 and the balcony was huge. I have heard comments about the noise and we must have had a quiet cruise, because it was never an issue. With the doors shut no sound came into the room. When we were on the balcony it never got bad. I really loved being able to see the aqua show and the bellyflop competition. We have 1738 booked for next spring.

Hi, we have this room booked for this August! Can you tell me can you see the ocean from this room? Can anyone see in from below? I have a chance to move to either side on this floor should I?

    Thanks for any help!

    Carol
