  1. Hello Fellow Cruise Critic's -

We are booked on a 14 day cruise from Buenos Aires to Chile. We were to disembark in Valparaiso, Chile. However, Princess Cruise line has now changed to port to San Antonio, Chile. That is fine with us. However, I booked transfers from the port to the Santiago Airport. Has anyone ever deal with "i South America" They had good reviews. However, I have written them 3 times about the change and still haven't heard back from them. They mostly deal with Cruise Port to Airport Transfers & I did notice they book tours as well. Anyone ever dealt with them or any other transfer company from the San Antonio Port in Chile?

  2. We're going on the South American Cruise in January and am looking for recommendations on active excursions with outdoor photography focused, with animals highlighted. Our itinerary is starts at Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Puerto Madrid, Falkland Islands, Ushuaia, Punta Arenas, Puerto Montt, ending at Santiago. In particular, is there a recommended Falkland Island private tour that is available? Or is there a Princess excursion that would work? I don't want to just sit on a bus and would prefer smaller groups. Hiking is desirable and natural outdoor activities is preferable. Recommendations?

Joann -Post this on the Roll Call for your cruise date. You will be able to book tours with other Cruise Critic's on the same cruise.

  3. Hi Ruth,

It is the Da Vinci dining room on the Emerald, left door entrance.

We didn't use Club Class but had good friends who did and they loved it. They didn't have to wait to be seated and service was wonderful. You will enjoy it too.

    I haven't heard any negatives.

    See you soon

    Cindy

Cindy Thanks so much for the information -I received an email from your husband Curt yesterday stating you had canceled the trip...We will miss you but as I always say "until next time". And I am sure we will run into each other soon again. Thanks

  4. Hello Cruise Critic's,

Club Class -Who has done this with Princess Cruise Line. Tell your experience please? Please tell the secrets of Club Class so we can truly experience this. We have booked Aqua Class on Celebrity for every Celebrity cruise is it similar to this on Celebrity. We are all about dining. The long dinners, wine etc. Please let us know your experience with Club Class on Princess.

  5. I've rented a car from the Europcar place opposite the port in Valparaiso. I was staying in Chile, but while I was there, friends from the cruise were picking up a car to take into Argentina. There's quite a bit of extra paperwork (need special insurance etc.) but it all seemed to be working. I was done and left before them. I've also rented cars from Avis at SCL with no problem, but not taken them out of Chile.

There's a cafe on the road to Portillo/Mendoza, just before the big tunnel, has Llamas out front, that has the best sandwich I've ever eaten: "Lomo Italien" -- lamb with tomato and avocado. Recommended,

Thanks for the cafe suggestion. I really appreciate it.

  6. Have you looked into flying from Santiago to Mendoza? Were going to Mendoza next week, prior to our cruise. We're flying to Santiago and then onto Mendoza for a few days. We'll then fly Mendoza to Buenos Aires to board our ship. The price of the flight wasn't very expensive.

    Hello 2ndsailing

Wish my husband and I were with you. This is on our bucket list -just trying to plan it well. Maybe I need to look into the flight. However I have read the drive is wonderful.

  7. 6 adult hired Carlos for several hours. Carlos picked us up at the Cruise Port. Our flight wasn't till 5:30 pm. So we had all day. Went to the rainforest -saw the Zip Line near the rainforest. We did some Hiking in El Yunque. Lunch at a local restaurant. Went to the beach. Went by several vendors and much more.

Carlos took photo's of us all day. Emailed them to us.

Great Lux Van -Snacks & Drinks included. Also have large TV Screen in van to view a video of the area you are going to while you are in route.

We have a fabulous time. -you won't be sorry.

  8. We board the ship the 1st of May. I was planning on taking black leather tennis shoes for day wear. We will not be doing any hiking. So I was hoping tennis shoes would be all I would need. I am taking jeans, sweaters, vest, scarfs and a windbreaker. That is about it for day wear. We will only stop at 4 ports on a 7 day cruise.

Will I be warm enough? I planning on taking ear muffs too!

