  1. I get flamed, so let me be clear. I do pre pay the tips. I consider them a service fee.

However, in what other arena are you asked to recognize good service before you actually receive the service? My mom was a bartender; we were all waitresses. I'm all for tipping... after you have provided a service.

  2. Deleted - I was in the habit of not reading the banter that wasn't Gambee's review, and one comment struck me as quite abrasive. As I continued to read, I see it was addressed (and addressed). So, back to silent reading for me.

Gambee - Thank you for the distinctive font. It is helping me read your review and not the well-deserved accolades from your legion of fans.

  3. This was explained several post previously, but for those who don't read all of the posts on this thread...

Hello Bobby Dee - Yes, it was answered earlier, and I was answering it, too. Just like you are now answering it again. Don't really understand, given that you are giving your own re-answer, for the snarky "for those who don't read all of the posts on this thread." Seems a bit like a story about a pot and a kettle.

  4. Recently changed: all passengers traveling in the same cabin must have the same drink package.

I don't think this is true. I'm travelling with my sister and 22 yr old niece. My sister and I have the premium drink package (alcohol), my niece does not. She doesn't like alcohol, so we got her the premium non-alcohol package. Absolutely no problems.

  5. On our first X cruise (Millie), I paid full price for 2 premium alcohol packages and one premium non-alcohol. We wanted the freedom of an "all inclusive" type vacation. We LOVED it. We had cocktails, sure. But, we also had bottles of water with each meal (so no swollen toes and fingers from cruise water), fresh juice at our meals, premium coffee drinks and so much more.

When the 123Go promotion came out, it was just a no brainer for us. We drank more than we paid when the drink package was full price.

  6. FWIW - I used 123Go twice - once to an already paid cruise for the end of April 2013, and once (with the half deposit) to book a cruise in March 2014. For both, I chose the drink package option, and I upgraded the packages to premium.

My booking documents both say WAV7-PREM BEV, but I've not been charged the upgrade fee yet. The drink packages do not show on my reservations under the extras. I've spoken with celebrity about both cruises, and they said I might be paying for the April 2013 premium fee while on board, and that they don't show under the extras because they're not purchased, per se.

I was really concerned about the fee for the April 2013 cruise, because I didn't want them to say "Well, you didn't pay your premium fee before final payment date, so your cruise is cancelled."

  7. You're in luck! That would be the post immediately before yours, posted by librarylady19.

Look in her signature for the hyper-link "S-Class Cabin Spreadsheet"

Edited to add: Oops, I see Dee beat me to it! ;)

Gotcha! I don't display signatures because I don't care to see how many cruises a person has been on. I'll try to find the information another way. Thank you.

  8. Did you book your orginal cruise booking with celebrity or did you use a TA? Thank you!!!

Hi there...I'd put complete trust in Host Andy's answer about either being fine. To answer your question, I originally booked directly with X using their super sparkly website.

As a side note, when I called and followed the promo for updating an existing booking, it just went to a fast busy signal. So, I called back and chose the "I want to buy me a cruise" option, and asked to be transferred.

  9. Do you know what the price difference was to upgrade to the premium?

Hi Sarah - Here's the price to upgrade (from the fine print on the promo):

Premium Beverage Package upgrade available for an additional charge of $10 per person, per day plus $1.50 beverage gratuity per person, per day by contacting Celebrity Cruises.

And, the only time I saw in the promo where you get to choose 2 of the 3 offers was on European sailings. This is from X's website describing the promotion:

And, it's worth repeating–when you book a 2013 Europe vacation, you'll be able to choose TWO of the three offers for an even more amazing vacation value. So, if you've always dreamed of a Europe vacation, we'll make that vacation even dreamier.

  10. I just got off the phone with Celebrity. I have a reservation for the end of April (2013), and the cruise was completely paid for. I wondered if I could apply the 123 Go promotion. Also, I was already in an Ocean View room.

Yes, I can is the answer. Since final payment due date is Feb 11, I was able to pay today's price for my room (didn't want to move), and take advantage of the deal. Why would I do that? We wanted to purchase 2 premium alcohol packages. The cost of those would have been 993.60. Instead, I paid today's price for my cabin, upgraded the free Classic with alcohol package and had the $50 Thank you for being a prior customer coupon taken off my booking. The net result? I saved $340.60. :D

  11. I didn't realize it, but I've found a different solution to paying the "double" rate as a solo. I invite my sister on my dime. It sounds (from the postings about being charged 200%) like I'm paying the same amount, and treating someone I love to something she loves.

Now, if I could just find a way to pack her into my suitcase so I didn't have to pay her airfare.

  12. Personally, I never use shampoo. Not on the ship; not at home. I realized I was stripping all the moisture out of my hair with shampoo, then using 2 conditioners and 3 serums to add it back in. (I have wavy hair, so it's naturally dry.) And, no. I don't use the stuff on the infomercial. Just a moisturizing conditioner found in any grocery store, and lots of (yummy, feel good) head massaging.

  13. Well cool, I'm glad having it in one place is helpful, but please can anyone say if I have described the policy correctly?

The other thing that is pretty helpful and cool in deciding this stuff is the excel spreadsheet that calculates your projected usage and tells you how much you might spend based on how you fill out the form.

    It's here; https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AtQ-heWqtag3dDB3dlRCdkk5MFJ6RFYycUM4T2Vocnc&hl=en#gid=0

To use it you need to download it and open SCREEN 1.

You OFFICIALLY Rock! Thank you for posting the info and the spreadsheet.

    Sincerely,

    A Data Monkey
