  1. We booked our cruise today for May 29, 2018. We are taking the Viking Homelands cruise on the Viking Sea. We got 15% off our room price. Thank you!!! I started the roll call but it's so early I don't know if anyone else has booked yet. Thanks for the wonderful Travel agent referral.

  2. I would make it very clear directly with Viking--and not anyone else--what the policy will be for cancelling the air at a later date. Get it in writing. "But they told me on Cruise Critic" won't get you anywhere if the policy turns out to be different than you were lead to believe reading about here.

Yes, I agree with you on that one! I will, I have a call into them today.

  3. The fee is $3098.00 with $1000.00 off per person. No custom air due to flying out of Bergen, Norway. I think i'll book the air and shop and if I find it much cheaper than cancel the air portion. You can do that right? Im booking the Viking Homelands cruise for May 2018. That's a long time off still. :(

  4. I thought I read here that a lot of folks got a 15% savings using a travel agent instead of booking through Viking? I can't find it now? Anyways, is the 15 % off on all rooms or only the higher priced? My travel agent said it depends on the price of the stateroom determines the discount. I was just wondering what others have saved with their travel agents?

  5. So, Viking is offering 1,000 off air pp. Do most people take advantage of this savings? Is it better to buy your own air fare or use Viking? I want to go early will they charge me a fee for this? We would like to fly premium plus. I see it on the Delta sight for about $1800.00 pp.

  6. Thank you both for your response. I think we will book the same room that you had 2dogcarol. I called this morning and it is still available. That's great news about bringing on our own wine also. I just need to find a liquor store in Sweden. We took a Oceania cruise once and they allowed it also. We are really excited about this cruise. I have been looking at the brochure on Viking Oceans since they started. It's still two years out....Darn! We also have two dogs Carol.

  7. Hi,

My hubby and I are getting ready to book the Viking Homeland cruise for Sept of 2018. We are looking at booking a aft room on 3,4, or 5. Anyone have one of these rooms before and are the views nice? We will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. The beverage package sounds like a nice package too. Any thoughts on it?

    Thanks for any help,

    Darla

  8. I have wanted to take this cruise for many years. My husband and I will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary so I thought this would be the perfect cruise to take. Our anniversary is in late March. Is this a good time or is the fall better? How far out do you book your cruise to get a good deal? We usually book early but is it better to wait for sales? Thanks for any help and suggestions.

  9. I booked a mini suite near the back of the ship E730 over a year ago on a trans atlantic cruise this Sept and a friend of mine told me there are stairs there and it's really busy area with people walking up and down. I read the reviews on CC and no one mentioned it. On the deck plans it does not look like any walking areas to me. Thanks for your help. I think it will be a good cabin.

  10. I too get so frustrated with those seat saver types. It happens at the resorts in Hawaii too. I move it and don't think twice. If anyone says anything to me I just say you can't save the seats. I have sat for over two hours at resorts and had no one attend to the towels. Either guest or pool attendants. It is especially rude when they take the only shade by the pool. I even had older folks do this and I felt bad since one man had a Retired Navy hat on that got mad at me for moving his stuff after two hours with no one sitting there. I just don't get people and how rude they are to do this. Bad subject, sorry for ranting on and on....

  11. Im starting my 2015 cruise from South Hampton so I wonder how expensive the wine is in London where we will be staying for a few days? Seeing the price for a glass of very inexpensive wine makes me think that even paying the corkage fee and buying wine in London is more expensive than home is worth taking some with us. We took a case on with us on two cruises prior. I guess they changed the rules. Darn!!! Anyone know of a good wine shop in London?

  12. Brentlym,

Wow! Great deal. That's interesting that it includes so many different items. So maybe they offer different packages for different cruises? We are taking a 16 day cruise of Norway and Iceland so for two of us it would be over $1600.00. I think it would encourage me to drink more than I normally drink.

  13. I know about the new alcohol deal but I thought they offered a wine card. I have also seen wine packages but have never bought one so does anyone know how that works? I don't drink soda or need specialty coffees, and I don't drink mixed drinks so the $49.00 a day per person seems high for me. I just like a glass or two of wine with dinner and maybe a beer here and there.

  14. Thanks everyone for the great photos and information. I think it looks like a nice room and we will be happy with our choice. I will have to look and see if my agent stated no up grade. We did talk about it and she said she would put that down. I booked through Princess, should I have booked from a travel agent?
