  1. Just got off the Star yesterday in Venice. First time on the ship, so don't know what changed, but there are no slides anywhere, just the pool. Spice H2O I think is in the back with seats, it's covered and with large screen TVs, showing World Cup.

You can tell the carpet in some general areas were new, other areas and in the rooms (we had a mini-suite) we not.

Overall, liked the Star (and I hated the Epic due to room config). Debarkation was nutty, as they did not mention walkoffs, but there were mass lines to walk off the ship with your luggage (deck 7). We just walked off deck 4 after they let the first group go (yellow 8am)and our bags, green 1 was 2nd, were ready (8:05am). Off the ship in 15 minutes :)

Croatia was cancelled due to high wind, but other than that, had amazing time and would cruise again on the Star if the ports lined up to what we wanted.

  2. We stayed at the Amrath last May and liked it. However, if we go back, we will stay in the Jordaan district. Lovely walking city and always felt safe, even in the RLD.

We did use Rudy's Taxi company from the airport to our hotel, then the day of the cruise hired Rudy again for a tour of the tulips, and outskirt cities. He then dropped us off at the port. Rudy picked us up after the cruise for the ride to the airport.

  3. Tallinn was great, we just took a Celebrity ship tour of old town, walked DOWN the hill and had a nice stroll. Nothing special needed. It was an amazing city!

St. P, we got into a small group tour via our roll call via TJ Travel, it was full two days and it is now my favorite city (Istanbul was my top). Now going through customs at the St P port, took about 2 hours, but faster the 2nd day. TJ Travel took care of our visa but we had to complete a form from them ahead of time, via email, and it we were all set.

    Enjoy!

  4. We had a balcony on the Celebrity Silhouette last May on our 12 night cruise. I loved it. Now the weather was higher than average and believe it or not, no rain the entire 12 days.

We sat on the deck as we left Amsterdam, when we were back on board early in Estonia and loved looking at the old city up on the hill. St. Petersburg was great cruising into port and then the overnight stay. Like others said, the cruise through the archipelago of Stockholm was awesome. For me, spending all that money for a trip of a lifetime, was worth it to upgrade to a balcony. Don't forget your binoculars.

  5. might take some blowup toys for them to float on for cheap.

My wife and I always go to Walmart and buy a couple of tubes for us, cheap ones. I then blow them up and enjoy floating away. Easy to deflate and reuse during the next beach day.

I can highly recommend this guy and his company! He owns a private, secured lot with security, free shuttle, handles your luggage.... prompt, efficient. Well pleased. It is just 2-3 minutes away... right across the A1A bridge. He even gives discounts to veterans, handicapped, AAA, and public service workers.

He promptly delivers you and your luggage to the port. Then upon return, he is right there. They have several busses to shuttle you.

Unless you live really close to have a friend drop you off/pick you up, is noted above, Park n Cruise. So easy and relaxing. I just booked for our upcoming Oasis cruise in May.

  7. Well, I got this since I'm in STEP. And nope, I'm still leaving for Amsterdam for our Baltic cruise this Saturday :) U.S. Embassy Stockholm Security Message for U.S. Citizens: Police Investigation of Possible Threat in Sweden April 26, 2016 The U.S. Embassy in Stockholm has confirmed that Swedish Police are actively investigating a potential terror threat against Sweden. We encourage you to review the U.S. Department of State’s Travel Alert for Europe. Terrorist groups continue to plan near-term attacks throughout Europe, targeting sporting events, tourist sites, restaurants, and transportation. U.S. citizens should exercise vigilance when in public places or using mass transportation. Be aware of immediate surroundings and avoid crowded places. Exercise particular caution during religious holidays and at large festivals or events.

  8. When I booked my May 2nd Baltic cruise with my TA back in 2015, I selected $150 OBC per person, $300 total. I then called the TA back 2 other times verifying the OBC, Aug 2015 and Feb 2016 when making final payment) and they told me yes it is direct with Celebrity. Well, after my cruise documents were finalized and I printed it off, nothing showed. I also checked my TA invoice and no OBC showed either (after 2 verbal confirmations from the TA). I just got off the phone with my TA, they showed OBC, but no value on their system. The TA called Celebrity and then called me back. I was told my OBC was switched to the "ultimate beverage package", but I never "switched". I told my TA I was fine with the package and the TA is now asking Celebrity to send confirmation to both me and my TA. Lessons learned, get everything on an invoice from the start.

  9. My Baltic cruise in 3 weeks shows $299 unlimited only! Heck, I wanted to just log in and pay by the minute at the iLounge the day before our cruise ends and, check in for our flight and print off our boarding pass... Looks like I'll just do that at the airport.

  10. OP: Thanks for sharing. We will be on our first X cruise in May, but have cruised mostly on Carnival (NCL, Disney, RC, Princes as well). Oh and that melting cake... it's to die for. Either way, any boat we are on, even if it was the old Carnival Tropicale where I had soot all over my face from laying out getting some sun, we try to always have a fun time/

  11. I lived there in the 80s and spent 10 days there this past May. We did the 2 day HoHo bus, which took us all over the SF area, including across the Golden Gate. You can get off at most stops and walk around, like China Town, North Beach (Little Italy), etc... We did not get off at some spots like Tenderloin (and you will find out why, fast). We did a ton of walking around the town and just avoided some parts, and yes even Embarcadero and Fisherman's Warf after night fall.

  12. Thank you for this question. :) We are about to make the same airline reservations coming back to TN from Amsterdam. Last May, our flight left at 10:55 and we had plenty of time.

Good to know. We are on a 10:55am flight back to ATL from AMS in May 2016. Fingers crossed :)
