I am pretty sure the interpreter was arranged by the cruise line ahead of time by being informed? So I’d reach out as soon as you book to see what accommodations are available to you. 
 

Hi!   Yes, I made that post in 2014, but since then have cruised probably 15+ times and have asked the cruiseline to provide a CART typist (captioning).  It has made all the difference in the world, being able to enjoy the shows and muster drills (which were in person until the pandemic).   They even provided the typist tickets to whatever excursions we purchased!  We ended up making a wonderful friend through our favorite typist and request her each time.  She sightsees with us, dines with us, plays cards with us, she's one of the gang 🙂   We have not sailed on Carnival, so not sure their procedure.  I'm glad you loved the interpreter!  While I am only an intermediate signer, I do know interpreters that are truly a hoot!

I thought of that and have taken a garbage bag and written "Donation" already 🙂   I sure don't want them mailing the stuff back to me, lol

I have read on another thread (maybe for another cruise line) that there was a bin.  Didn't know if that was new for Celebrity or just how they did it.    I'll do what you do then!

Now - on the subject of donated clothes, is there a bin somewhere or should we leave them in our cabins when we disembark like in the past?

Thank you,  I won't leave anything on the ship then.   I did love that program in the past!

Before the pandemic, Celebrity had some kind of program to donate discarded clothing left on ships to ports they visited.   That stopped because of Covid.   When cruising started back up, they hadn't begun to do that again at our last Behind the Scenes ship tour.   Does anyone know if they've begun that program again?

I definitely hear ya!   99% of the time we sail midship but this was the only way we could take the FIL without actually sharing a cabin with 3 of us in it, and he has not been able to find someone to share a cabin next to us.  Soooooo, we're doing it <gulp>     We have stayed aft a few times and I honestly never felt motion back there.    Guess I'm just a nervous Nelly!  But the size of the cabin is like an apartment so hopefully that will make up for it.

That's good to hear.  I'm going through my "sea sick" bag right now and revamping it, just in case.   Just a little nervous about what we're doing!  lol.   We've been on 20 something cruises but never ever at the front of the ship like this.

Has anyone here stayed in this cabin?   Hubby and I are cruising and taking my father-in-law along this time.    Being on the VERY front of the ship, I'm wondering how much we will feel as far as movement.   I realize if the seas are rough, we will probably feel more.  Right?   Any input is appreciated!

Ha, actually did that on a recent NCL cruise.   Except I did have a dessert that awesome!!  It would take a long time before I got tired of it.  I know I won't get it again for a long time.

Excellent point!   We are having to make a decision of a forward or an aft (neither which we want) on a Celebrity for the dates we are free vs a better located cabin on another cruiseline for that timeframe.  First world problem, I know!   So now trying to compare other cruiselines we haven't been on.     Still love Celebrity the best!

We are looking at Holland Amsterdam and wondering if they are like Celebrity with escargot on the menu every night in the MDR.   My only chance to get escargot, so we usually stick with Celebrity but......willing to try out Holland if they do the same thing!    Anyone know if they do?

Insurance is gambling for those who are bad at math but Trust The Experts™.  Even as I get older, it still makes no sense to me.  Maybe if I traveled only once a year?  

What scares me is the emergency evacuation from the ship.  and then being in a foreign hospital that might not have the latest medical knowledge.   I know of one case where someone had to be airlifted to a nearby port and that cost alone was over $100,000.   Ya just never know.....

Trying to choose a travel insurance company that would be best for an almost 70 year old.   We'd like one we can keep using and would love to look into an annual insurance plan.    Anyone have suggestions of great plans and companies they have used?

Have others noticed the looooooong wait time when calling NCL?    I called them twice and both times, I waited over an hour before someone actually picked up to talk to me.  My TA called twice, the first time was 2 hour wait and then it was a 2.5 hour wait.   ON HOLD!    I'm not very impressed with NCL's customer service.   This is a new cruiseline to almost all of our group and I'm pretty sure it's gonna be the last time we sail on NCL.

Are we the only ones experiencing this?   Is it a fluke?

Oh, lucky you!   I hope ours comes soon 🙂  We are a group of late-deafened adults who really want to fly on the same flight and preferably sit together to help each other hear what is being said.      I do have a question:  what is a PCC?
