    Where/when did NCL say this?

I called the 1-800 number on the Celebrity's website, because we were looking of a cruse for Jan 2021.  I thought only vaccinated people could board the ship.   Then I call NCL and they said the same thing after November 2021 they will let both vaccinated and unvaccinated people on.   I guess there will be certain restrictions that "unvaccinated" people can do and not do......but I just stopped looking for the time being till I see how it all goes when ships are sailing again.

    I have an 11/2021 and a 2/2022 booked.

I read feedback from passengers who have sailed...and based on what they've said, I'm not too sure if I want to sail until Covid is a thing of the past.  One thing, masks required in ports....nope, not for me.

Yesterday I had "a scratchy throat" so I immediatly had a (negative) covid test.  As a rule, I am not a germophobe or a hypochondriac.  But, this uncertaintly of what's gonna happen or what the rules will be at the time of the cruise.....is cruising worth the worry?  Truth be told....I don't even look at cruising as the fun it used to be.  Based on the price increase it's not "the almost giveaway" vacation anymore.

    Hi Ms TabbyKats,

I agree with you....we were looking at a Jan/2022 cruise, I don't feel comfortable yet getting on a ship with unvaccinated people.  Both NCL & Celebrity said that as of November 2021 they will have both "vaccinated & unvaccinated" people on board.   Will see how that all works out for them.  Now Carnival said that only vaccinated people will be on board their ships till October 31, 2021 after that date, they will do what CDC says.

    Are you sure about that?

Is it possible that they said that they don't yet have the restrictions and regulations for Nov 2021 and beyond, rather that they've decided that there's going to be NO regulations at all?

That would be an extreme about-face if you're correct.  Did they point you to any policy document that said that?

Yes, that is what I was told by both Norwegian and Celebrity customer service, I called the 1-800 number.   I did call Carnival as well and asked the same question about only vaccinated people on the cruise and customer services said "only vaccinated people on our cruises till Oct 31, 2021 - after that they go by what the CDC says.

Because sailing at 100% vacinated is safer (you can argue how much safer it is, but it's indisputably safer than the alternative) and passenger health matters.

100% means less chance of an outbreak; it means a better passenger experience.

    Hello,

I agree with this topic that everyone or at least 95% of people should be vaccinated.   I am vaccinated and was looking at a cruise in Jan or Feb of 2022.   I called Norwegian & Celebrity yesterday and both said that effective November of 2021 {leaving out of USA} - there are no more restrictions for vaccine and or unvaccinated people......so anyone can get on the ship.   So much for the safety of passengers.   If the cruise line have restrictions that unvaccinated people can not go here or there???  how will the cruise lines enforce that??  that is my question.   I have decided to wait as see what will happen, before booking a cruise.

  5. Here is my million dollar question........I had my first vaccine last Sunday 3/7  my second vaccine is due March 28 - now from what I am reading on the CDC they do not know how long the vaccine is good for, they are saying 90 Days.    Now hopefully this will be not true as time goes on but if it is true this would get me only till the 2nd week in July.   Then what ????   If you want to travel on a cruise do we all need to be re vaccinated again!!   I cant see this happening for the whole world to get boosters again that would just be crazy.

    Any other thoughts??

When I first started cruising (April 2001), the idea was to see some sunny places and then go back for an AI vacation.  Every time I priced them, though, the cruise was cheaper (I typically book inside cabins).

Plus, my main reason for cruising, still, after 20 years and about 40 cruises, is to see the different ports. If I were to do an AI, I'd still want to get out there and see things.  For me, that's what travel (especially to foreign places) is all about.  So, that would jack up the price of a land vacation, too.

I'm also a little leery about tainted alcohol in Mexico.

But, if the inability to cruise continues for much longer (I have 9 sailings booked between April 2021 and May 2023 on MSC, Carnival, HAL, X & NCL), once I have been vaccinated, I might consider an AI just so I can go somewhere!  Anywhere warm and sunny (other than my patio in the summer).

    Thanks for posting your thoughts.

I have the same feelings recently on the safety of the "Alcohol" in Mexico & Punta Cana.  I have been to Punta Cana at least 5 times but never to Mexico.  The scare of the "tainted alcohol" has me now not going to an Al.    I will not go there again for that reason....I don't like to worry about getting any "tainted alcohol" in another country and getting sick.   That is not saying all counties have that problem, you have to do your research on the island that you are going to.

For me I have been on 7 - 8 cruises and I personally feel much safer, but that is me.  I feel that the food and drink is safe and I feel very safe on the ship.  I can't wait to get cruising again....it's been a long year with no cruising, hopefully within this 2021 year sometime.

Oct 2020 cruise canceled....I opted for the FCC and $600 obc.  At the time, I was told that I had to rebook by 12/31/20.  I rebooked for 9/2021.

Hello, I am in the same boat.  Our cruise was cancelled in Aug 2019 - we now have to book by 12/19 for a cruise in 2021 or 2022, we are going to book something in 2022.   Problem is once you book and then the deposit is due 90 days out......if cruises are modified say mask wearing, shore excursions are supervised etc, I would not want to go and would want to cancel.   I did call Carnival  yesterday and the customer service was helpful as they do not have a crystal ball either, but there is no insurance that will let you cancel for no reason.   You need to have a Dr note saying that you are sick not able to go to cancel - this doesn't work if you have 4 people going.    So all this unknown is stopping us from booking a new cruise as we are debating what to do for the 2020 cruise......really hate to lose the $600 OBC.  Hopefully after the elections things will settle down and maybe there will be medication out to help with all this mess.

