Considering booking our first river cruise to Paris and Normandy through Viking. We’ve been on 7 Royal cruises and have one booked on Celebrity. We don’t know much about river cruises and would welcome tips and recommendations. We definitely want to go to France. We’re in our late 50’s and pretty active. Should we be concerned about being bored while on the ship?

Sorry should have specified we’d be on Celebrity Summit.

We have always sailed on Royal but are looking for something different. We’d like to cruise out of San Juan with the route that includes Aruba. Looking for cabin and perks suggestions. We want a regular veranda cabin so looking for suggestions on cabins and best decks. Also which two perks do folks suggest? We’re thinking the drink package and tips. Any suggestions welcomed.

Okay, I was just glancing through itineraries. How is the Summit? Cabin suggestions? How is the entertainment?

I’ve always cruised on Royal but my husband and I are looking for a change. I’d welcome any hints, suggestions. We like Southern routes leaving out of San Juan. How is Celebrity Summit? One Southern route goes to Aruba and the other I believe goes to Curaçao. Thoughts?

I’m leaving on Monday so hopefully the elevators are fixed by then. They certainly shouldn’t be down on consecutive trips. Definitely skipping cafe promenade. Curtis too short for lines like that!

Thanks, we went on Navigator years ago which is a sister ship but couldn’t remember outdoor seating. Too bad we really enjoyed the seating on Jewel

Sailing on Monday, first time on Mariner. Does the Windjammer have outdoor seating? We loved the outdoor seating on Jewel.

They’re all on the Royal app if you have that downloaded. The menus will be listed under dining when it gets close to your cruise.

Has to have an umbrella in it. It's a tradition.

We’ve only been in a promenade cabin once although we have one booked in October. I would avoid deck 6, the noise could be a bigger factor there. We have deck 7 booked. The cabin is pretty much center of that deck so the view should be pretty good. Our last promenade cabin was also on 7 in a similar location. Even on deck 7 noise can be an issue during the parade. When I went the cabin was equipped with a white noise machine which helped a little. My husband can sleep through anything so it wasn’t really a problem for us.

I have the same issue. It doesn't show in my cruise planner under purchased items. I've emailed Royal to get this fixed.

I should know this but which port does Mariner sail from in Miami?

We’re planning to go to Melia when we’re there in a few weeks. It is not an all inclusive but the property looks amazing and the reviews are positive. It’s $51 per person from 9AM to 5PM includes use of all pools, beach, lingers, etc. they provide towels also.

I emailed the resort and they responded quickly. Cost is $51 per person and includes full use of pools, beach, non motorized sports and towels. No need to book ahead, just arrive early. Passes are from 9-5

Although I've been on a number of cruises, I've never had to use a tender before. We're going on Mariner in a few weeks and will need to tender at Coco Cay. How large are the tenders? What's the wait like to get off the ship? We have a glass bottom boat tour at 9 AM so we need to get off fairly early.

Ours on Mariner is still $45

Did you sign it when you set it up so it shows all of your info?
Just click on main dining room, any deck and it should allow you to see the menu for each night of your cruise. It does on mine.

I just learned about the app myself. I haven't cruised in about six years.

If you download the Royal Carribean App, then click on the ship icon, choose dining and you can see all the menus, main dining room and specialty restaurants.

Enjoying all the info, we sail on Mariner on 10/8/18.

We have a four night cruise on Mariner in October. We booked a hotel for one night prior to the cruise but recent reviews of this hotel haven’t been great. Any suggestions of hotels relatively near the cruise port?

Fortunately Viking has added new ships to their fleet that can dock in Paris. We booked on the new Viking Radgrid which sets sail this year.
