  1. Quick update, I submitted both my application and my husband's application together. Both of our applications are now in 'approved' status. My was in approved status yesterday and I just logged in this morning and his is also in approved status. Now we'll just wait for the email notification with the e-visa. Some background, we started this process on January 18th, 2024 and had to resubmit photos.  Thanks to this site I learned to save them not only in the photo section but also the other documents section - this was the only way I could get the page to save.

For our updated photos we went to CVS and paid for a new passport photo (we didn't use since they couldn't send me a link) but I also had them take our photos with my iphone which enabled me to have a clear photo with the white background that I could crop 192 pixels x 192 pixels (2 in sq). This worked very well and they accepted these photos.

Also (US folks) our zip code was not in the drop down list so I used another zip and provided this info to them. I provided my correct zip which they could see was on the additional documents I provided and suggested that they needed to update the drop down list or allow for entering a zip code.  I included this info on a word doc I created then saved as pdf and added to the other documents section.

Our cruise is not until April 8th but I can now relax and start planning excursions.

Celebrity have stated no boarding without visa  if there is a Brazil port on your itinerary after April 9.

Thanks for the info, I'm guessing it will be the same for NCL. I'm glad I applied for the visa early since I'm having issues. Better to have spent $160 for 2 visas and not need them then to be denied boarding.

  3. I uploaded our photos in the 'other documents section in addition to uploading them in the visa photo section as suggested and was able to save. So keeping fingers crossed they'll accept these. My other issue is that our zip code is not in the drop down list of zip codes, we live in Dunedin, FL near Clearwater. I noticed there are no Clearwater, FL (popular FL destination) zip codes either so this is another issue with their site. They should allow you to enter the zip code instead of having a drop down to choose. I recently got a Visa for Turkey and Egypt (November 2023)  and had no issues with either of their eVisa sites, had our eVisas within 24 hours. Our cruise is not until April 10 and we fly in on the 9th so I won't need the visa for us to get into the country I only want to make sure we aren't denied boarding the ship. We're on a transatlantic cruise and if I needed to stay on the ship at the ports in Brazil I'll live with that. We visit 4 ports with the final being on 4/15, I only wish Brazil would have moved this date a week out in the future. 🙂

They do look there, I just put a new one there yesterday and had my rejection this morning.

  5. Has anyone actually gotten any response from Brazil evisa that your uploaded photos did make it even though we keep getting the error and can't save the new photos?

I applied for my and my husbands visa using the Brazil eVisa site and received notification the following day that our visa photos needed to be resubmitted (My husband's was blurry and mine had hair in my face). So we got new photo's done at CVS but when I tried to upload I kept getting the same error message everyone else has reported earlier in this thread. When I exit the Brazil evisa site and then go back into it I see the new photos on my application I'm not sure if the upload really worked or not since it won't let me save.

I did speak with customer service a week ago and he took all the info and said he'd report it to the department that is reviewing the visa applications and not to worry since they know there are issues with the website. BUT I haven't heard back from them. The website also did not have our zipcode in the drop down so I provided him with our correct zipcode and asked that he request to have that updated too.

Just wondering if anyone has had any luck. Our cruise is 4/10/2024 and we're flying in early so we won't need the visa when we enter the country but it's a TA ending in Lisbon and we're visiting 4 other ports in Brazil after the 10th.  Thanks, Jeanne

  6. We also received the cancellation notice for our May 15th cruise last week and the FCC today. The refund form will be available on the NCL site beginning May 7th. You can fill it our then to request a refund.

  7. We recently returned from a Med cruise and our Rome exclusion with Vinny was so wonderful that we ended up cancelling our cruise ship excursions for Florence and Naples and booked them with Rome In A Limo. All of our drivers were excellent, it was our first time to Italy and they were wonderful providing details and offering recommendations to make our tour memorable. Vinnie recommended a wonderful Italian restaurant near the Vatican, L'Insalata Ricca. Also having a personal tour guide for the Vatican was a wonderful recommendation. Vincenzo who was our driver in Florence recommended the Galileo Museum for us since my husband is an astro-photographer.. He also took us to a beautiful little winery in Tuscany for a wine tasting, what a wonderful day. Finally on our last day in Naples, Vincenzo gave us a memorable tour of Pompei, Positano, Sorrento and the Amalfi coast, not to forget the Limoncello. We enjoyed all of our drivers and would highly recommend them. We hope to return to Italy one day and will most certainly use Rome In a Limo.

  8. Since there are many related threads I thought I'd post this here too.We just returned from a cruise last week to Havana on NCL and booked a private tour with Havana tours with Blexie.Thais was our guide and she as wonderful, spoke fluent english and was very knowledgeable. This was a part walking tour and part tour in a classic car with lunch at a paladar (excellent btw). I would highly recommend Thais and Havana Tours with Blexie. Blexie provided the itinerary in an email (it's been posted on other threads but I can repost if you prefer). The tour consisted of Thais, my husband and me which allowed for a lot of spirited discussion. We saw many groups from the ship at the same places.

  9. We just returned from a cruise last week to Havana on NCL. Since we were only going to be there 2 days we chose the easiest/less costly route for conversion of our USD. To avoid the surcharge/penalty for converting usd to cuc we decided to convert our $$ on the ship. We chose to convert to canadian instead of euros but both options were available therfore we avoided the surcharge. We actually spent all of our cucs and ended up paying for some purchases (rum/cigars) with canadian currency. Canadian currency and euros are accepted in many businesses in Havana. We paid our private tour guide with cucs but she would have accepted canadian/euros too.

I'm a Floridian and see many questions/comments from people want to experience Cuba in a classic convertible. That is fine if that is what you really want, but we went to Cuba in August (90 degees and fortunately sunny skies- no hurricanes) and I would take an air conditioned hard top over a convertible any day. I didn't feel that we missed any experience (aside from sunburn) from not being in a convertible. Just wanted to provide this perspective.

  11. Thank you so much, I have sent an email and am looking forward to a response from him. Can you tell me a little about your itinerary and price? I assume he speaks english? We took spanish in high school a long time ago so our vocabulary is limited to 'cerveza' and 'el bano' por favor. LOL ....Jeanne

  12. I was on the NCL sky July3 to Cuba. We hireda private guide who was awesome, He sent all the documents via email including our exact itinerary with a note that only the taxes on the cars would be going to the Gov. one thing I found very interesting was the sign in the lobby of the ship that most people did not see (wasnt printed in any dailies or other information). It stated that "pirate" tours arranged at the pier, nor hop on hop off bus tours would not satisfy the educational people to people visa. I know I went before any changes but saw many Americans hiring tour guides at the pier. Very interesting.

Can you tell me who you used? We are on the NCL SKY Aug 7th. Thanks

  13. I want to thank everyone for their posts in this thread. We just returned from a cruise on the NCL Star out of Tampa (we live in the Tampa bay area and wanted to try this port instead of driving to Miami) and took advantage of the Cruise Rewards offered onboard. We liked the itinerary for the Sun in fall of 2012 - Southern Caribbean - and decided to see what was available. We had gotten an upsell from an AFT balcony to an AFT penthouse on the Star and my DH stated his preference for an AFT cabin.

As we were working with our PCC and saw the pricing for the AFT balconies and mini suites, I found cabins 1002 and 1202. We decided to book 1202 based on price and everyone's comments. Thanks so much and I now have something to look forward to in the next 12 months...
