  1. I cruise solo most of the time and I love it I also find that going to the buffet early is best and as others have suggested, leave a book or a glasses case (nothing valuable though) on a table. If you want to meet people, activities such as trivia or dance classes are great. But, you may surprise yourself with trivia. I have won quite a few flying solo- mainly because you don't have to compromise with others insisting on their (wrong) answers ! 😁

  2. Yes, we had to test - either a PCR or an unsupervised RAT. Honestly, I have been a little disappointed with the health protocols on here. I expected more from them. The staff wear masks all the time and the sanitizing is very evident but as usual, it's the passengers letting the side down. There is no enforcement of mask wearing 'when social distancing is not possible' and most people still seem to not care. In Black Circus, you must wear a mask  to enter as the seating is very close...then everyone takes them off when they sit down. People coughing and making no attempt to cover it. I just had to get some tongs replaced in The Pantry after seeing some grazing and finger licking.

I'm sure it won't be long until the inevitable happens 😞

Wonder if cruises will require evidence of  booster vaccinations?

By the time, if ever we can leave and cruise, boosters will be required, and what will be available for people over 60?

This is my worry. By the time things supposedly start to reopen in November, many of us over 60 AZ double vaccinated people will need boosters as it will be 4-6 months since our last shot. Other countries are preparing to roll out shot 3 and Australia doesn't have a firm booster plan as yet.

  4. I feel terrible about this and the time elapsed. It's a long shot but I hope I can still reunite this camera & the photos of a wonderful cruise.

Costa Luminosa was in Sydney on 6 November 2015 as part of a World Cruise. I found a small camera at Circular Quay (right near where the ships dock) that afternoon. I recall I had a quick look through the photos and was able to identify some info that would assist in having the camera returned to its owner. I took the camera to the terminal and spoke to security and they refused to take the camera (along with a note I had written with some details) onboard the ship as it was a security risk. Unfortunately, there was no ship staff around that I could discuss it with. I was going on a cruise myself the next day so I had to wait until I returned home to follow up, I called Carnival - not interested. I messaged Costa via FB - also said nothing they could do. So, I put the camera in a drawer and promptly forgot about it until I found it this week during a declutter session.

I can see from the photos that the couple embarked in Genoa on 14 September 2015 and that they are most likely German (a photo shows their laptop screen and files in German). Does anybody recognise them?

  5. I'm having the same issue. Booked a Feb 2022 cruise 2 days ago and paid the deposit upfront and it does not show under my upcoming cruises nor can I add it manually. I called them and they said there was a 'glitch' currently (what's new?)

Funnily enough, this morning I received an email telling me it's time to checkin for this cruise..... a year in advance. They are definitely having some IT issues!

Are you Elite and logged in to your Princess account?

That may be why you aren't seeing cabins. Today is Elite bookings only so you have to be logged in so Princess recognises your status.

Yes I'm Elite and I had a booking. I spoke to Princess and she couldn't access any stateroom numbers either - but, at  least I've been able to change my booking now to a guarantee in the category I originally wanted (Deluxe Balcony)

  7. Hi

I am in Tokyo now and join Norwegian Jewel in Yokohama tomorrow.

I am staying at the JR Hotel Kyushu BLOSSOM Shinjuku and highly recommend it. It's right near Shinjuku station, it's quite new , the room is very comfortable ( smallish but thats OK) and super clean and the breakfast buffet has both Western and Japanese options.

I used Green Tomato shuttle from Narita...It was a long trip as I was last drop off but it was convenient. They also offer transfers to Yokohama port but only had one departure time 1pm which was later than I wanted to leave but would get you there for 3pm

I will be taking the train to Yokohama station (one line goes direct from Shinjuku) and will either take a taxi from there to the port or if I can manage to wrangle my luggage, I may change to another train to Nihon-Odori which is close to the pier.

  8. hi all,

I will be staying at the Hotel Maya - I know the Long Beach shuttle service goes past the hotel but does it actually pull into the hotel as a stop. I want to use it to get to/from the Queen Mary and downtown.

Also, I will be departing LAX on an international flight at 1030pm on a Friday night. I have booked a private transfer and am not sure what time I should arrange for the pickup - is 4pm too early?

    thanks
