  1. . . . . Now it is just trying to save enough for another cruise and then another. I should have kept working to pay for cruises. Too late now! Like my signature states Travel First Class or you Kids Will! As for the 2017 Edition, well if you look at the following "UNOFFICIAL/PRELIMINARY" link you might see some familiar "Handles".

https://oct28daycruisehawaiisamoatahiti.shutterfly.com/rollcall We would need all the capable hands we could get.

Please keep this a secret so it doesn't get out!

    Just Mike

    Mike,

I hear ya. Once we were bitten by the travel bug there was no looking back:eek:. Since our recent retirement, saving money for travel has been our main priority. We start saving for a particular cruise 18 mos.-two years out. Hence, our interest now in this fantastic cruise.

Your new website is awesome and a fantastic idea. How do we get in touch with you to fill in some blanks?

  2. According to the port schedule for Papeete, the Emerald shows up on the 9th of November 2017 and stays overnight. Sound familiar?

And, the Emerald shows up in Nawilliwilli on the 28th of October.

    So the timing is right.

Thank you, ccrain. I'm feeling a little more confident now. The suspense is killing me!;)

  3. Unfortunately it is my understanding that the 28 day Hawaii, Samoa, Tahiti r/t LA is not being scheduled by Princess for 2017 on any ship. This info is directly from Princess customer service. Very disappointed as we were planning to book that cruise. 2016 is set for the Crown in October.

Not to be disrespectful, but I find Princess customer service to be clueless on what is going on 9 out of 10 times! I am hoping this is another one!

  4. I've been worried that Princess is going to drop this cruise altogether. It's on my list. They used to do this route twice a year and now it's only once a year. I booked it for this year, but it looks like I may have to postpone. I've been wondering if there will be one next year. I would be happy with the Ruby doing the cruise.

You and me both! This has been on my bucket list for a few years. We have finally decided to book this for 2017 and have been waiting until Spring when bookings open up. We will go on ANY ship if they will keep this itinerary.

  5. The place to ask these Q's are the sister site trip advisor forum. Many of those forum folk, live and golf daily in your ports, but they know much less, than all of us, about cruising. These are sister forums, so this site encourages you ask Q's there also

While I use Trip Advisor for lots of other things, I forgot about asking about golf for this trip. I will definitely check it out.:D

    Happy Holidays!!!!!

  6. We will be taking a Mexican Riviera cruise next September. My DH is a golf nut and wanted to know if anyone has any recommendations for golf courses in Cabo San Lucas, La Paz, Loreto and Puerto Vallarta.

Thanks in advance for any information.

  7. . . . . "Although we are Elite, the couple traveling with us isn't. It is only their second cruise. That means that in order to stay together, we will have to get tender tickets together and wait to be called."

    Judith

    Hi Judith,

I want to address your concern about getting tender tickets with your friends. We are also Elite and we had an excursion in a tender port on our summer British Isles cruise. We all four went to the desk for tender tickets and as an Elite, you are allowed to go to the tender by joining the most current group. Our friends were allowed to go with us. It was one of the best perks of being Elite and not having to wait for a number to be called.

I hope this helps and have a great time. We can't wait for our Mexican Riviera cruise next September.

  8.

I have more thoughts on the cruise, product endorsements, and other trivial comments to make. I will keep posting if you want to finish the trip with me. Otherwise, I will wrap-up tomorrow night after I give you the scoop on disembarkation and Santiago. I am happy to answer any questions.

    Cheers, Sungirl

This has been so much fun each day reading your blog. I will enjoy following you until you reach home.;)

  9. We were on this cruise in August and it was one of our most memorable. The best part about going in August was the Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Each country is totally breathtaking and you will certainly enjoy them. I was the first in my family to set foot on the soil where my ancestors were born (Cork, Ireland) and I was totally humbled.

I would also like to stress that you sign up for the Smart Traveler Program through the U.S. State Dept (http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/go/step.html). If anything happens while in a foreign country and you are registered on this site, it is the State Dept.'s duty to aid you in leaving the country safely. This is not meant to be a downer but in light of current circumstances around the world, it is just another layer of security for you and your family.

