That was exactly my feeling from the same cruise. And I have never come across a more aloof or unfriendly captain before. It will be going on my post cruise survey. The wait staff, bar servers, baristas etc were their usual friendly and cheerful selves. Food was excellent I thought. From every venue.

Visibility definitely seems to flow from the top.  If the Captain and/or the Hotel Director don't make an effort, nobody else does.  That was our experience on our Journey cruise in February.  A new hotel director came on in March and things changed dramatically.  Thank goodness for the wonderful crew on all of the ships!

My OBC shows up correctly on some of our current bookings and incorrect on others.  I called and they had the correct OBC on all the bookings but couldn’t explain why the website showed some incorrectly.

Same here.  I don't even look at what's on the website anymore - half of my cruises have the correct obc showing and half do not.  Anytime I make a change such as booking an excursion, etc., my TA sends me a new booking confirmation that shows all of the obc, excursions, etc. since they no longer send you confirmations directly.

  3. Ask your TA to send you an updated booking confirmation.  It will show you all of your excursions and all of your OBC coupons.  By looking at your coupons, you can see where they took money for each excursion and how much is remaining.

We’re staying in Johannesburg for 2 nights prior to flying to Victoria Falls for a couple days. We will then fly back to Johannesburg for our Azamara pre-cruise Micato safari. Does anyone have any recommendations for a hotel in Johannesburg that isn’t too far from the airport in a safe neighborhood?

In Cape Town we’re looking for a hotel with day rooms as our flight is at 8:15 p.m. on disembarkation day.

In Johannesburg, the InterContinental is right there at the airport.  It is a beautiful hotel and the restaurant there is excellent.  Very convenient as it's an easy walk from arrivals.

  5. We learned about this early on in our AZ travels and so make a donation to the fund every time that we cruise.  We always receive a very nice thank you note from the hotel director.  It's a nice way to show appreciation to ALL of the staff and crew that make our vacations so wonderful.

  6. We have had that before and it's been an OBC that was being offered by the consortium that our TA is part of for certain cruises.

  7. If I remember correctly, when your friend expresses an interest, you fill out contact info for them on the AZ refer a friend page.  Your friend is then sent a code, which they use or provide to their TA when they book.  At this point, I believe that you would be too late to get the offer.

  8. If you receive the Essentials package as part of a booking bonus, the option to upgrade to the Indulgence package is in the add ons section of your booking when you go into "manage my reservation".  It is at the price of $900.  We do this each time and then have the added shore excursion credit to use pre cruise.

I am in Australia, just FYI, so there are obviously exchange rate differences.  I have 100% definitely taken this into account in what I am about to say:  My OBC showing on the website bears absolutely no resemblance to the OBC showing on my invoice.  Is anyone else in that position?  The discrepancy is actually in my favour at the moment, so I'm not really complaining, but I am worried that it could be just about anything when I get onboard.  Up, Down, who knows?

We have 7 cruises booked.  Only 1 shows the correct OBC on the first page when you log in.  This is Azamara's page.  When you click on Manage My Reservation, you go into the Seaware site.  At this point, I don't pay any attention to what's showing on the website.  If you have a booking confirmation that comes from AZ through your TA, this should show all of your coupons and how any charges, for such things as shore excursions, have been applied to those coupons.

All of my booking confirmations show the correct amount of OBC coupons.  The website totals at this point are irrelevant.

Out of curiosity, do you think if one of those "elusive" 10%  OBC offers came up in the future, you could have the additional 2% added?

Not sure if Australia has the same "re-faring" ability as we do here in U.S./Canada but if so, I "guess" that's how it would work.

A friend tried that when the 10% came out after taking advantage of a 5% offer and it did not work.

  11. They offer the increased OBC periodically for a short period of time.  You would be notified by email if you are included in the promo.  It's been 8% at times and even 10% once.  I know that our TA can handle it as that's how we have had it applied.  Can't answer in regards to direct booking.  However, I would recommend using a TA as it makes it easier in dealing with all situations that might arise - including repricing if a better deal comes along.

  12. When you book an excursion online, you have to be sure and click the "save" button at the bottom or they will not get added to the reservation.  I think that you have to click "save" twice.  You will still need to call to pay for them but they will show up in your account once you have saved them.

I want to renew this topic as we just booked b2b2b - each segment booked on different days so different booking numbers. I learned of the potential for additional OBC from those who posted here. THANK YOU! We now have an additional $400 for each of the 3 cruises.

QUESTION: Was anyone able to roll over unused OBC from one cruise segment to a second when each segment has a different booking number?

    Has anyone done this successfully?

We would prefer to save some of the OBC (we also received a fair bit additional when booking each of these cruises.) from the first to use for the second segment. By the way, each of these three segments has its own booking number. One Azamara rep told me we could not but reading these forums suggests that one rep's answer is not necessarily the same as a second rep's answer to a question.

On our B2B in February we were able to roll over our OBC from the first cruise to the second and we had two different booking numbers.  Not a problem at all.

The 12/20/24 Panama Canal cruise will have the Azamazing Evening, with a Carnival theme, in a theater in Cartagena, Colombia.

That's a fun one - but the logistics are incredible!

Dr H, Sorry to get slighly off topic here. We have a B2B coming up and we have to change rooms. My husband really wanted to keep the same room but it was already booked. If we want to go to port in Lisbon, where would we leave our bags?

Not Dr H but I can answer your question.  You pack up anything that isn't on hangers and leave it in your old cabin.  Your cabin steward will make sure that everything gets moved to your new cabin.  It's a good idea to tag them with the new cabin number.  We got an upgrade for cruise #2 during cruise #1 and, even though the room keys, etc. were correct, our cabin steward was not informed of the change.  Luggage ended up in the wrong cabin but was easily corrected when we realized that our luggage was not in our new cabin.
