  1. Well, the Unlimited package is now at $199 instead of $299. This could be a short-term offer or market test, which would make purchasing now reasonable.

It was $199 on Summit in August too. 7 day Bermuda. With 25% discount due to being Emerald with RCI it was $149. It was slow, but way better than nothing.

  2. We were just on the Summit with an Aqua qty and were assigned a cabin on the 9th deck. We LOVED the huge balcony overhang.

Looking at the Silhouette and know that it is an S class as opposed to an M class. Any extra-shady aqua cabins on it? Or over-exposed ones? We are trying to decide whether to do gty again or if we need to pick our cabin.

  3. Just bring your bottle to the restaurant and give it to the sommelier...didn't take any explaining...Elvis was enthusiastic and supportive (yes, that the name of the very cheery sommelier in Blu on the Summit).

    I remember Elvis! "Cheers!"

He always greeted us even though we never ordered wine and graciously removed the wine glasses. Summit's Blu had the BEST staff and we thought the food was excellent! We are total converts to Celebrity Aqua. My husband - who thought the idea of Blu serving "clean" food was appalling - was converted to it by the third night. The bottled water, large overhang and reclining balcony chairs were also nice. The rest we just don't care about. Being select from our time on RCL was also very much appreciated.

  4. It was $199 for unlimited on our Bermuda cruise last week. Good deal, used it alot. Only one device at a time. Obviously slower during peak usage times, but early mornings and late nights and on the ship during port days went quicker. Kids loved it and kept me connected with home/work. (not too much work :) )

Same here on the Summit recently. $199 with 25% discount for being Select (perk from being emerald on RCI) so $149. One device. Slow, but worked in the cabin. To use the ilounge the sign-in is the same so I don't know how they could restrict anyone to just using the lounge.

  5. I can't help much with the pool band question - I think is was mostly DJs but don't quote me on that. I do know that the music and volume throughout the ship did not annoy me, which is unusual.

As for the shows - that I can answer. We went to most of them. The singers (6!) we all good and they, and the dancers could actually dance. A step up from our previous cruises. The shows were also of normal length, not the shortened length that both RCI and Princess are doing. The comedians (2) were Ok. Nothing special. The airealists (sp?) and acrobats were AMAZING. The acapella group was very good. All in all, better than usual. Also not geared to the much older crowd.

  6. Make sure you check out the Blu menus. We thought about it before our first and second X cruises. After looking at the menus each night onboard I was very happy that we didn't. They didn't not impress me. We have friends that swear by it but they are very simple eaters and place a larger value on having the smaller dining room.

I admit I was often not impressed with the menus either but Simeon and Oxana's (our usual waiters) recomendations were always correct and the food was delicious. We loved the small dining room and usually sat by a window. We had some wonderful evenings of conversation with other cruisers as the tables are close. Can't say enough good things about Blu.

  7. We went aqua on our first Celebrity cruise and absolutely loved it. I eat fairly "clean" but my husband certainly does not and he had concerns about the food in Blu. Not to worry. He LOVED the food and so did I. I don't think the portions were smaller but the food was fresher/hotter/colder/tastier than any food on any of our previous cruises. We can't wait to do another Celebrity cruise - aqua, of course.

As for the cabins. We did aqua gty and were assigned abin 9075 (Summit). Quiet, huge overhang. I love that overhang but some may not. Balcony on the small side but reclining chairs so I was able to make it work easily.

Would we do gty again? Maybe. Depends of the cost. If I could pick my cabin for just a little more I would pick it. Big difference in cost I would take the chance and do gty.

  8. Thanks for the update. We sail in 2 weeks.

    How was your cruise?

It was REALLY good. We sailed Aqua and are now forever spoiled. The Summit had almost everything we look for in a cruise and more. Great food, great service from really friendly staff, a funny and visible captain, great lattes, good to great shows, etc... The only thing I would like to see would be a self-serve laundry which would make packing easier and lighter!

  9. Perhaps.

I believe that there will be an extensive handover with both captains on board for about three weeks.

If her assignment lasts from September to November captain Leo will be back December through January ... Just speculating.

Just off the Summit: Captain Leo confirmed that Captain Kate will be on board with him for 3 weeks and he will be leaving mid-September and returning mid-December.

  11. The 123Go offers pre-paid grats OR classic beverage package OR OBC. For those of us who drink mostly water and have a coffee and a "drink" per day the beverage package just doesn't make any sense. We get pre-paid grats from the TA and booked a veranda cabin so we took the $200 OBC. That more than covers ANY and all drinks we may get for the week.

  12. If I book a cruise with the drink package included as well as OBC and prepaid gratuities included, do I have an option for more OBC INSTEAD of the drink package? We will never drink enough for the package, since we have the Elite benefits in the evening.

    Yes.

We booked with an online TA who gives free pre-paid grats and took the OBC instead of the bev package and then more OBC from the TA.

  13. Even when using a TA, I still like to keep track of everything myself, to the extent that I am able to do so, considering that all the payment information disappears from my Celebrity account as soon as I give the booking to a TA.

There have been too many cases where TAs made mistakes.

While we are all human and we all make mistakes, at least when I make a payment myself, I can immediately see whether or not it is applied correctly.

If I should makes a typo, or the payment is applied incorrectly, I can see it and take steps to correct it.

Unfortunately, I can't see where the payment is going or what is happening when I am trusting a TA to make the payment for me.

So I just need to take it on faith until I receive my copy of the updated Celebrity invoice and have the chance to look it over to see that the payment really was applied to the correct reservation, the final balance has been updated correctly, and that all my perks are there.

I would not bother to use a TA who does not provide any perks or OBC, unless the TA is providing a substantially discounted price on the cruise that I cannot get otherwise.

We just check our credit card online to see what has been put through and to who. We actually have alerts that notify us of charges over a certain amount ever since a identity theft issue.

We use an online TA and always get free pre-paid grats on RCI and Celebrity. Love that. That is listed on the emailed invoice but often not credited by the cruiseline until the last minute - but never had a problem.

  14. I booked a Guarantee Inside Cabin on an Alaskan cruise in May. I booked it in January and with in two weeks I had a cabin assignment on the 7th Deck.

How were you notified? Had you used a TA?

We just booked an aqua gty for August on Summit through an internet TA. Will they be the ones to let us know our cabin assignment or will Celebrity?