Have a wonderful time. I wish I was going back in June!!;)

  10. Only the Ocean Princess and the Pacific Princess can do the French Polynesia cruises. The Ocean is leaving the fleet and the Pacific is not scheduled to have a French Polynesia itinerary in 2016 or in 2017.

Boo hoo! I had always hoped to cruise on one of the little girls but the timing was never right. Oh well, you snooze you lose!:(

  11. Oh no! We are looking at the 2017 28-day Hawaii/Tahiti as well! Just waiting for it to open up. I wonder why Princess would discontinue as it seems very popular?!?! Where was the thread you read this in? And I wonder who the source is? Probably can't hurt for me to call Princess and ask; however, it's possible I'll get a few different answers doing that! Darn it, hope it isn't discontinued!

    Hi Yensidlove,

As you will see below, I have been following PescadoAmarillo's journeys for some time. She is currently on lengthy B2B2B (and more) cruises around French Polynesia. In her blog she mentioned that Princess might not sail there after this year. I questioned her on this and am keeping my fingers crossed that they keep this cruise.

BTW - you should go to her blogspot and read about her fabulous cruises and excursions for this year's French Polynesia adventure. She is a very descriptive writer and makes reading very enjoyable.

In your Oct. 17 post, you state that Princess is "abandoning the French Polynesian market." I am heartbroken as my DH and I were planning the Oct. 2017 28-day LA-Tahiti cruise even though it has not been listed yet. Can you elaborate on your information?

    Thank you in advance.

    "And thank YOU!

I'm sure those round trip LA- Tahiti cruises will still take place, as well as transpacific cruises. What I meant (and didn't clearly state) is that there are no more purely French Polynesian cruises on the Princess schedule. The larger ships can call at Papeete, Bora Bora and Moorea, but not Raiatea, Huahine, Rangiroa and Nuku Hiva. The lagoons are simply not large enough to accommodate the ships and the islands do not have the tourist infrastructure either for over 2000 passengers.

So I believe you'll be all set and will see the 'Big 3' of French Polynesian islands. But the tour operators on the other islands will really feel the loss of Princess cruises.

And this is all just conjecture, but it is generally believed to be the truth.

    979 days ~ 98 cruises ~ 29 ships ~ 18 years ~ 6 continents ~ 5 cruise lines

    1 happy cruiser!!

  12. While Greenland has been on my bucket list for a couple of years now, I am also interested in finding out if the 28-day roundtrip sailing from Los Angeles to Hawaii & Tahiti is included for October of 2017. I read on a recent thread that Princess may not be doing this sailing for 2017. Does anyone have any information on this or read on any threads of the possibility of discontinuing this route? If so, I will be terribly disappointed that I waited too long .

  13. And thank YOU!

Thanks for clearing that up. I am relieved (temporarily). I have a little less than one year to wait until I see the 2017 itinerary, but in the meantime, I am enjoying your cruise and adventures along with you and G! Keep up the fun!:D

  15. Hi Anita!:D

Thank you soooooooooooo much for your detailed report. We leave in five days for six days in Paris before our British Isles cruise. Your information is much appreciated. Having never been to Paris, I have been a little nervous about what we will encounter. Our plan is to do pretty much what you did with the tourist information center upon arrival. We knew that would be our first stop to save time for tickets. I appreciate your reminder to hang onto your rail ticket. All your other information is invaluable.

  16. Thank you Turtles06 and Ravenscroft. It's nice to hear different suggestions. There are so many options!

We are really happy that the U.S. dollar is so strong this year. We originally planned to visit in 2012 but things always happen for a reason.;)

  17. Thank you Hank for taking the time to answer my question. I have followed your France threads with great interest in the last couple of years. Actually we picked the 6th Arron. because you spoke so highly of the St. Germain-des-Pres area. We arrive July 25 and can't wait!

Since I have become a true Oenophile, my friends and I are really looking forward to our stay in Paris and tasting the wonderful wines of France.

Again, thank you for the suggestions.

  18. We will soon be staying in the 6th Arron. I am aware that there are wine bars in Paris but is there a vineyard close enough for wine tasting not too far from the Paris area? Also, I know it is a matter of taste, but is there a special wine in the area that is not to be missed?

Thanks in advance for any information.
