  1. As of today cruises thru May 2017 are on the website. Seems Seabourn has moved beyond their former habit of not going more than 18 months in advance, a very welcome change from my perspective.

Actually as of the middle of last week.

Finally some good separation of the ships spread throughout the world:

    Quest in the Antarctic

    Odyssey in the Caribbean

Sojourn in Japan and then crossing to Seattle

Encore making its way back to Europe from being in Australia

And yes that is good that they have released the itineraries so early, but cannot help but think that their hand was forced due to the late delivery of Encore and them having to release those cruises over that period.

  2. Apart from the famous , has anybody any recommendations for our 1 night stay before joining the Sojourn .

    Many thanks:)

    3 words......

    Shangri-La Valley Wing

To us it is like having a taste of Seabourn on land which is just perfect before a cruise.......but their free pour champagne is much nicer.....Perrier Jouet.

  3. Sorry, Dafne, but your review somehow does not ring true. I am a huge Seabourn fan (diamond club member), but this type of review actually puts people off, sounding like a 'puff' from someone paid by Seabourn or having a free cruise.

I hope I am wrong, but seriously do think about what you say - no cruise is entirely perfect. We do not cruise with any other line nowadays, but there is never an entirely perfect trip, IMO. If yours was completely perfect ,then you were unusually lucky.

    WOW!!! This makes me speechless.

Dafne……you are the type of fellow cruiser I would like to sail with.

lincslady…..you are the type of cruiser I would not want to sail with.

I love seeing people enjoy Seabourn. I was recently lucky enough to take my mother on the Odyssey. It was her first time. It was so nice to live the Seabourn experience through someone that was new to the product. Fortunately I am not as jaded as our fellow "Diamond Member" Lincslady and I hope I never become like that either.

  4. To be honest I have always been treated very well even when I was one of Seabourns least travelled guests.

That's the good thing about a one class, one size fits all system that Seabourn has,you are all treated the same despite the size of suite that you have or the number of days travelled.

The only difference is that you are well rewarded with the best loyalty scheme at sea.

My next Sojourn trip is a free cruise earned by sailing a few days,it's a great bonus to have along with the discounts on wine and free internet.

Not forgetting the referral credit that is a nice perk if you put yourself in contact with a new cruiser.

Much more of this lark and they'll be paying me to sail.

Yes, I have to agree Seabourn have looked after us newbies very very well apart from one cruise, but JD took care of that for us!

Our next cruise earns us a free cruise too! However to to say "earned by sailing a few days" is a slight exaggeration. But yes the benefits are worth the loyalty!

    Cheers

  5. I'll let you know. If software really is more important than the hardware , I would expect a similar standard to prevail on all Windstar vessels - just remains to be seen if they are still as good 2 years on. I wonder if they still greet passengers with cold towels and drinks at the end of a day's sightseeing. Have to say that on Seabourn we were lucky if we even got a smile when we got home!

As Markham and Mr L have pointed out, Seabourn looks after its best clients.

  6. We need not worry as Jimmy has got the best TA,he's all sorted.

    When is your next trip?

    February

Forgive me Mr L, I just realised your question was in reply to Markham and hence was probably directed at him.

  7. JimmyW9,

I won't argue with you if you say you are "down the pecking order", as you put it. And of course Seabourn looks after their best clients. Assuming you have clients I am sure you do the same.

Mr L is no doubt right... You need a good TA. I could even refer one to you. Then you might get some attention. That's the least I can do.

And think about it... If all goes well you will get on the maiden voyage which I will be joining and which I anticipate will be during my birthday month. You could host a party in your suite for your friends and mine.

    Wouldn't that be something?

    Happy sailing!

Well Markham lets leave the pecking order to the people who know best! If it were left to you gods knows what trouble we would be in!

Lets hope it all works out and we are on board………..a party for two is never that much fun!:D

    Cheers

  8. You'll get your money back if you don't get on.

This also demonstrates Seabourns commitment and loyalty to past guests which I think is commendable.

