  1. My husband and I currently have 298 Captain's Club points. We are scheduled to sail on the Millennium from Hong Kong to Singapore on the Feb. 11, 2017 sailing. It would be nice to have Elite status for our two week cruise and I was wondering if anyone knew if Celebrity would upgrade our status while we are on the ship or before? I sent them an email several weeks ago, but have not heard back. Did anyone have any success with this?

  2. I was wondering about this too since we are two points away from Elite and our next cruise on Celebrity will be 14 days in Asia on the Millennium in Feb. 2017. We are planning to take a three or four day cruise in November so we can make Elite prior to our Asia cruise.

  3. The OP is correct. The assignment of guarantee cabins is done by a computer and does not take into account Captains Club status, special requests, or anything else. Whether the assigned cabin is good or bad is purely a matter of chance -- but obviously it will be one that no one has booked. We've done it twice this year and were assigned excellently-located C2 cabins on a CC guarantee. But we were lucky to get a cabin we would gladly have paid the full price for.

Bottom line: you are getting a discount in return for entering a cabin assignment lottery. If you aren't willing to take the risk, don't enter the lottery.

After final payment it seems that many cabins open up. I wasn't able to get my Captain's Club free one category upgrade when I booked our cruise we are taking next month. It was booked over a year out and I wanted to be on the port side for this S. America sailing. All C-2 cabins on the port side were gone. After final payment, I was able to move from a C-3 to a C-2 and had my choice of port side cabins. Seems like if you book a guarantee cabin and don't like the one assigned, there is a good chance you can switch it for another in the same category. I did that myself when I booked a guarantee cabin about a month out on the Reflection leaving from Miami to the Caribbean.

  4. You will get the perks associated with your reservation. I understand that there are no promotions on 2017 - yet. In comparing cruises, I find that a sharp pencil and several sheets of paper (and a stiff drink) are useful. I am acting on a suspicion that some promotion will be applied to 2017 cruises at present prices. Am I dreaming? Who knows.

I just booked the Millennium about two weeks ago for Feb., 2017. Leaving Hong Kong to Singapore and received the beverage package from Celebrity. My TA gave us prepaid gratuities and $250 shipboard credit. We booked a regular 2-B cabin and got the free one category upgrade to 2-A.

  5. Same here. I am one of those persons who enjoy travel planning and prefer to book my own travel arrangements. I like to know something about the aircraft I am flying on, the number of connections, layover time, seats ( always check on Seatguru to see if there are any pros or cons for a particular seat) and the connecting airports. I did research last winter and had a price range that I was comfortable about and fit our budget. I booked our tickets when they first became available for purchase. The FlytoFun program wasn't even available then. I feel I would not purchase though Carnival until I had time to check the above factors first. I always get nervous talking to an agent and not having a visual display of the information right in front of me before making a commitment. Different strokes for different folks. Btw.....We paid $1330.30 per person from Knoxville to Charlotte to Barcelona on American. For the return it is Athens to Philadelphia to Charlotte to Knoxville. I could have waited 6 hours in Philly for a direct flight to Knoxville but didn't want to wait that long. I consider this a fair price from this originating airport. Last winter the lowest it ever went down was $1235.00 and that was 8 weeks prior to departure date. Two days later the plane was sold out.

I'm exactly like you...I like to know everything about my aircraft, layovers, number of connections, etc. I'm trying Carnival's Fly2Fun because we are traveling to Barcelona in July with our granddaughter and R/T air during this peak time is about $1,700 from Miami or Ft. Lauderdale. I am paying 1,333 per person with Fly2Fun flexible air and only have one connection each way. I was able to pick my seats (which I checked out myself) and payment is due with my final cruise payment. We are on the July 9th Vista sailing.

  6. Are you sure he gave you the flexible plan, I can't pick a seat either.

I did book the flexible air and finally I was able to pick my seats on Delta's website. We have return flights on Air Canada and I wasn't able to pick my seats on their website, but I called them direct and they did it for me.

  7. No to rain on anyone's situation, but what's the concern that you can't select seat? Airlines always have a way of either unseating you if they need to or moving you if the situation requires it. Again, no disrespect intended. As long as the reservations eventually get ticketed, seat selections is possible. Next will come the fee to select a seat. Those that opted to right out purchase tixs are selecting the free seats I've seen as I've monitored the flight my group of 7 are on! They have their seats too!

