  1. We too were on this cruise in Haven. We had a wonderful time also. My question to OP is did you stay in The Haven or in one of the suites off the floor? We were on 11 forward and although the cabin was spacious and beautiful I don't think we would do that again. Too much of a hike to enjoy the benefits of a suite life.

Just wondering if anyone else felt the same? We also felt a bit slighted by our Butler but that is another story :(

  2. I think Geezer and RN are correct. The only way to do it fairly is to switch beds mid-cruise.

If you want to get the room for the suite perks, just swap sleeping quarters around the halfway point of the cruise. That allows both parties to enjoy the large room and deal with the small room.

PS- I recommend you take the small room first....then you will really enjoy the master and end the cruise with a much brighter outlook. To do it the other way would have you missing the master every night. :)

That was my plan, allow our friends Sun, Mon, Tues night, then we take it the rest. We also plan to use the bunk in the small bed room. I have seen the room made up and it looked cozy.

  3. I might be considering the 2-bedroom suite for 2 adult couples. Assuming we go ahead with the plan, what does everyone think would be a fair split for cost between the 2 couples? 60-40? 65-35?

We came up with a different solution with the couple we are sharing with, we are going to trade off the master half way. Plan to request the Steward to change the sheets on all the beds so everyone gets a fresh bed. May sound silly but it is fair we think.

  4. They have smaller cabanas now. Price depends on your sailing and ship. Starts at $199 with a $50 food and beverage credit. There are some great pics of the small ones if you search this thread. We have one booked for our Gem cruise in August.

Cabanas are great, we were in one in April. Small ones fit 2-6, include, drink credit, fruit, chips and salsa.

Might I suggest you join your roll call and maybe share one with another couple or two. We did and it was a great time. Strangers became friends:)

  5. Wow, let's hope that they can clear the ship quickly & begin Express Disembarkation or Self Walk-Off, if not already - as it will typically take another hour for the rest of color tags, including Priority to be called.

CCL's Splendor is the other ship docked this morning with 3,500 pax usually and there's going a traffic jam in front & across 12th Avenue as those disembarking rush out for transportation. Both ship's webcam pointed at 12th Avenue showing a lot of traffic in front of the cruise terminal, which is normal but on the heavy side for a Sunday - there's a NYC Bike Tour going on but not supposed to affect the pier area.

Even those flying home with 12:30 or 1:00 PM & later flights will have to hustle and rush to get to the airports - I feel for those still onboard & their feeling of helplessness. Even with travel interruption insurance these days, rebooking flights & making later trains can be a problem as there are fewer late day departures from area airports and they are usually 90-95% full already with the load factors. Yikes.

BA had minor issues in mid-March and it was resolved by the time we sailed - if I recall, it was propulsion-related (seals/valves ??) that resulted in slower speed.

People are reporting being off already :)

  6. Its all about personal preference

If I am sailing in a haven category i prefer to be in the actual haven

If i am in a suite i prefer forward

If i am in a balcony cabin i prefer aft

    Cheers!!

We prefer Aft but please take this advice, stay away from the 13/14 decks. The noise from above is awful! We were on 9 prior and it was excellent. We plan to go Haven next!

  7. We are booked in 9318 on the 4/27 cruise. According to our TA (she called NCL and got the low-down) deck 9 and deck 12 have the largest balconies. According to our TA, 9318 is 158 sq ft...huge! The handicapped unit on each deck is double the size but when you book one and are not in a wheelchair, and someone who is wants a handicapped unit demands one, NCL will move you to another cabin to accommodate the handicapped person...and it could be a regular balcony cabin! We could have booked the one on deck 9 but I didn't want to take the chance of being moved to another cabin when the balcony for our cabin was big enough. Because of the way the decks are tiered, our TA told us that deck 9 and 12 had the largest balconies. Also, the way they are tiered, only a small portion is visible from above, so I guess if you are going to be scantily clothed on your balcony, make sure you don't venture out to the end of your balcony!

I will take pictures and post them when we return!

We had the 9 AFT HC for our 9/13 cruise it was fabulous! SO large almost suite like.

  8. ok no pictures but we were next door in 9920
