  1. I regard myself as more of a casual Azamara customer, droppingin when a good price appears as it did a few months ago. I receive regular emailsfrom Azamara and regard the communication as good (probably my British understatement). The addition of Pursuit was well marketed. WouldI have expected Azamara to have publicised more the changes that have occurred thathave been commented upon recently; probably not. As someone who picks up on offerswhen they are available, to me these proposed changes are not deal breakers. Iam looking forward to my next Azamara trip and if honest I found things like themusic offering on my last Azamara trip (about a year ago) not too inspiring soI for one will look forward to seeing what’s on offer this time. I do not know if I consider myself to beAzamara’s target customer as I’m probably too price sensitive so I willcontinue to seek value where I think I can find it. Azamara is still on my watch list along withother (small ship) cruise providers. Fluid pricing is here to stay and I think it provides good opportunitiesfor the price savvy cruiser.

    Happy cruising.

  2. Having sailed with both azamara and pando there is a clear difference in favour of azamara. Yes cruises on pursuit are more expensive, the one I have just booked is about 50% more than a pando cruise and for that I am happy with the benefits azamara offer. I am also happy with how azamara have marketed pursuit. But if you look on the azamara pages there are just as many people unhappy with the direction azamara are taking as on this page complaining about pando.

I would not look on the azamara Web page for prices though. Much better through a UK agent.

    Happy cruising everyone.

  3. If you are a member of Le Club Voyage (LCV), which you can join after you have done 1 cruise with Azamara, you can apply for an upgrade on any cruise you have booked.

You can join lcv prior to your first cruise and apply for the upgrade for your first cruise.

    Ithe worked for me.

  4. If I am on say a 14 day cruise I think it's quite reasonable to to tip the cabin staff half way through the cruise and then again at the end of the cruise. It just shows appreciation for service received. Its just the same as tipping the steward who brings breakfast to your room in the morning.

No need to wait until the end of the cruise before giving a tip.

  5. Gothenburg is no great miss, unless it was for the Christmas Market which I felt was the best I'd ever been to.

Thanks for the tip. We are visiting gothenburg this Christmas. Do you mean the Christmas market in liseberg? If it is this one did you use the excursion with pando or go independently. Thanks.

  6. We will be aracadia this Christmas. I expect there to be 2 formal nights with one on Christmas day. Does P and O still have a black and white night or is that a thing of the past?. Also do people make any special effort dressing up for the formal night on Christmas day.

    Thanks for the replies.

  7. We are on a Christmas cruise and had booked a select outside. When we asked to move to a suite it worked out that we would be better off forgoing the the 15% deposit and rebooking. The current fares are about the same as when we booked. I guess they feel they can still sell the suites.

We stayed withere the select outside we had already booked.

  8. We have sailed with HAL twice (when they left from Dover) and thought they were excellent. We preferred HAL to pando and would prefer to sail with them again other than the annoyance of the flight in particular for shorter cruises.

I'm sure you have made a good choice.

  9. I'm not too sure that pando is a low cost option any longer. I think they have increased prices is recent years and so I think it's perfectly acceptable to have reasonable expectations and when these are not met to come on forums like this and express those views.

This would be a very boring forum if it just contained posts from satisfied customers.

  10. I doubt they have another venue short of taking the library out at night more than they currently do.

I find the high seats too uncomfortable so we don't go now but can confirm the food and wines are lovely

I noticed on quest they were running up to 20 with the two high tables adjacent to the long table also being used. I felt sorry for the folks that got that table, they looked a bit detached from the conversations and enjoyment.

We had the benefit of one of the smaller tables and felt it was far superior to a large one where you are only really limited to the people around you. Buts it's good we are all different. What was good, Azamara had clearly thought about the pairing of people at the smaller table and for us it worked perfectly.

One tip, book at the desk set up just after checking in (on the dock) rather than waiting until you get on the ship to book to get a better chance of getting what you want.

  11. I do not think there was any need to apologise (but it was lovely that you took the time to). It would be a shame to see you go as you seem one of the nicer people on here (and I agree with your view about the guy at reception - but I guess it makes good tv).

  12. I guess the problem is with a 3.30 check in slot. If I had a 1pm slot I would aim for that time, knowing that if I was an hour or so late I would still get on the ship. That's not the case with a 3.30 slot. A 2 hour delay means the risk of a missed departure. Hence I would aim for a couple of hours earlier. Hence it all means targeting around 1pm or so whatever timeslot I am given.

I guess that means I'm part of the problem. But I'm just happy to read a newspaper and wait my turn.

  13. I think that if I had a 3.30 check in time I would also aim to arrive about 1pm. With a 2 hour drive for me, trying to arrive on the check in time is too risky in case of any delays. To be honest I would find a 90 min delay perfectly acceptable. Still much better than an airport.

  14. Personally I love the the discussion about other peoples cruising experiences. It's just that on freedom dinning you have to do it every night to new people. I much prefer to be able to build on the conversation as the cruise progresses with the same group of people. But its good we all are different.