I have always selected seats when I book our airfare. I think we have only been moved by the airlines once or twice when they changed aircraft. The reason I booked the flexible air with Carnival, in addition to the better pricing and payment due with the final cruise payment, was that they stated you could pick your seats. I don't like surprises when I get to the airport. Always feel better when I know our seats are reserved...don't want to take a chance on getting seated next to those awful bathrooms or in the middle seats. We have really good seats and I did not pay any extra for them.

  8. I am traveling with 2 other people and we want to sit together, from what I am reading now, we may not be able to pick seats till a couple of days before the flight. We may end up at different parts of the plane. The flight is a long one, so we would like to be together.

I just responded to Cruises42 post regarding booking my seats. I finally was able to use my record locator number and pick my seats on Delta. We fly Air Canada back and I had to call them and explain Carnival's Fly2Fun program to the agent and then she assigned me our seats. I have always had my seats when I book my airfare. I don't want any surprises when I get to the airport. We are traveling with our granddaughter to Barcelona and we want to sit together.

  9. If you have the reservation number you can just go into the airline website and book seats.

OK, since I've been talking about this Fly2Fun program for weeks and all the problems I've been having with it, I thought I'd post my latest experience. I finally was able to go to Delta's website and enter my record locator number and pick seats for my husband, granddaughter and myself.

We are flying back after the cruise on Air Canada. I went to their website and found my reservation, but it would not let me pick my seats. I called Air Canada and talked to an agent who told me since my ticket wasn't paid for, I couldn't pick my seats! I explained Carnival's Fly2Fun program to her and that my tickets would be paid for when I paid my final payment for my cruise. She had never heard of the program, but said she could assign the seats I wanted for me. I pulled up my reservation after I hung up with her and the seats I booked were there.

This whole process has been very time consuming and if everything works out in the end, I'll be amazed. Just the other day a girl at Carnival told me I couldn't pick my seats until June 4 for my July 9th cruise! Carnival needs to have a separate travel department for Fly2Fun. Every person I talk to there gives me different answers. They usually can't answer my questions regarding air travel without checking with someone else or looking it up! Even then, the person she checked with told her I couldn't get my seats right away!

  10. I do have flexible airfare and have not paid. I don't know how I did it but I've looked several times on Delta site and I have seats assigned.

This is strange because the girl at Carnival told me I couldn't get my seats until June 4th for my July 6th flight. Did you book your cruise with a PVP at Carnival? I booked our cruise with an outside TA. Are you flying Delta both ways? They gave me Air Canada for my return flights. None of this should matter. Right now I don't have much confidence in their Fly2Fun program. I guess I'll have to waste another hour on the phone with them and see if I get a person who knows what their doing.

  11. Hi

I just went online to Delta after Carnival sent me a PDF with my record locators and used those locators as my confirmation number and my flights popped right up and I chose all my seats. I just went in now using that same record number and my flight and seats are all there. Wonder why I'm not having trouble. Makes me wonder...

How can you pick your seats without a ticket number? A record locator number brings up your reservation, but without a ticket number you can't pick your seats? Did you book flexible air and they don't have to be paid until your cruise final payment? I did and I was thinking that you have to pay for your flights when you book them to be able to pick your seats.

  12. Hi,

I just booked my Vista airfare through Fly2fun program. It was so easy and I think I got great pricing!! I live in Minneapolis and when I was checking on my own, pricing was anywhere from $1400.00 to $1800.00 to Barcelona. My cruise is in August so I expected it to be higher but wow!! The price I got through Carnival was $1250.00 each. One of the best parts is I have until my final cruise payment date of 5-8-16 to pay off the airfare also!!

I also have the ability to cancel or change airfare up to 60 days before flight. Overall it was a great experience, the rep was very helpful and knowledgeable and helpful.

I also have some flights booked with Carnivals Fly2Fun and when I tried to call Delta and pick my seats, I was told I didn't have a ticket yet. I just have a record locator number. I called Carnival and the girl I spoke with checked and said I won't be able to pick my seats until June 4th!! We are sailing on July 9th and waiting that long to pick my seats will just not work!

