  1. Thanks for the replies. The Sky Bar is the one above the pool deck. It usually stays open til 9 but on our last cruise (terrible - Brilliance) it closed at 6pm. Didn't know if this was a fleet wide thing.

Cool flying in from Ny wont see warm weather for over 5 months lets go sit inside. Was a huge bummer.

Was hoping they had the reggae band by the pool....Another Bummer :(

  2. Sorry misunderstood. Thought you were new to cruising not to RCCL - disreguard all the port info you already probably know about :o

It is bigger than the Explorer...but not by much. Only thing more is a barber shop, cupcake making place, Sorrentos and maybe an additional retail type store. Same layout as Explorer so you will be able to navigate ship much in the same way.

  3. We will be on her again in a few weeks for the 3rd time. First off, not only is Liberty in itself awesome but FLL (port Everglades) is my favorite port to leave from. Miami is prettier but from where we live there are only direct flights to FLL and then we would have to shuttle to Miami. FLL is just sooo easy!!! Getting to and from the airport to the ship is the easiest and quickest. WORST port we left from was Cape Canaveral. Long drive from airport to port. Lot of older people(like super old) and kids. Port itself wasn't pretty either

We also love leaving from Bayonne

The Ship - The Liberty is Beautiful and the staff is wonderful. The ports are usually pretty good also. We've sailed Liberty in Oct(2010), Feb and now in Nov. We loved our Feb cruise back in 2013. The deck party is such a blast.

The Pub was a very fun time and the guitar player/singer was wonderful both times. Our favorite thing is the Sky bar in the evening. We skip the dining room and grab a late lunch an midnight snack and spend most of our time at the Sky Bar or Pub. You will love it.

I am so excited it is coming to Bayonne. I love the Explorer (always have a good time on Exp) but the Liberty is my #1 with Explorer being #2 and Voyager #3.

I will tell you that in all my cruises there were only 2 cruises I have disliked, 1 - Freedom (ship nice, crew avg and clientele very old or kids - felt like a Disney cruise) and 2 - Brilliance (geared towards older folks, no reggae band, 1st time Id ever been bored on a vacation). I also think it was more the ports that we left from than it was the ships - although Brilliance literally had nothing fun going on at any given night, if you didn't go to the shows or main dining room. But I definitely had more fun than at work ;) Although If I would of known I would of spent my money on a different ship or just stayed in St Petersburg Fl instead of going on a cruise.

  4. Heres a really neat thing I noticed while perusing the gifts and gears of my upcoming cruise. You can actually order diapers (huggies diff sizes) and have them sent to your cabin. You can also order baby food. It may be a little pricier IM sure than at Walmart however the convenience of flying without them, more room in your luggage and if you have to pk a lot you may have to bring an extra suitcase and pay for it. In the end even tho its more money the money may be well spent and end up actually being cheaper( ie added suitcase cost)

  5. Questions for people recently (last couple weeks/ Caribbean sailings) back from Liberty

1 - What movies did they play on the Screen at night by the pool

2 - Was there a reggae band by the pool during the day

3 - Did the sky bar stay open til atleast 10pm most nights?

4 - General question - Has anyone bought the replenish pkg I believe its called. Suppose to include soda and non alcoholic bvgs - wondering if I can get like virgin bloody marys or virgin daiquiris ( Even though Im preg Id like to pretend IM drinking with my husband..LOL - I still very much want to be at the bars and in the midst of the nightlife :D)

  6. I got cruise insurance thru RCCL for my upcoming cruise. SO say a bunch more people become infected with EBOLA in the next 3 weeks before I leave my cruise am I able to cancel and get a full refund for the cost of my trip? Im pregnant and don't want to risk myself or child if this thing spirals out of control

  7. I always tell rci I am a career firefighter while making the reservation for my family and have never ever gotten a discount. Been a carreer firefighter for ten years and have tried to get this discount for six cruises now on all diff classes of royals ships and never get it.They say my state connecticut is not eligible Strange some get this discount and others dont. And anytime I go online to create a future cruise it never gives me a discount when i enter it in the dropdown list. Same price without putting it in.. Ticks me off Im always told its not applicable even though its right in the drop down menu to enter.

Its not applicable on all cruises. Out of my 16 or so cruises I think it was available on like less than half. As far as the state discount. I only have received it when I cruised out of NYC twice since Im from NY state. I am assuming FL residents get the benefit of this the most. People who are landlocked probably never get it

This is not true. I am a civilian and I get the discount

  8. Friends of ours went to the ships photographer and had him pretend to take random pics up at the helipad at sunset and then when he proposed (we were all hiding and watching) the photographer was there to capture the moment. SHe was very surprised

My husband proposed to me on the Liberty in the Viking Lounge in 2010. The reggae band was up there playing and he slipped them money to play our fave Bob Marley song while I was in the bathroom. There were like 30 people up there, not crowded. He didn't make a big spectacle or an announcement to embarrass me. During the part of the song that says "In life I know there's lots of grief, but your love is my relief" he dropped on one knee. He had given my camera to a group of women who were seated by the dance floor without me noticing, and they captured the moment :D

When I got back to the cabin there were 2 dozen of red roses waiting for me that he had the concierge in the DL order for me

  9. I am a civilian, a Telecommunications specialist for my police dept. I pay police union dues and work midnights, weekends, holidays and get mandated to stay past my shift on a regular basis so I def earned it. I just show my work i.d. when they happen to ask for it, which isn't often. Have never had a problem and for those that say it isn't worth it, my husband and I just received 228 dollars EACH off our Liberty cruise we just booked.