I personally think that if you have got a good TA that is a big seller of Seabourn then you have a good chance of going.

It is situations like this that sorts the good TA's from the run of the mill TA's

Yes we know that the money can come back, but it is not about that. For us we like to plan ahead and know what we are doing and when. We have cruises book into the beginning of 2016, so planning ahead is important to us.

We are VERY VERY happy with our TA. We think they are the best!

    Cheers

  9. Going back to the new build maiden topic it is my understanding that priority will be given to those guests that did all three maidens on the Odyssey class ships, then any remaining Diamond members will be next based on days sailed and then it filters down to those that are left that wish to try to get on.

It's probably as fair a system as Seaboun can do I think.

    Thank you for the information.

This does somewhat put us down the pecking order! I wish this had been explained when we paid our deposit in April 2014, so I could manage our expectations.

When I was on the Odyssey in September the Cruise Sales Specialist told me that the first batch of future cruise deposits for the maiden had sold out and they had released a further batch which had nearly gone.

I guess this ensures that the cruise is sold out, but under the control of SB by offering their best clients the opportunity to take the cruise irrespective of whether they have put a deposit down or not and then choosing from the people that have committed financially to it.

    Thanks anyway!

  10. We are all important clients but I just happen to have a great TA who has a very good relationship with Seabourn.

I will report back with anything that I can find out about the new builds.

If you really want to go on a maiden voyage then it should not be too much of a problem getting on.

I have been on maiden voyages on several ships from different lines but to be honest I think the best trips are when the ship has bedded in and settled down.

Well we have our deposit down, but I guess it maybe over subscribed, so nothing is guaranteed as advised by another SB/CC member. We enjoy maiden voyages and in fact the last one we were on seemed faultless.

  11. At last an announcement of what was known to be.

I will have the pleasure of seeing plans of the first new ship on Dec 16th in London and ask questions about the new builds.

Can't wait to see what has been decided.

I guess you must be an important client of SB to be invited to such an exclusive event. Hopefully the new ships detail will become common knowledge soon. It will be good to know more, but cannot get too excited as I have read previous comments on CC that the maiden voyage won't be on a first come first served basis.

  12. -We had a well attended & jolly block party on our deck which SB is now terming their signature event

WOW, SB are really scraping the bottom of the barrel if they need to include this gathering on their "Signature Events" list

  13. Jimmyw9 - I think the problem is that you have to actually get the 'no automatic upgrade' box ticked, otherwise it is assumed you would like one! And though some travel agents may remember to ask you, some certainly do not, as you and we have found. I have a feeling that these agents think you will be very impressed with them if you are offered an upgrade, thinking that it is the agent who is responsible.

    lincslady

I think you missed my point, how could our suite be offered for upgrade when we had not been moved and could not possibly except to a lower category or less desirable suite at the same level (600 & 601).

Our TA knows exactly what we want and do not want and assured us that it should not have happened. Where would they have upgraded us to??? We were in a OW and all of the suites above were already taken. There were other OW available but we consider those to be less desirable (600 & 601).

  15. I don't really care for this DYKWIA attitude about club status and therefore having a right over anyone else to an upgrade. As a Platinum member you receive plenty of "free" amenities and surely that is Seabourns way of recognising loyalty. Plus there are many more members that have diamond status and would have sailed many more days. Not that I think this plays any part in allocating suites. It is a lottery!

We have unfortunately been victims of this "buying upgrades" fiasco. On our cruise last year we had booked a specific suite, probably at least a year in advance. In the weeks running up to the cruise upgrades were offered including our specific suite! How did I know? It was offered and taken by one of our friends, who called us to tell us of their good fortune. They did not know what suite we were in. We had booked through different TA's. We had never ticked any box to request an automatic upgrade and neither did our TA.

We spent several days whilst it was sorted out, not knowing if we would go on the cruise as if we weren't allowed that suite then we would not go on the cruise. The cruise was too long for us to accept something different.

Seabourn are very good at putting their hands up and accepting something has gone wrong and sorting it accordingly.