  13. Booked my air transportation using Carnival's new program, Fly2Fun. A direct flight was $150 cheaper per person with the program versus online sites including the Airline's own site. The good part is, if it drops in price and it's 60 or more days before you cruise, you can cancel and book again at the lower price. Not a bad deal at all and unlike the old program, after 48 hours, you get to pick your seats.

I just called Carnival after I finally got my airline confirmation (which took a week). It had a record locator locator number on it and not a ticket number. I called Delta and without a ticket number I could not pick my seats. When I called Carnival, the girl checked on it for me and said I wouldn't be able to pick my seats until June 4th! There are three of us and we are on the Vista, July 9th sailing. That is only one month prior to the cruise departure date! If that is the way Fly2Fun works, I'm not sure I will keep my flights. Everyone I talk to at Carnival about the new airfare program doesn't seem to know what is going on. They need to have a separate department that handles just airfare. I get a different story every time I call them about things pertaining to my flights.

  14. When I booked my flights, I got the booking number right away on the phone. The agent actually had me go into Delta and check that I could access the flight information.

Did you book Fly2Fun flexible air? Did you book with a PVP or an outside travel agent?

  15. We are just off the Infinity after Dry Dock. We went to the Tuscan Grill one night. It was an anniversary gift from a friend. It was one of the best dinners we've ever had. We were with another couple. Yes the portions are large but it was great trying lots of dishes.

As for the ship itself, I would not go back on it again. The bathroom shower had rust on the bottom. The water in the shower had an odor. There was dirt in the corners of the bathroom.

    The

Glass on the Veranda was filthy. The ship really looks old even after dry dock. The service was not up to Celebrity standards. We've been on Celebrity before and always thought it was a step above RCCL but no longer. Would we go on Celebrity again, maybe but only on an S class ship. I am going to post a review in a few days. We are not complainers but this ship left something to be desired,.

Did they do anything to the cabins at all? New bedding, carpet, etc? I know they did a lot to the suites. We have only been on the S class ships...Reflection, Silhouette, Eclipse & Solstice. We are on the Infinity in S. America in January.

  16. The complimentary upgrade of one level within the same cabin class for captain's club members has not changed. You can still book a C2 for the price of a C3, or an A1 for the price of an A2 for example. You have to do this when you first book your cabin.

This latest offer is for a last minute upgrade at a fee, most likely between classes (eg. C2 to S2), at what's likely a very attractive cost....but there is a cost. You can call this an upsell offer.

I have asked for the complimentary one category upgrade after final payment (C-3 to C-2) and my travel agent was able to get it for me. When I originally booked, there were no C-2 cabins available I wanted. I was able to keep all my perks and no additional cost to upgrade.

After you booked your air with Carnival's Fly2Fun, how long did it take you to get a booking number? I called Delta and asked them if I had a reservation and they said I just had a hold on some flights? I booked with my travel agent and the Fly2Fun agent at Carnival. I got a good rate, but I'm wondering if I actually have some flights booked. Did you reserve your seats?

  18. I booked airfare a few days ago with Carnival's Fly2Fun flexible air. Had to do a three-way call with my travel agent which took way over an hour. I was checking flights out of Ft. Myers, Ft. Lauderdale and Miami so it took a while for me to find flights I was comfortable with. I didn't want any tight connections and only one connection going over and returning. I had picked out some flights myself online, but many of the ones I picked couldn't be used with Carnival's flexible air. After doing a lot of checking, I was able to book with the flights I wanted out of Ft. Lauderdale to Barcelona with one connection in Atlanta on Delta. Carnival's agent found some good flights on Air Canada from Athens to Ft. Lauderdale with one connection in Montreal. We are flying into Barcelona two days early and have booked the two-night pre-cruise hotel and transfer package. We are on the July 9, 2016 cruise on the Vista and airfare was around $1,700 each when I checked online myself. With Carnival's Fly2Fun flexible air I'm paying $1,333 each for the three of us. I am satisfied with the flights I booked...great departure and arrival times, one connection and flight protection.

  19. She came back last night and the October 29th cruise is set start boarding latter this morning. We are on that cruise will try to report back on any changes.

We are sailing on the Infinity on Jan. 17th...14 days in S. America. Look forward to seeing your pics and finding out what was done. Glad to see the overhang was painted since we are on deck 9. Did they replace any bedding or carpet in the cabins?
