Yep, on our November cruise it was a charge. Not only that, they stopped selling it when the movie was "almost over." But apparently "almost over" meant with an hour left to go! And it was Top Gun Maverick, the deck was packed!

On our last cruise (Valor last November) but they wouldn't sell (or pop any popcorn) until after the movie started.  It was 5 minutes before the movie started, and they wouldn't pop/sell any.   The bar staff acted like it was a big inconvenience to make/sell any popcorn.

Is there a reason not to wait until you're actually on board to purchase these AARP gift cards if you have the wifi package or will there be a delay in receiving them?

I believe they sometimes sell out.

Also depending on what else you have recently charged to your credit card, it could raise a red flag with your credit card company (multiple purchase in different states because you are traveling)  and your credit card could be locked until you can call and confirm the charges (hard to do while at sea) and could cause some problems if you also used that credit card for your sail and sign account.

  3. My PVP quit during Covid and never sent a message saying they quit or anything.  Tried emailing him because of an issue with a booking, but never got a response.

Never heard from any other PVP saying  they were taking over his clients.

  4. We sailed out of Mobile on one of the fantasy class ships (Elation maybe?) in January once.

Anyway, it was very cold on embarkation day (temperatures in the 40's I believe.  And on the fantasy class ships, there is no heat!  It was freezing the first day.  We drove in from up north where it was even colder, so we had our coats with us.   Other people I saw (and heard) only packed shorts, for the entire trip and were freezing, miserable, and mad (at themselves for not packing pants).

By day 2 it was much warmer, but still a little cool for a Caribbean vacation.
By the time we got to Mexico it was 75-80 degrees and nice.  Alot of people were swimming in the ocean, but it was to cold for me.

Moral of the story, look at the weather forecast for New Orleans a few days before you leave and you should know what kind of temperatures to expect.

We are Diamond and booked on the Celebration TA.  Our 16-day window opened up at midnight.  We weren't able to login until 12:03.  Once in, we immediately went to select our arrival time, and the earliest available boarding group was C1.  It is hard to believe that all of the A and B groups were snatched up by other D & P & suite cruisers in only 3-minutes.

Just curious, what port arrival time did you select?  Or was able to select?

I'm guessing the C boarding group has a port check in time of 11:30 or 12?

  6. I have a soft sided cooler on wheels with a handle that I tried to use once.  The security guard wouldn't allow it since it was bigger then the 12" x 12" cooler carnival allows to be brought on board.  I tried to argue it was a suitcase since it had wheels and a handle, but they wouldn't allow it.

Luckily we were parked at the port, so I took it back to my car and put the cans in a backpack I had also brought along.

  7. Use cash first, then add the prepaid card as a backup.

You can also purchase carnival gift cards online and at most supermarket type stores that sell gift cards.

The first or second day on board you can go to guests services and add the cash or carnival gift cards to your onboard account.

What I see happening on my credit card is everyday there is a hold placed for what my S&S account is.  So by the end of the cruise the holds are 2 or 3 times what my actual bill is at the end.  You would need a prepaid card with the 2 or 3x on it to cover all the holds.  This is why debit cards are not recommend, as there is alot of holds being placed that eventually get released, but not until several days after the cruise.  It would be very easy for all the holds to eat up the balance on the prepaid card, then at the end of the cruise there isn't enough available balance on the card not used during the holds to finalize the charge.  Now the person is stuck with a bill they cannot pay until all the holds drop off 3-7 days later.
