I just checked the Princess website to see if the full atlas was there now and the entire thing is gone now.  Maybe they realized they made a mistake putting it out there and are adding the rest of the cruises to it?

    We can always dream!

  2. Count me in as anxiously awaiting the new Destination Collection (I still prefer the original name of Cruise Atlas). I received mine last year on August 14. I sure hope Princess has not discontinued the print version because so many of us enjoy sitting at our leisure planning our next adventure. It’s to Princess’ advantage to continue the print version.

  3. I totally agree with both above. A few years ago I asked the same question and was referred to Kyss. These bags are very well made and last a long time. I use them on the airplanes, by the pool and on excursions. Love them!  I just wish they would add a panel on the outside so they can slip over your luggage handle. Otherwise,  they are PERFECT!

I mentioned the following during the Mothers Day gift card frenzy and I believe it bears repeating.

For everyone who is buying gift cards and applying them to your cruise fare and who also is buying travel insursnce, particulsrly 3rd party ... please contact that travel insurance company for guidance.

Some companies will not insure amounts paid with gift cards UNLESS you have a paper trail proving that you actually bought those cards and that you used them for your cruise fare.

Do yourself a favor and find out what you might need to do now ... in case you need to file a claim.   Many insurance providers will not reimburse costs you paid with gift csrds that were given to you and not bought by you.

I investigated this a couple of years ago when I paid our entire 14-nt cruise fare with gift cards I had purchased at 10% off.

Thanks for this good advice.  I called my third party insurer and told them what I was planning and she asked "Steve" (for those who know who he is) and he said this would work as long as your paper trail shows credit to your account using the gift cards.

I purchased four $500 digital gift cards for my upcoming B2Bs and as the transaction went along, I made a screen print of each step.  I received two emails per transaction from Princess. One for the $500 and a separate one for the $25.   Each has a separate redemption number with a pin to apply to your balance.  I was able to credit my account with all four cards plus $100 from the four card bonus.  I had no problem with each one because I waited about 20 mins. after each purchase to add to my account.  I wanted the transaction to go through all the computer steps and by giving Princess time, they all went through.

I hope this helps.  Good luck everyone!

I’m curious what insurance companies you have used for travel insurance when on a land vacation.  We are touring Ireland for 14 days after a cruise.  World Nomands was suggested but I’d love to hear from you!   Do you recommend anyone or want to steer me away from someone.  Thanks for all your help.

I have had questions in the past about travel insurance and Steve Dasseos, who is the Travel Insurance Guru, has always answered my questions with good advice and options.  You might compare policies on his website tripinsurancestore.com.

Is it difficult to make specialty restaurant reservations on the Pacific Princess?  My cruise personalizer is not giving me the option to do so.  I know that they alternate between Sabatini's and Sterling Steakhouse.  I would appreciate any advice or experiences.  Thanks!

We were also concerned about not being able to make reservations before the cruise but it was no problem for our Dec. 22 cruise.  We walked into the Sterling Steakhouse on our first day onboard and could make a reservation any night we wanted.  It should be the same for Sabatini's.  Have a wonderful cruise!

I noticed the Edge is currently docked in Freeport Bahamas. I know this is where the drydocks are done as well and was wondering if anyone knows what it is doing there. Furnishings? Crew training? Final touches?

I think it is preparing for its grand entrance on Monday the 19th at Port Everglades at 7:00 am Eastern. As much as I would love to watch it arrive on the webcam, I won’t be getting up at 4:00 am! 😉

Often they have a free shuttle to take you to the parking garage (which is beside terminal 2), so if that is the direction you might need, you can just hop on it.

    Don

Thank you. I had heard about the shuttle but not sure if we could get it to the next ship. Is there a sign where you stand for pickup outside the ship?

Since the Pacific Princess will be returning from overseas after a long absence from the USA, there will likely be a US Coast Guard inspection of the ship. Usually boarding cannot start until that inspection is over, so be prepared for a wait until you can board the ship. It could be several hours.

Thanks for the heads up. I will see if we can get the latest disembarkation time off the Coral.

I got off the first ship at like 945am went through customs then hopped on to a complimentary shuttle to the other pier. Very easy. By the time I arrived at the second ship they we're already starting check in and didn't have a line.

Thanks for your reply. How did you arrange for the complimentary shuttle?

  10. You can ask at the Purser's desk while onboard Coral if they can put your luggage, or yourselves, or both onto a crew shuttle.

Saturday December 22 is a full house of eight ships at Port Everglades. And since Pacific Princess is returning from a Transatlantic rather than a closed loop cruise there is no basis to put her at the same berth she departed from, nor to offer a shuttle to distant parking areas. Meaning Royal Princess will be at Terminal 2; Terminals 4 and 19 will split among Coral Princess and Carnival Conquest; leaving Pacific Princess likely at Terminal 26. Which though not as bad as exile at Terminal 29, will not be walkable with more than hand luggage.

So just be prepared to flash a big tip at the driver as you tell them how short a ride you only need.

Thank you (I think:(). I hadn't checked the ship traffic for that day. We have never boarded under such conditions. My DH is semi-handicapped and that is why I am trying to find help. I will see what begging does for us at the Purser's Desk or if all else fails, wave the "green" flag at the pier.

  11. If both ships are at adjacent piers, for example piers 2 & 4 or both at a mid port pier then just walk over. If one is at the mid port and one at the north port then Princess may have a shuttle or you can just take a cab. The fare has been $10 for an in port transfer.

Thanks for your info. I figured a taxi driver would be miffed at such a short ride and then waiting in the taxi line again. We will have more luggage than usual so it is a matter of logistics.

  12. I am seeking information on the best way to disembark one ship and board another. We will be disembarking at Ft. Lauderdale from the Coral Princess and boarding the Pacific Princess the same morning. For those of you who have done this, how did you get to the next terminal for boarding? Does Princess provide a shuttle from one ship to another.

Thanks in advance for all replies.
