  1. Eurodam is first up the channel and soon we’ll get to see her pull up to the CT dock. The Koningsdam hasn’t entered the channel yet. She will go to the AS dock closer to the camera. We can watch two ships dock today (through the rain drops!)
  2. Eurodam and Koningsdam in Tracy Arm area and most likely in the process of transferring passengers to smaller vessels for a closer look at the magnificent scenery of the Tracy Arm excursion. Norwegian Sun is anchored in Juneau and tendering their passengers to shore on this rainy day. It reminds me of our last Alaska cruise on the Maasdam (before the Covid shut down) when we had to tender to shore on a blustery and rainy day. Maasdam was the smallest of the “major” cruise ships in Juneau that day. What a mess that was. Never expected to be tendering in Juneau.
  3. Didn’t expect that! I looked a few hours ago and couldn’t find it so I guess I’m not surprised it is running somewhat late. It’s just getting to the channel now.
  4. Actually, I have watched it for several years and always considered it Hoonah since that seemed to be where most cameras were located. The service seems to be out of Juneau. Looking at maps it is surprising how close these ports that we visit in Alaska are like Glacier Bay, Tracy Arm, Juneau, Sitka, Hoonah. I enjoy watching these two webcams as the seasons come and go!
  5. The dock closest to the camera is the AS (American Steamship) dock, behind that is the CT dock (Cruise Terminal), next and indented somewhat is the Franklin Dock (end of Franklin Street), and way out there is the AJ dock. Princess is most likely found at the Franklin Dock, Norwegian huge ships trade off morning and afternoon at the AJ dock. HAL will most likely have the CT or AS dock which are centrally located for cruisers wanting to walk around town. Too many ships and somebody will have to tender. The smaller ships have docking more fitted to their size in the same docking area. There is another webcam called theSnowcloud which is in Hoonah that gives a great aerial view of ships docked in Juneau.
  6. yes. In the past there has been a sign indicating Club Orange dining check in. You will have priority.
  7. Cloudy skies in Juneau. Majestic Princess is moving into the FKL dock. Noordam is next up the Channel in a few hours
  8. Crew smiles will return when the masks go away! The Mariner’s luncheons were a marketing opportunity for HAL as far as I’m concerned. We loved meeting mariners who had traveled to other regions. They often motivated me to sign up for another cruise! The time wasn’t convenient, the food choices were limited, but the conversations with the other mariners were priceless!
  9. I’ve only used the self service laundry machines on Seabourn and Azamara. The laundry room was very active on sea days as was the hallway with people coming and going waiting for a machine or dry laundry. I much prefer sending out a bag of dirty laundry for someone else to wash and fold and return to me. I didn’t enjoy doing laundry on a ship, I was on vacation! Some delicate items I can hand wash and dry on the clothesline above the tub or shower.
  10. I was surprised to see Norwegian ship at anchor. It will be a busy day in Juneau. I hope the weather improves.
  11. I hope this post dies soon. Do not respond, please!
  12. If the dining room was closed for breakfast, I hope CO was allowed to eat breakfast in the Pinnacle. After all, CO benefits include a sit down, served breakfast on ships that have a CO dining room. If you pay extra for CO you are entitled to the perks of CO or equivalent.
  13. A few years ago I had the same problem. I found out that he had been reassigned and was no longer a PCC.. Nobody took over that extension but it was still accepting messages (to a non-monitored line). Call the Mariner Society to find out if your PCC is still a PCC.
  14. We have rented a car in Skagway and driven over to Dyea and up the road to the Canadian border. So much depends on the weather and cars have to be rented well in advance. Haines is a quaint little town and has an interesting Hammer Museum. There’s not a lot to see there. The last time we were there we rented a car and drove up the road toward Haines Junction but turned around midway. In Haines it was easy to rent a car once we arrived. There is another post recently on this board that indicated that the ferry may not go from Skagway to Haines every day. It may be a financial issue. You may be able to find a private tour operator to show you around in Skagway or Haines.
  15. We considered doing it on our own a few years ago but the schedules were pretty inconsistent. I was concerned about our return trip back to Skagway. If you are on a ship tour you don’t have to worry. We saw Haines when our ship stopped there as part of an itinerary. I’m surprised that Princess isn’t offering the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve rafting but maybe it’s too early in the season. The American Bald Eagle Foundation is in town. Not sure about the Heritage Center (it may be out the road aways). There is a lot to do in Skagway but maybe you’ve seen it all on previous visits.
  16. @Copper10-8 When the Koningsdam pulled up to tthe dock in Juneau the dock master (Drew, I think) indicated where the bosun could “make your mark’ for the season. Do they actually make a mark on the dock or on a chart or ??? Beautiful May day in Juneau at my favorite AS dock.
