Aqualand Marina? We used to keep our boat there.
Yeah I race out of LLSC down by Old Federal (crewing on fast sailboats) - and I keep my old (POS) cruising sailboat at Aqualand. (1977 Tidewater 26)
Was up there this morning (brrrrr) checking on it (and my new heater) -
Thanks again for the dreamcycle tip. Sounds great.

We are headed out on an 8 day eastern cruise next weekend on Carnival Breeze and we are pretty happy that our team made it to the Conference Championship. GO COLTS!! .
So here I am watching the game on tape delay - and perusing the boards between plays - beginning of the fourth qtr score 21-13 - and saw the title to your post - as we're sailing an 8 day in a few weeks I was interested in responses - and your first sentence takes all the suspense away...never entered my mind that a post about formal nights would talk about the NFL playoffs!!
Oh well -
-
Orange juice. Vanilla soft serve and vodka from our bon voyage bottle, ta da, adult dreamsickle.
Cant wait to try this one in a few weeks -
Might to break it out as well this summer over at Aqualand !
I'll let Ya know.
Thanks
-
Thanks - I think you are right -
must have been a Love Boat
We've sailed a bunch on both these lines.
I do recall the calamari nest and bouillabaisse were excellent on the Liberty -
With the Blue Iguana, Guys' burgers and Fish and Chips - I dont think we'll go hungry - LOL
Being a Yankee in Dixie - I miss the best part of a lobster - the NNE lobster claws.
hmmmmmm
-
Strangest thing happened to me one time sailing out of San Juan.
Upon debarkation - I noticed the end pocket of my rolling duffel wasn't zipped up tight - and I usually zip tie the end pockets as well.
Anyway - I look inside and there is all the packaging and paperwork (not counting the receipt) from a Sony Discman personal CD player. Which I had not purchased !!
Obviously some one had stolen the player from some one else's bag - and stashed the trash in my bag.
We reported it - but security seemed really dis-interested.
Being a CD player and not MP3 - gives you some idea as to how long ago this took place - LOL

Hi -
I'm pretty sure when we sailed the Liberty a few years ago they served steamed lobster claws and prawns during lunch one day - only one restaurant (fish and chips maybe) - either the first sea day - or perhaps day after formal night.
I know it was hard to find and only for a limited time frame.
Does anyone else remember this - or am I just getting senile ?? (Could it have been on a Love Boat and not a Funship ? )
We getting ready to sail the Freedom - and hoping this is still around.
Thanks a bunch.

IMHO they should definitely honor your reservation - even if they have to upsell / upgrade someone else out of a balcony up to a suite to free up a balcony for you.
Or offer a suite to you for a reasonable upsell amount - I would think there must be someone in a balcony who would be thrilled to get a call from the upsell fairy - then everyone wins.
Have you incurred other nonrefundable expenditures for this trip - airlines hotels etc ?
Bring that up with them and see if that helps your case -
Otherwise - take the inside and wine (to drown your sorrows) and get them to give you another "free cruise credit" for a future trip.
All this is based on their confirmation that this was their error - backed up by the email records.
Good Luck

Hi -
I've read a lot of posts recently where people said that their power strips and/or extension cords had been confiscated and held to the end of their trip.
I was just wondering - where these in your checked bags or carry on ?
I've always taken both in the past with no issues - for my fan and CPAP as well as so we can charge all our various devices - multiple cameras, kindle, tablets and MP3 players etc.
Shoot back in the day, I've even taken a mini travel blender with me -
Never had an issue in the past - but now am getting concerned. Of course a CPAP is medical so they'd have to provide something if they take my cord.....
Thanks for your input / comments

My promotional gift card came in my email...not in the regular mail. My 500.00 gift cards came by regular mail but my promotional gift cards came by email. Check your spam folder. Hope this helps
Thanks for the tip - but no sign of the promo ones.
BTW - my gmail account has both a spam folder and a junk folder - but no luck -
Guess I'm back on the phone Monday AM.
Thanks for the suggestion though.
Wish me luck -

Just curious - I purchased a Gift Card on Black Friday- which finally arrived the other day after several calls to Carnival. No sign of the bonus yet.
Even used a CCL MC to double up the bonus - I just hope it arrives in time for our cruise later this month.
Has anyone else run into this trouble / hassle ?
Thanks

Do people who book thru travel agents get up sell calls directly? Or does carnival go thru your TA?
exactly my question - never ever gotten the call - and our upcoming cruise GTY was the worst cabin assignment I've ever had. (all the way forward lower deck under theater)
Really hoping to move with either last minute upgrade or upsell.
we tend to use outside TA - so I may need to call myself or ask her to inquire as we get closer.
-
I'm really hoping I get that call for our wedding cruise in March. I want a suite! Doubt I will be so lucky though!
well howdy Neighbor - best of luck on getting the call - ya never know ya just might get lucky.
-
took me a second but I just figured out the last part of your signature !
"THWGT"
Cheers !