  10. Stick with the Freedom Class ships. Esp the ones out of Ft Lauderdale and Miami.

Stay far away from the Brilliance or any of the smaller ships with kids. No fun for them.

I love the Voyager class ships to. Id never go on a ship smaller than that again. Ill never make that mistake again

  11. Thank you so much!!! I would much rather walk a 1/2 mile then drive a 1/2 mile. Sitting and getting in or out of a vehicle brings tears to my eyes but I am good if I am walking, dancing or cleaning (limited bending too). Cant do xrays as this started when I was 7 weeks pregnant and I've been suffering for well over a month with this. Not sure if I pulled a muscle or if this is my one and only symptom of being pregnant. Id rather having morning sickness!!!

  12. Hi we are going to Ocho Rios in Nov. We are looking for a clean safe beach not too far of a ride from the cruise port. I am having back problems and cant sit for any long periods of time. RCCL only offers 4 tours and 2 are Dunns falls, 1 is a river rafting tour and the other is a city tour. So I cant nor would I want to do any of those

  13. I see RCCL is now offering a 35 dollar a day drink pkg for beer drinkers :) It does not list what beers are included. Has anyone purchased this and if so do you know what is covered? Mich Ultra and Red stripe maybe? Will they allow it just for one passenger now also. Since I will be pregnant this trip I wont be able to partake in ALL the fun..just some of it ;)

  14. Thanks for the replies. Keeping my fingers crossed since we booked it today.

Aquahound, we went on a Western Caribbean cruise on Brilliance from Tampa in Feb 2014 and there was an adult contemporary band by the pool...........:eek::eek: Before we left port I asked them to play 3 Little Birds and they looked at me like I had 3 heads. I go um any Bob Marley song will be fine. They continued to stare at me. I was like come on its my birthday, please play me a reggae song. They played Happy Birthday... on the Pool deck  on a Caribbean cruise . I was like ok maybe its just for the first day. I was sadly mistaken. The music was so bad we didn't go back to the main pool after the 2nd day. Id check every day and no reggae band. Ok, guess we will go sunbathe at the rock wall. The music was so bad it gave me a headache.

Worst cruise I ve ever been on! Just wanted to make sure all the Rccl ships weren't switching over to lame-o music. Sorry but I am not interested in listening to Tayler Swift or Kelly Clarkson on a cruise or ANY TIME for that matter..ever..LOL.

  15. Bellalgo Breeze - I honestly don't care that people are 70 yrs old. It wasn't about that entirely. It was the lack of entertainment mostly that was the problem. My husband and I made our own fun but theres only so many times you can listen to the piano player in the Schooner make the same corny jokes  LOL This was just to warn other cruisers so they could make a smart decision. As bad as the trip was it was better than shoveling snow - just would of chosen a different ship

  16. Hi we were on the Feb 22nd sailing. However talking to our bartender he said its always an older crowd on that ship. He did say that the 4 day on the weekend was much better.

But honestly besides the crowd what about a darn reggae band by the pool. I don't want to hear the pool band playing achy breaky heart by Billy Ray Cyrus. That's absurd. I am sorry but after cruise/ sea pass/ and air we paid 2500 for a 5 day vacation and it was not good. I expected a CARIBBEAN vacation with a reggae band and an outdoor bar open past 6 pm like on ALL my other cruises.

Sorry Traveler Thom about using "literally" Ill go with 90 percent then. Is that better?

This was just for anyone who was planning on booking the 5 day. I just wanted to make other people aware of the situation onboard so they could make an informed decision. If I had known I would of stuck with the Exp and not switched. If I can help someone and save them from spending a ton of money on a vacation that might not be what they are used to then I want to. We looked forward to this for such a long time and had our countdown clocks going.

We listened to all our Caribbean songs on our ipod for a month leading up to it. We would say cant wait to hear this while sitting by the pool. The music was so horrendous at the pool we left the area :( We talked about how we could sit and watch the sunset outside at the Sky Bar like we ALWAYS do on EVERY cruise...we would scream "OUTSIDE BABE!!!!" It has been freezing here and this winters been so awful we just really needed this trip.

PAULETTE - I have been on the Monarch and had a blast and the night life was wonderful. But if it is changing, pax who are paying have a right to know. I mean our compass was a joke. If you didn't go to the Dining Room or Production Shows (which I have seen a million times) then there was nothing to do except listen to a man play classical guitar or violinists... Not my cup of tea and 5 days of that..ughhh. Like I said the Pub and Schooner never got started til 10 pm most nights. There was nothing to do between 6 and 10 which I could care less IF the outdoor bars were open. I don't want to sit inside on a cruise
