  1. As mentioned, the #1 reson we switched over was the non-smoking policy! It's wonderful to play in the casino or walk around inside and not be covered in smoke.

Once we tried X, all of the other added amenities made us realize it was the perfect line for us.

  2. Hi All,

We have booked 9296 on the Equinox. I'm excited about the balcony size but not thrilled that it's a connecting cabin.

Can you tell me-does it connect like a hotel room, with a shared door midway in the cabin? Or is it the type that "connects" outside in the hallway? There was only 1 post in the S class cabin list and it did not mention the type of connection.

We have had bad luck with connecting hotel rooms and noise. I'm wondering if this will be the same.

    Thank you for your help.

  3. Can you pre-book a dinner for a specialty restaurant prior to boarding, and then cancel it once onboard if they are offering a discount?

The first night of our sailing is my birthday, so I don't want to get on the ship and find out Murano is booked. On the other hand, 30% off sounds great :)

  4. Although we are not sailing the Equinox until next September, I wanted to comment on Cafe al Bacio-with the drinks package, the "spiked drinks" are included. Every afternoon we'd stop by the "Cafe Bocce Ball" (as we call it) and grab an iced coffee with Baileys. The Cafe is always a highlight when sailing Celebrity!

  5. Let me take a different direction-you can buy Cucumber Vodka (made by several brands) and stir it, with ice, and a top off of Dry Vermouth. You can also float a sliced cucumber on top.

I prefer not to shake and I don't care for Gin. The Martini Bar makes a mean one of these, either shaken or stirred.

Not that you asked, but you can also make a Cucumber Saketini. Just replace the Vermouth with your favorite Sake. Make sure you are not driving anywhere after :p

  6. As mentioned previously, there is no consistency.

On our recent Summit cruise, we stopped at the Martini bar each night. I had the Classic package and ordered a Dirty Martini each time while my wife had the Premium and ordered the same thing, but with Belvedere Vodka. We enjoyed a few drinks after dinner each time, on our way to the Casino. Regular sized glasses, no issues.

On the third night, the bartender put my Martini in a giant Margarita glass that he had set aside. He thought he was funny, as did the other guests! I gladly accepted it and walked to the Casino. Technically, I only had 1 drink that night :p

  7. We recently returned from a Summit Bermuda trip and stayed in cabin 3114 (one of the restructured Conference Room cabins). Prior to sailing, I tried to find pictures of the cabin to no avail. So I thought I would post a few here, to help anyone else looking for more information.

The cabin was very comfortable for the 2 of us. There was no hallway noise, since no one really walks by this area unless their cabin is here. There was a slight hum of the engines but after the first night, we got used to it. It was never an issue.

The location was perfect for us. We use the stairs most of the time, so to our right and one deck up was the casino and the Martini Bar. Two decks up, the Cafe. If you leave the room and go left down the "private hall", the back bank of elevators are there. It seemed like no one ever used those. We could take the stairs up to dinner or the elevator up to the buffet. They open right in the middle of it, which is also close to the Sunset Bar end. Perfect!

If you have any questions about the cabin, I will try to answer them. We were not in there much but we really loved having the big window and being so close to everything that we liked to do. For an ocean view cabin, it was great!

  8. Thank you all for the help! I don't want to miss the Welly (Gordon Ramsey's fault). We are still up in the air about the Top Chef menu. I've never seen that show but I have not heard many good reviews.

New to Celebrity so I'm excited for Qsine and a new adventure!

  9. I'd like to find out which night the Summit will have Beef Wellington (don't want to miss it) and the Top Chef night (would prefer to do specialty dining that night). I did a search for the menus but I can't find anything.

Any ideas which night is which for Bermuda?

    Thank you.

  10. Last year we were on an RCI cruise and booked a Summit cruise for this year. We booked a Cat 6. We have never sailed Celebrity but are Diamond on Royal. Signed up for CC as Elite.

I called Celebrity just before final payment to change our cabin. When I did, the agent said I qualified for an "upgrade", so he priced it at the lower category (we wanted to stay at the Cat 6).

Not only did we get one of the "conference rooms", but the price dropped quite a bit since we booked. Worked out well.

  11. We have "traditional" dining booked for the early seating on an upcoming Summit cruise. Having read that the tables for 2 are very close together, would the seating style change if we switched over to Select dining once on board?

I believe I read that they use two different sections of the dining room and the Select area has tables for 2 that are more "isolated" along the railing. Is that correct?

  12. I booked a Nellie's cabana on-line. I understand you can go to the Explorations desk and "pick" a cabana or they will randomly assigned one to you.

Question: we like a LOT of sun, so which cabana would you suggest to get sun on the deck portion for most of the time there?

I've seen pictures and some of them seem to be in the shade and we want to avoid that.

    Thanks!

  13. We are arriving later in the day, so we will be overnighting in either MIA or FLL before heading to the Keys in the morning. I want to make that drive during the light of day, to enjoy it, rather than in the dark.

Any suggestions on a private car company for the MIA Amtrak station??

Someone suggested using Uber Black service....thoughts?

  14. We have a choice-get off in FTL and taxi it to the airport to pick up our rental car OR get off in MIA and taxi it to the airport for our rental car.

MIA has a great deal on a rental (and we're heading down to the Keys before our cruise, so it's closer, too) BUT my other half is in a panic about having to take a taxi from MIA at night (heard it was in a really bad neighborhood ).

Thoughts? Would you suggest a Town Car service for MIA? Or just get off in FTL or even the Hollywood station?

    Thanks for you help :o)

  15. We are taking Amtrak to Florida from New England. We had planned to get off in FLL, pick up a car and head to the Keys before our cruise. However I just found an amazing deal with Alamo out of Miami.

So if we take Amtrak all the way to Miami, how easy is it to get from the train to the airport? Via taxi or Uber? Or is their a rail connection now, right into MIA?

    TIA!!

  16. Yes, we will turn Diamond on this cruise but sailing as Emerald. I only mentioned it to note that we are not new to RCI or cruising.

I wondered if they would have all of the fun stuff, like Quest, on a "short" cruise. Thanks for that info!

Still hoping to get a 5 night Compass...just one day, so I can see how things look. We have all repeat stops for us so our plan is to get a drink package and spend our time in the sun, with umbrella beverage in hand ;) Those 5 days are going to fly by!

  17. We will be sailing on our first 5 night cruise and also the first time on the Indy. We usually sail for at least 7 nights but we got such a great deal on this one when we booked it on the Explorer, we couldn't pass it up.

I'm wondering if anyone has a Cruise Compass from a 5 nighter? I presume they only have 1 formal night, correct?

Other than being a shorter sailing, is there anything else that might be different? Even though we will turn Diamond on this cruise, I feel like I'm a newbie because of the "altered" week.

    TIA!

  18. Can you by-pass the luggage drop and park your car first? (we're going to try driving thru the opening in the fence as suggested, to get closer to the terminal) We only have 1 suitcase each and can easily roll it with us. Will a porter be easy to find to check them?

We wanted to avoid the luggage drop area since I've read it's a nightmare sometimes, with cars pulling in and out and crossing eachother. I would rather skip all that and bring my luggage from my parked car myself.

Can it be done and is it advisable?

  19. Thank you for the quick reply! On our last cruise, on the Navigator, we were excited to gamble all week only to realize once we were on board that they didn't have it....only Three Card Poker. Yuk.

I'm happy to hear the Explorer has it....makes for a much more entertaining week!
