  1. My husband had an excursion in St Thomas & played a round of golf at mahogany bay. No problem getting back to the ship on time. He had a great day & planning on going back!

  2. We just returned from radiance in August and had pre booked 3 dinners and paid before we boarded. On the first night at chops, we were offered a dining package for all 5 specialty restaurants and it would be $10 less than what we paid for the 3. Of course, we took the deal and were assured by the specialty restaurant manager we would be refunded our original monies, charged the new price and get the 30%. Muster drill was beginning at the end of our meal and were rushed to go to our stations, so I think this is where the trouble began.

Well, we enjoyed the specialty dining, took 2 trips to guest services and 2 trips to the diamond concierge to get our money refunded. Guest services told us we would get the 30% when we completed the 5 restaurants. Finally, on the last night of the cruise we were able to get our refund. And informed by the chops manager we didn't qualify for the 30% discount because we had the package. She was matter of fact on the phone, wouldn't listen to our explanation and if we didn't like her answer, too bad.. Couldn't get the bogo free diamond plus discount, either.

Won't prebook any more specialty dining and wait until we're on the ship and make sure to complete the transaction after the muster! Lesson learned!

  3. We just did this trip in August. Arrived in anchorage at 1pm, rented a car & drove 4 hours to McKinley creek cabins, about 15 min to Denali entrance. Spent the night, grabbed a lunch at their cafe the next morning & rode the bus to katishna (6hours)! Booked a air taxi flight (55 min) with katishna air taxi. It was awesome! They land near the entrance to Denali and drove us to our car. It was 3pm, and we drove back to anchorage and spent the night. Visited anchorage, then drove down to meet the ship. Saw wildlife, the glacier from the air & mt McKinley. Very doable, we weren't too tired. Had some road construction, but never had more than a 15 min delay. Hope this helps! Very easy to do a DIY trip!

  4. Our flight in August was changed as well, so we arrive in anchorage 45 min later. I mentioned that I'll have to change other reservations since we arrive later and the agent advised me to wait as flights are changed quarterly. So expect another change...

  5. I am in the middle of planning our Alaska adventure for august 2015. The date was easy to pick as this was the best time for our group to travel.

As for itinerary, pick a cruise that includes the glaciers, hubbard or glacier bay. These are spectacular. Our first Alaska cruise departed and ended in seattle and didn't include either glaciers. We learned quickly and sailed a southbound cruise from seward Alaska to Vancouver. WOW!!! Hubbard glacier was amazing. Its been 5 years and we are booked to do another southbound cruise.

Our group is from California and we are flying in a few days early to do some sight seeing. We felt it easier to do the land tour first and recover after on the cruise. We only have 3 days prior to the cruise, so we are doing a DIY land tour. We want to see anchorage, denali, and spend a day before the cruise in Seward. Very easy to book the rental car, hotel. These are all available to book now. We chose Royal Caribbean because it is the cruiseline we are most familiar with and like, so why fix what isn't broken!

Anyways, hope this helps, and read the reviews that are on here. There are a lot of great ideas and tips that I have booked! (Thanks Budget Queen!). Good luck and have fun planning. Alaska is Amazing!!!

  6. Thank you for your answer! Honored to have you respond, I just read your Alaska review today! Great information! Thank you for sharing! After researching earlier dates and comparing one way and multi destination we reserved the one way ticket to anchorage and we'll wait and book the return later! Whatever the outcome, it's OK.... We're going to Alaska!!

  7. We are booked on radiance southbound Alaska cruise august 14, 2015. Wanting to fly in a couple days early. Flights just released for the start of our trip, but it's another week before we can book our return flight. So, question is, Is it better to book 1 way ticket for each way? Or wait and book multicity flights next week? Which will save us the most money? Nice price for flight to anchorage 1 way... Thanks for any input.

  8. Yea! Thank you for alerting us about the release of the Alaska 2015 dates! Booked it!!! Had to call crown and anchor to reserve the date because the website keeps saying, due to high demand, could not make reservation on line. No problem, got our date and room! Thank you again for the information!:)

  9. We just returned from Mariner and found Luca to be quite delightful. He was very attentive, circulating around the lounge every night. He also gave me ice show tickets for my 5 year old GD and her parents who had missed getting tickets and were in an inside cabin. He is from Rome and showed me some pictures of his favorite Med destination, Sardinia. He was also quite generous with the drinks....if you know what I mean!

We just cruised the Mariner, and we loved Luca!! Found him very personable and friendly! He made it a point to circulate around the lounge every night and made everyone feel welcome! He even escorted our group off in Belize for priority tendering and took us to the front of the line!! Awesome! Great job Luca!!!
