I don't know about Carnival, but with HAL you can pre-book the cabanas. It's in the excursions area of the website. If the color/number isn't there then it's probably already booked. Or you can call the cruise line and check with them. I would not wait until you are on the cruise. I booked our cabana for a December cruise in September and most of them were already gone.

I searched all over and couldn't find an answer to this question. Our family of four will be on the Koningsdam in December. We usually don't pay for internet on a cruise but this time two of us have to be able to check emails every day. Will we be able to share an internet package as long as only one device is on at a time? Or will each person be required to buy a package? Thanks for the help -

Our cruise is in December. My husband and I have been to St. Thomas before but my kids have not. They are both in college. We do not want to go to the beach and we all like history. Are we better off staying on St Thomas and doing a tour or is the experience of going to St . John a once in a lifetime thing we shouldn't miss? Thanks!

We have taken many cruises (only one other time on HAL) and this is the first time we received a boarding time actually printed on our documents. We have a time of 1:00 to board the Koningsdam. However, we usually like to get to the ship early to eat lunch and tour the ship before sail away. Will we be forced to wait until 1:00 if we show up earlier at the port? Thanks!

Have you tried Twinings Cold Brew Tea bags? I really like the green tea with mint. There are five different varieties.
Here's a link so you can check it out-

This sounds like a great solution. I will definitely try them out before we go. I usually like to make tea in bulk and put it in the refrigerator, but it's so hard to do on a cruise ship. I know it sounds silly, but some people are very particular about wine or liquor and I am just very particular about my tea.
What's interesting about not being able to bring about an electric kettle is that one cruise we were on a few years ago (it may have been on the Oosterdam to Mexico) actually had an electric kettle in every room. The ship had been on a European itinerary with a lot of British passengers.
Thanks everyone for the information.

I will be on the Koningsdam in December and was wondering if I will be allowed to bring an electric hot water kettle for my stateroom. I drink a lot of iced tea and absolutely hate the kind that comes out of the fountain. I would like to be able to make my own. Since there's no open element I would think it would be allowed. Anyone know? Thanks!

I was able to find a picture of the grey cabana with number 11 on it, so I did get the cabana I want. The problem is the maps have colors on the cabanas but they don't correspond exactly with the colors that HAL calls the cabanas. Mystery solved!

I'm trying to book a cabana on Half Moon Cay and need help with the colors vs. numbers. We are on Holland America and they identify the cabanas only by color. I originally booked Orange but decided we wanted something more quiet. I called the excursions department and she told me they had Terracotta (she said it was number 14) and Gray. On the map I have seen it looks like Gray is number 1. She said no, that is Taupe and Gray is number 11. I just want to make sure this is correct - I really don't want cabana number 1.
Anyone been there recently who can verify the colors? The cabana map I find online doesn't match up colorwise at all with what she told me. Thanks so much!

We're booked on Koningsdam 7-night cruise departing December 23rd. Any idea which nights will be gala nights? Christmas Eve or Christmas Day? Will the other one be on the at sea day on the 28th? I'm just trying to plan nights at speciality restaurants. Thanks.
