Yes, I'm from AZ and we are sailing the second week of October for fall break. Our kids go back to school first week of August each year. Fall break is usually the first through the third week of October depending on the school District.

We are also sailing the second week of October. Which ship are you sailing on?

We just sailed on Fascination last week. We were on deck 6 (Upper) and slept great until reaching port each morning. The noise begins about 30 - 60 minutes from port: A lot of noise including horn blowing and the whole boat shaking... a lot. I'm not sure if it was engine noise, propellers reversing (I'm pretty sure we backed into most ports), stabilizers or a combination of all. Also, we had a balcony room and my neighbors found it necessary to let their exterior door slam shut as they went in and out of the cabin. We were courteous and held our door so it would close relatively quietly. My mornings began every day (except sea day) at about 5:45.
Do you, by chance do reviews of your cruises? I would love to hear about it. We sail in October and I am trying to soak up as much info as I can.

Good afternoon everyone,
Last year I went on my very first cruise. It was a gift, and we were on the main level of Elation.
All night almost every night, we heard this horrible noise.:( I went to the front desk, and explained
it, and they said it was the stabilizers working. Kept me awake a lot.
June of last year, hubby got us a cruise on a Royal ship, but I made sure that we
were on top of the boat. We didn't hear anything except from neighbors every now and then.
It was lovely and enjoyable.
Hubby just booked us a cruise on Fascination, and since he's treating both our kids and my son's
girlfriend, we need two rooms. Well, we are in room R185, bottom of the ship. I'll admit my heart
sunk when I found out we were in the bottom. Just THINKING about the stabilizer noise is getting
me very upset. I have a feeling I will not sleep. I hear that the stabilizers are in the middle of the ship,
but I can't confirm this. The room where are are is in the middle of the back of the boat, so we aren't
quite that close to the stabilizers if that's the case.
Just wondering if I have anything to stress over at all? I told hubby I really didn't even feel like going
if I wasn't going to sleep the entire time.
Thanks for reading.
BTW, when are you sailing on the Fascination?

I found this on deckplangenius.com
Carnival Fascination Cabin R185 Pros and Cons
Overview
Carnival Fascination Cabin R185 is on the lower deck on the ship. Passengers who are prone to seasickness should select cabins on lower decks
Pros
Lower decks on larger ships experience less motion (vs higher decks) when ships encounter rough seas.
Cons
There are no negative attributes that have been identified yet about this cabin.
This website told me about a cabin i was interested in and where it was located (above what, under what, near what) and if i would experience noise and heavy traffic.

I have gone to the website and clicked on Manage My Booking and do not see an option, anywhere, to purchase the Wi Fi package. I am sailing on the Fascination in October and thought this was to be available online, as of April. Am I looking in the wrong place?

MITSUGIRLY...thank you so much for this in depth review. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. MY DH and 14yr son will be taking this cruise in October '17 and are so excited. I am trying to soak up every bit of info i can get.

Thanks for the review. We go in October...taking our 14yr old son...cant wait.

I am guessing i wasn't quite clear. The $10.00 difference was between the Aft balcony and the Jr suite obstructed view...i had heard good and bad things about both and was curious if someone had stayed in both and which they enjoyed more..the aft balcony or the bigger room w/obstructed view. However, it's a mute point, now b/c we switched to the jr suite w/obstructed view.

We are cruising on the Carnival Fascination, in October 2017 and currently have an ocean view room booked. We are looking to switch to an aft balcony or jr suite (w/obstructed view). I can't really seem to find enough info on either to make an informed decision. Anyone out there have reviews/suggestions/options on which one to book? There is only a 10.00 difference in price (right now), between the 2 cabins.

You can purchase FTTF as a shore excursion on the carnival website. Click on Explore on the site..then Shore Excursions..then search by port and click on your departure port...New Orleans, San Juan, etc..whichever city you are leaving from..and look for the Faster to the Fun excursion..ranges from 50-70.00, or it did a few years ago.

I have never heard on this cruiseline. We have been on many cruises, most of them on Carnival..with a couple on NCL. We love Carnival, but came across MSC when looking for deals for June 2016. We travel in groups and will have at least 3 families with us (children ages 13, 20 and 18) and may even have more. The price seems better than Carnival but I just want to make sure I am not making a mistake in choosing MSC. Are they like most cruise companies in what they offer? For free and for additional fee? I am just a bit leery. Would LOVE feedback on those that know. :)

We leave in 13 days FINALLY. We booked last summer.
So do we...absolutely cannot wait...so excited
-
Loved your review. I would also love to see the FunTimes...we sail in 20days!!!!!:D
-
i love freeport, i think now its 20.00 for the use of the hotels stuff. you can leave and come back, they have 7 pools, great beach and there are things to do at the beach. if ocean motion sports is still there you will see a huge list of things they offer, from paddle board riding, banana boat rides to parasailing, plus good food good shopping and really good drinks :)
which hotel/beach are you talking about that has the 20.00 fee for use of their facility?

Can anyone tell me what dining room is used for MDR seating at 6 pm....Scarlet or Crimson?
Thanks!!
I read that the Crimson is used for the Any Time Dinning...guessing the Scarlett is used for the other.

I hope nothing is wrong with the Dream since I'm going on it in 28 days.
Me too...I am on the same cruise.
-
I was printing my documents and noticed the boarding time is 130-3p on Carnival Dream. However, I have read that alot of people start boarding about 11a/1130a and wanted to know if that is still the case. Has anyone been on the Dream recently and knows when we can board? I would hate to wait until 130p.
-
Can't wait to see your review. I would love to see more FunTimes and Camp Carnival schedules.:D
-
Does anyone have any Funtimes from a recent Dream cruise (Key West/Nassau/Freeport)? Also, can anyone tell me about any theme nights and/or special things going on that we would want/need to know about before we travel? Getting very excited!!!!!:):)
-
Woo hoo, at the 60 day mark. We leave in 60 days, 2 months to sail on the Dream out of NOLO. CANNOT WAIT!!!!! Super excited!:):p:D
-
We are sailing the Dream in June, also.....CANT WAIT!!!!!:D
-
thanks. i am part of a roll call already, i may ask the question on there, as well...i think some of the ones going have been on this ship before. We are going on the Dream out of NOLA in June.

Does anyone know about the certain things that happen on the ship that are not listed when you book...like "deck parties" and you where the color of your deck, themed nights on the ship...things like that.. I would like to know when packing if there are certain things I need to bring for these events...like a certain colored shirt for our deck party...does this make sense?