  9. Can anyone help me please. I am from Florida. So don't have great experience with Alaska or cold weather. I wanted to ask if Black Tennis will be good enough for any of our shore exertions. We are doing an Island Wing Flight in Ketchikan and in Skagway the Yukon Discovery and Sled Dog - A great Yukon experience Then in Juneau not sure. The only other time will be on the ship or in Seattle. So will black tennis shoe do me OK. I wasn't planning on taking any other shoes for the out doors.

  10. We are traveling on a cruise to New Zealand & Australia -One of the cruise critic's posted this on our roll call. I wanted to share this with others going to Sydney -It sure was a wonderful start for planning our time in Sydney. This person is from Sydney. Great Information. Here it is:

Between Hyde Park and Central is not as good as Darling Harbour or Circular Quay it has improved a lot in recent years and can still serve as a very good base for seeing Sydney. It is quite safe. I have been working around that area of an evening recently and it is quite vibrant even later in the night with many small budget restaurants and a few older but decent pubs mainly frequented by back packers and many Asian student who live in the area. China town and Paddys Markets are also nearby.

The trains, busses, ferries and the light rail make it very easy to get around the city and to some great locations a little further afield.

A MyMulti Pass can be purchased for $23 per day. This lets you use all of the transport in the greater Sydney area and even travel as far as Newcastle to the North and Wollongong to the South or the Blue Mountains (Katoomba) in the West.

If you are staying longer in Sydney you can purchase a MyMulti weekly pass for $63.

The trains, trams and especially the ferries can get you to fantastic places without the need to hire a car.

Must do's. Of course walking around Circular Quay, The Rocks and Darling Harbour. You can walk to them all from in less than 30 mins from your hotel or if less energetic you can also reach these by either bus, train or tram.

Ferry to Manly. A great way to get another look at one of the worlds best harbours. Have lunch somewhere in Manly and walk from the ferry to the beach. There is also a swimming area in the harbour and an aquarium where the ferry berths. If you are around on December 26th you can witness the start of one of the top yacht races in the world as Sydney to Hobart yacht race begins around 1pm.

Train to Katoomba and visit the Three Sisters. They also have a cable car and scenic incline railway in the area. The train ride through the mountains is nice as well.

Train to Cronulla Beach. Walk along the beach path. Many nice restaurants to dine. Great beach for a swim. Far better than Bondi.

Train to Kiama( Around 2 hours south of Sydney) A smaller coastal town and if there is swell they have a famous blow hole within easy walking distance from the station. The train trip is very scenic in parts particularly in the last hour or so as it passes through the Royal National Park and runs close to the coast in places.

Light rail (Tram). The tram is relatively new. You can catch it from Central station. Stop off at the Star Casino if you wish (I am not a casino person buy it may be to your liking). Stop at Fish Market where you can purchase seafood and have it prepared (I find it a little crowded but many like to visit) . What I like on the tram rout is the stops at Glebe and the cafes of Glebe Pt road. There are also nice parks on the harbour foreshore and many eateries. They run every 15 minutes or so. You can just get off when it looks interesting, have a walk around and get back on if nothing takes your fancy.

If you wanted to rent a car I would suggest the number one drive would be the "Grand Pacific Drive"

    http://www.grandpacificdrive.com.au/

One absolutely stunning section is the Sea Cliff Bridge.

    http://seacliffbridge.com/

Along the drive are many great beaches. All have free parking (although they may be crowded at holiday time).

Just take the day to make your way southward at least as far as Bulli Pass. You can then turn up Bulli pass, check out one of the two great lookouts. Bulli Lookout

    http://www.thecliffhanger.com.au/

    or Sublime Point.

Another option is to have a meal and a beer at the nearby Panorama House while enjoying to view.

If you get an early start or want to drive and stay in Kiama or Huskisson for a night you could go and visit one of the worlds best beaches Hyams Beach on Jervis Bay. This is as good a beach as I have seen ANYWHERE. The whole Jervis Bay area including the town of Huskinson is spectacular and really worth a visit.

    http://www.visitnsw.com/destinations...ven/jervis-bay

Plenty more information on both Jervis bay and Hyams beach available.

I hope this give you a little food for thought.

Of course there are always the wineries of the Hunter Valley to the North, the Central Coast around Woy Woy or Port Stevens further North from Newcastle, that are all worth a drive if you have a day or two to spare.
