  1. Yes, this past January we booked a guarantee cabin category 3 for a Danube cruise in April. Upon payment, the invoice indicated a category 3 cabin assignment. However, two weeks before departure we were notified that we were upgraded to a category 2 cabin, midship.

Thanks, exactly what I wanted to know.

  2. We have our 3rd river cruise coming up next month with Uniworld & have a guaranteed cat 3 cabin. We have yet to find out which cabin it will be or if there will be an upgrade (doubt that, we aren't that lucky). It's our first time not having our cabin assignment upon booking so we are interested to see what happens especially since our sail date is coming up soon.

Same here. Whatever it is, I am sure will be fine. Can’t wait.

  3. Does anyone have experience with booking a guaranteed cabin with Uniworld? If so, when did you find out your cabin assignment? Were you kept in the same category booked or did you receive an upgrade? Thanks for any insight.

  4. I know this has been asked previously, but after doing a search and going back fifteen pages, I was unable to find anything. We are considering a back-to-back on the Jupiter with different itineraries (Barcelona to Rome and then Rome to Athens). Can you please let me know how Viking handles their back-to-back cruisers? Not sure if we will have the same cabin or different ones yet. If different, are we able to leave luggage on the ship somewhere until we reenter the ship? If same, are we able to leave belongings in the cabin? Are back-to-back cruisers escorted to a different line, etc.? Anyone with experience on back-to-back cruises, I would love to hear from you.

  5. Thunderstorms can cause flights to be delayed coming in and going out, so take that into account. We were flying out one year to Seattle for a cruise to Alaska, and were scheduled to leave at 9 a.m., but didn’t get out until 9 p.m. and were lucky it wasn’t cancelled altogether. We had a day built in to get there though, so all was good. Just made for a long day at the airport.

  6. I know, we wondered the same thing and thought they might be delivering supplies. Don't get in until 3:30 pm, so a night visit. Can't imagine they will be ready for tourists, and if power is still out, won't be getting off the boat. Don't mind though if they are delivering supplies.

  7. I would never "86" Fish Lover. Their posts are entertaining and offer interesting reading. As long as you don't take the bait, take it personally or seriously you can often get advice on inconsequential matters that you can then ignore.
