  1. we are sailing Symphony on a 4 day cruise in 2019, due to such a short cruise I am debating rather or not I need to purchase royal caribbeans cruise insurance or purchase travel insurance through 3rd party or just for go it since it is short cruise. Does anyone else buy travel insurance through royal or do you just travel with out it? Please give me your thoughts....

Hello....I never travel without Travel Insurance, I buy the extra insuance with the cruise line. I just came off the Anthem of the Seas this past August 2018. There was 4 Medical Evac's on the ship that I know of. We watched one person being taken off the ship by a medical helicopter - rumor had it that medical helicopter ride was $36,000 !! Hope they had the extra travel insurance.

  2. Hi all thanks for the info so far.

I guess I was just looking for an over all feel. Glad to know about the no smoking in the casinos.

    Here are some more I thought of ;

    How does formal night work?

    Does everyone have to participate?

Also how is the timed dining and sitting with random people?

Does the ship have popcorn for the movie on the deck? No Popcorn on the movie Deck.

Are there any special themes for the buffet?

What about the drink packages? Do they ever have free offers like NCL?

I am "Platinum Level" we did not buy the drink package -drinks are very expensive, but way less than the drink pkg. Mix drinks are around $13-$15 includes gratuity.

We just got off the Anthem in August.

  3. Hello

I just came off the 9 day Anthem cruise this August......we did not buy the drink package before, so I checked it out on the ship the 2nd day. The price was the same, as it was the last week before the cruise. What I was told is: Anthem met their quota, so NO deals on the drink package what so ever once on the ship. What they could do was if I bought the drink package, my friend in the same room did not need to buy the drink pkg, but must buy the Soda & Coffee pkg (no one drinks soda in our group). So we figured it out it came to a little over $800 for 2 people in a room which is $400 per person. So we decide not to take it. I came home with a $200 bar bill, so I would not have used it anyway.

There were NO 10 Drink Cards offered or NO Happy Hours offered on this 9 day sailing either. Which I was disappointed in finding.......I asked and again was told that when the ship meets the Drink Packages quota that needs to be sold - there are no deals to be had on board!

  4. Hello,

My friends and I were on the same ship (Anthem).....with the medical emergency's - I actually heard it was 5 people that were medically evacuated from the ship during the Aug 9 - Aug 18 cruise. Just proves the value of "Trip Insurance"! I know we saw the ambulance pulling into the ship first thing in the morning when we pulled into Bermuda.

  5. Hello,

Has anyone used their "crown & anchor coupons" that are pre-loaded on their Sea Pass?

Seems to me it would be easier to get a print out to see what you actually have, but I have read RC does not leave a coupon booklet in your room the first day. Guess you have to go to Guest Services to get a print out?

I am a gold member, but will be moving to Platinum with my coming cruise;)

They made it sound exactly as you found it. As available, no guarantee. If you were misled, it wasn't by Royal. This took me 30 seconds to find.

You have to do your homework. How much more specific can they get?

I agree, you have to do your homework........I would never travel with an infant, I would much rather do a land vacation. Cruises are a lot of walking within the crowds of people going here and there - land vacations you can be on your own.

  7. Looking to book a Canada/New England For next fall (Southbound 11 day Quebec City to New York) and currently looking at the 50% off second person deal.

Is this a good one? I am looking to snag a panoramic ocean view for my elderly mother since we can be inside and still get a good view from our room so I don’t want to wait too long, however wondering if this is one of the best promos or not (there are 30 hours left in the sale hence my question)

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

We just booked with the 50% off the second person....there is no deal. The wording sounds good, but when you actually go to book the cruise the pricing is normal as with any other site that is not running the 50% off. But this is the timeframe/cruise that we can go, so we booked it.

  8. Good morning,

I never thought I'd debate in my head so much the pros and cons of purchasing a drink package.

Anyway....I am going to call RC for the Delux and Refreshment for me and the hubs, as suggested on here. However, I have a 6 and 9 year old who will drink water, juice and (9 year old) occassional soda. Do you suggest packages for them or can I get away with just the two packages for us? When ordering, will they allow me to purchase drinks for our kids with my husband and my cards or will they charge for the kids as well? We can give them our soda cups when we get them as neither my husband nor I really drink soda.

    Thanks!

    Hi Kellmnn,

Why pay extra money, there is plenty of "free" water, juice etc.....at the windjammer and other places. Just fill up your cup. Free water is at designated places through out the ship as well. I never pay extra money for any of this stuff.

But if you must have a certain type of drink, then that is a different story.

  9. I have read, that you just have to ask at any bar on the ship during your cruise....the bartenders will tell you if the card is offered or not and you can buy it right there at the bar. This is what I am planning to do on the Anthem in August 9 day cruise.

  10. Hello,

How about seeing the drink card offered on the Anthem of the Seas? We will be on the ship this August. You would think the drink card would be offered through out all days on the ship - RC wants to make money. Bars are supposed to have this cards offered, I would ask there.

  11. Hello,

I am taking a 9 day cruise this summer on Anthem/Royal Caribbean. I called RC, they did say that I can buy the "drink pkg" on the last 4 days of my cruise.

Now I have priced the drink pkg for the 9 day/2 person in room cruise and it comes out to $1019 that is Crazy!!

RC said that there is no pricing out for that 4 day pkg until you get on the ship and go to guest services. Has anyone done this? how was the pricing on that?

    Thanks,

    L~NY

  12. I will be on the Anthem in August 2018 with a few girlfriends - Does the Anthem have any "Happy Hours - buy 1 get 1 or buy 1 half off drink 2" in the late afternoon before dinner?

I have read where other cruise ship do - but I am not seeing anything on the forums that talk about it while on the Anthem.

Just wondering if anyone has had the experience with a 9 day cruise and Happy Hours.........not paying for the Drink Package as we do not drink that much per day and the price for the drink package for a 9 day is insane!!

    LS/from NY

  13. When we booked with Yankee Trails - there was free this or free that........the cruise planner said that "you actually pay for the free stuff" one way or the other. And she is right, prices are higher for this or that to make up for the FREE stuff you think you are getting. Just pay the price that you are happy with and book. Kids Free? - nothing is free, price is higher somewhere.

  14. I travel in the summer with a few girls....we never save chairs on the deck as we like to move around the ship throughout the day. If we can not find a chair, I wait at the pool bar and then just move the towels. No one has ever said anything to me......I might get a look. But hay no one "owns that spot". Really how can anyone reserve chairs (((all day))) crazy to think they even can.