  8. I feel there will be no cruising from the United States till there is a vaccine & medication  for covid.   We here in NYS can't even go to a restaurant to eat and drink inside without a mask and when we do - they are only limited to how many people can go in and no bars open like before covid - all monitored to where you can sit etc......and if you travel outside of NY and you work you must quarantine for 14 days when you get back from another state.     How can a cruise line open up and be like it used to be with quest walking freely around and eating and drinking, music and shows?   I hope they figure it out, as I have a big credit for Carnival to use by 2022.

    Was this quarantine ever enforced?

Anyone traveling from NYS - needs to quarantine for the 14 days upon return from a RED state.   This is a problem when you work for an employer, because they need to track you - which I hate.   I would need to use 80 hrs of sick time or work from home if I left NYS for a vacation to a state that is under the RED list.

I need to re-book a cruise by the end of December 2020.......I don't see anything leaving New York or New Jersey as of yet for 2022.

There is zero chance I would cruise if masks were required.

    Zero!

I agree.....I would not cruise if you have to worry about "social distancing and wearing  a mask"  that would not be a vacation for me - it would be more aggravation for the money paid.   I will wait till this virus is sorted out and we can cruise normally again.  Hopefully that is sooner than later.

  11. I have family in TX and TX is currently a "red state" on the map.   I am still working and employed.  With employers having control over your travel plans now in the US......I hope this is true.   I want to travel to TX to see family, but will have to quarantine for 14 days and this is just one trip!

How are others still working handling travel within the US?  Now with the holiday's coming up traveling and seeing family is so stressful not knowing.

I did have my 2020 Carnival Cruise cancelled and I did get a $600 OBC....which is great.   I have to re-book a cruise by the end of 2020 and can book out to 2022 (which is what we are going to do - hopefully things are all straightened out by then).

  12. I believe there will be "No Cruises" till there is medication for the virus and/or a vaccine.   I don't know how they can control a ship load of 2000-5000 people.  Anyone suffering from a fever or flu-like symptoms prior to embarkation at check in will not be able to board - I get this.  But what happens if people are fine boarding but actually come down with this virus a few days into the cruise and no one but the person/family know.   How would that even be monitored????  Crazy at it seems, it will happen.

Sounds like a good idea, but it's not gonna happen.  People get sick "the week of"....not a month before.

Cruiselines are in a Catch-22.  Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

Anyway...all of these suggestions are just band-aides. The more I think about it, the less I would want to cruise until a vaccine is available.  Too many people are self-centered.

MsTabbyKats, you are correct.   Even (((  if  ))) a cruise ship had 100% full of health people headed out to sea.....and then visited the islands here and there, whats stopping someone from picking up something on one of the islands and bringing it back on the ship how would anyone "police" that.   It's just too crazy to think that anyone is safe traveling on a cruise ship within this year or possibly next year.   Now I do know that people are going to travel when they can no matter what - I trust no one, and I have to travel on a plane to visit family myself......I think the only thing that will make me feel safe is when we actually have medication to treat this virus - a vaccine would be better if it worked and that is at least a year off.   I do have a cruise that was cancelled and pushed out till 2022 if I want to re-book.   Hopefully there will be treatment for the virus by then or I will not be going with a shipload of 3000-4000 people.

We'll cruise again but it may be a while. Our September cruise on the Legend was canceled last week. We don't want to be stuck on a ship to no where. I'll try some land vacations for the next two years and see how that goes.

This is how I feel, right now I am not in the mood to even think about travel in the future.......   But I do think it will be at least 2 year for me to cruise again, I will be looking into a land vacation that I can control my coming and goings in the future.   I did have a cruise booked that was cancelled for July of 2020 - I have chosen to keep my down payment and use/rebook within two years.  I will re-evaluate the situation then, hopefully everything will be back to normal by then.

  15. I am booked on the Radiance out of NYC in July 2020 - we all know that is not going to happen..........I only put down a down payment.  My final payment is due on April 21.   At this point I do not care if I get more OBC credit or this or that - I do not feel safe booking another cruise out at this point in time.   I am waiting for things to calm down - I want to feel good about booking a vacation.   In a year from now maybe.

I can not see the port in NYC up and running anytime soon !!   Just my thought.

  16. I have a July 9 day book on the Radiance, we are supposed to make the last payment on April 21.   I don't think that is going to happen.

  17. How can anyone go on a cruise vacation and have a good time only to worry so much about getting sick that you have to wear a mask and gloves.......really?      I would cancel and stay home!!

Book another cruise months out when all of this settles down.

  18. For me I have sailed Carnival, Royal, Norwegian enjoyed all the ships I sailed on.......for me I like the ships that have the biggest Adult Only sections.  I think that any ship is fine, it's when the ship is SOLD OUT and PACKED is when the trouble starts, too many people, towel hogs, pools and hot tubs packed, lines, lines etc......   Then  again I have traveled in July & August and lots of kids, which is my time that I can go, so I can't complain out that.   Don't get me wrong, I do like kids I  have two adult children myself, but now in my stage of life gravitate more to adult only sections.  I really think as others have stated the larger cruise ships have more sleeping rooms and not enough open space for guest.   Just my open.

  19. I have been on two Royal Ships out of NYC and NJ in August 2017, 2018 (they say prime time) and both times the ship was fully booked !...............No Drink Cards offered either time.   I think if Royal needs to make more money they will push the drink cards.

    Just my thought.

  20. I'll ask because I was just searching regarding a special situation. I purchased at $49 (cheapest since I booked, I check daily). However, I used OBC as part of my payment. I thought I read in another thread that if I cancel and try to book at a lower price, I won't get the OBC returned. Is that correct? Seems like a terrible business practice if so.....

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I booked with our OBC on Royal and yes you will get your OBC back if you cancel.   I called and asked this question twice.....just to make sure.   We are going on Adventure of the Seas and the cheapest I am seeing is $49 pp.