I feel your pain. We booked a GTY for the Brreeze in January. This is cruise #14 on Carnival for me.
I booked and "8A" and got an "8A". I got what I paid for so I can't really complain.
Just bummed that 2 other families that I know are going and booked the same rate as I did. They got deck 9 and this is only their 3rd cruise.
I appreciate your empathy and not flaming me - telling me to not book GTY's etc.
We've just always been up on the upper decks in the past - so I was surprised / disappointed when I saw the assignment. I know it was a gamble - and I know we;ll have a great time - guess all those extra stairs will help the waist line.
and who knows - maybe the upsell fairy will call is in the next few weeks.
-
SHIP. Freedom 8 day, inside guarantee
SAIL DATE. January 25
DATE ASSIGNED. 34 days before sailing
CABIN. Main deck - way forward port side - under the theater.
Kinda bummed as we always book GTY's and this is the worst cabin we've ever received.
Booked "4A" and got upgraded to "4B" - woo who (sarcasm intended)
Cruise #13 on Carnival and #35 in CCL family - so I guess past passenger loyalty no longer has any bearing.
-
Cant wait to hear all about your trip - and perspectives on all those pain in the @#$ .... adult things you may have been forced to endure.
We're doing the same trip next month.
Thanks for sharing -
-
While its not a towel hog here's a chair hog that my sister and I sometime brings with us...
did you make this - I so need to bring one on our next trip - mind if I copy your idea ?
Thanks a bunch.
Happy holidays everyone

Never done it on Carnival - but absolutely loved it on Princess.
We met a few days prior - for Champagne and hors d'oeuvre and to meet the chef.
He took down any food allergies and preferences while the maitre d went over basic guidelines - what to wear and expect etc.
We ate in the MDR in a velvet roped off area - after having the first courses and champagne in the galley. Several courses were prepared table side - with the requisite flames flying high.
Can't forget the "french water" added to the sorbets between courses - (grey goose)
After dinner the ladies all received long stem roses and we each got a group photo and a couples photo with chef.
An autographed Princess cook book was also presented to each couple - with a nice calligraphed copy of the menu and wine list (photos attached)
Amazing experience and I would do it again - just not too to often so as to keep it special.
I found it extra special when I found out the menu is prepared differently every time - depending on the group and what is available locally. Nothing from our menu is served anywhere else during our voyage. Also, it is a sort of contest between each of the chefs - artists showing off as it were.
Not sure how Carnivals will differ - but that is the gist of our Princess experience.
By the way - we're by no means foodies -and i'm a pretty finicky eater and we LOVED it.

..in that we've never received the Tervis as a platinum gift.
I have several small cooler bags, a few toiletry kits (never used) as well as numerous coffee mugs (and I dont drink coffee) -
Really hoping that we either are offered them or can trade for them on our upcoming cruise on the Freedom.
They are about all I use at home these days - insulated and do not sweat.
just wished they had a 20oz size - only 16 or 24 I believe-
Thanks
-
Booked about two months ago for late Jan Cruise.
No assignment yet -
We've booked GTY's a lot in the past and typically we would have our assignment by now.
Though sometimes it was around the 30 day window.
Waiting anxiously to see where they put us and really hoping for the upsell fairy to call.
(if Funship Freddy is reading this - please pass along to the parties that be - pretty please)
checking every few days - wish us luck
and smooth sailing everyone.
-
Thanks a bunch - planning on using it for our S&S account on our upcoming cruise in January.
Maybe towards pre booked shore excursion - though that would involve canceling the one we've already booked and rebooking it with the gift card. Might not be worth the trouble.
Just trying to take advantage of the bonus offer.
Thanks again - and smooth sailing whenever you go again
-
Hey Everyone -
Does anyone have any input as to the pluses and minuses of each type of gift card ?
Hoping to take advantage of the black Friday bonus offer before it expires alter this evening
Thanks a bunch
-
Does anyone have any input on one type versus the other -
Cruise is already paid in full - but not sailing till late Jan so plenty of time to receive both the card and bonus card.
Just wondering the benefits and or drawbacks to one type versus the other -
thanks a bunch - and especially thanks to the OP as I hadn't noticed this promo.
