We are Brits and I know transfer companies say their drivers will wait 2 hours after an international flight lands for passengers to arrive.  We have been known to spend 2 hours in Security in the past so my question is - does anyone have any experience of booking a transfer at Miami and then being charged extra for failing to meet their driver before the 2 hour timeline has elapsed?  I have looked in Florida Departures but can't see anything that addresses this question directly, so thanks for any help.

We always use Larrys Limos . After the hassle of immigration it's lovely to have someone standing with your name on a placard and no hassle queuing for a taxi. You can book on their website or just email them. They take your flight number and are fully aware that you will have a wait in immigration so I doubt they arrive at your exact arrival time. You can always tell them you want your booking to start from say an hour after you land if it helps.  We have been delayed up to two hours and never been charged extra. You will be given a quote for the fare including a tip and although it might cost a little more than a shuttle, who wants to drive around to other hotels when all you want is to get to yours and start your holiday!  We're off in just under two weeks and can't wait !

    Thought it was me!

Am ok on here in the morning (UK time) until mid afternoon, but after that it is almost impossible to get on to the threads. It takes an age for CC to load, then another lonnnnnggg wait before I can get on to Celebrity area. Then the threads do not open. Have tried it on 2 web browsers and no success - yet it opens on the phone.

    Help

Exactly the same here ( also in UK ). I even rebooted my iPad and checked my internet speed last night before I eventually gave up. As it's lunchtime here now it works fine. Let's see what it's like tonight.

  3. Firstly you must make sure you log out properly each time otherwise all your minutes will be gone ! ( there are instructions on your welcome letter in your cabin ). I would avoid trying to go online at peak times i.e. Sea days in particular as it can take time to load pages. Usually I find early mornings or afternoons when many are off the ship are the best. Obviously trying to download anything will take time so I usually just stick to checking emails and browsing a little. At the start of each log in you will be able to see how many minutes you have left.

That’s why we always book a hotel room for two nights before we cruise and for the night we get back in, too much of a risk for us.

Yes , we do exactly the same !  I hope this isn't going to be the norm at Fort Lauderdale. We've been there many times and never had much of a wait. After the horrors of immigration arriving at Miami airport, I don't think we could stand this at the end of the holiday!

We have always tried to do 14 day Caribbean cruises to justify the transatlantic air fare from the UK. We've done B2B with Celebrity and consider the days returning to Florida midpoint time wasted - no sooner have you got to the Caribbean then you're turning back again!! Celebrity's decision to only offer shorter cruises will have their regular passengers looking elsewhere.

Totally agree with you. We always did 14 nighters and now have a couple of 10 nighters booked with extra days in a hotel at the end but it's not what we really want.  I looked at the only 14 night Silhouette cruise in Jan 2020 and it's the only cruise in that month on the UK site without a drinks package included!

Thanks for the answers to Coco Cay question - very bummed about that. Maybe there's still an older RC ship class (without malls, surfing,, slides, etc) that sails there. I really wanted to book a Celebrity cruise in 2021, but not seeing a THING that's appealing.

I regretfully had to scratch off all Edge class ships the second I discovered there were no balconies in non-suite classes - just big windows. :classic_sad:

No balconies?  I haven't taken too much notice of the Edge yet as the prices are ridiculous but if that's the case then it will definitely be off my wish list.

I'm unaware of any UK based programs doing this.

Are you on Facebook? Maybe ask on there? They occasionally respond to customers questions on the Celebrity UK Facebook page.

I have posted on Facebook so will update if I get an answer. I know we don't get price drops etc supposedly because we have different consumer laws but I cannot see any reason why we can't have this offer as it means we are paying more money to Celebrity!

  8. Never seen fever tree tonic. They usually bring it ready mixed and I suspect it's the stuff that comes out of those push button things you see in UK pubs. We have sometimes asked for low calorie tonic and been given Canada Dry in a small bottle. Also I have never seen any flavoured gins.

So we experienced something similar and helpful cruise critic members directed us to call Captain's Club.  Over the phone they were able to book me into a broader range of restaurants/time availability, so I recommend giving it a try.

Is it possible to make all our reservations for our pre purchased dining package by calling Captains Club ? If so can anyone give me the UK telephone number please. We usually buy a package pre cruise and book onboard but I'm a bit bothered by the comments that time slots are deliberately being held back.

  10. Hi

DH will be celebrating his retirement/birthday next year whilst on Equinox. He thinks he would like to purchase Tag Huer any thoughts on prices and selection.

They don't have a very big selection. My husband was looking for a particular model Tag and the price from a reliable internet site was cheaper than onboard. The £/$ exchange rate doesn't help much either.

  11. On Board Service Charge is how it is phrased on my confirmation invoice from Celebrity Cruises U.K.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Yes I have seen that too but then on the Celebrity UK website they are called gratuities and tips and they even include a list of who supposedly gets what share of the gratuities.

  12. Apologies if this has already been asked....did look in the search area first!

We are going on the Silhouette at the beginning of October. What is the position with hair straighteners onboard? I did read somewhere else that they were not allowed to be used?

I took mine when we went on the Eclipse last year and they didn't work properly.

    Thanks

I have used my GHD straighteners on lots of cruises. They are recommended for worldwide use. Some of the UK brands don't work with the different voltage in the US.

  13. I don't know where people get their "facts".

"going down to guest services the last night to get tips removed?"

I thought I had seen it somewhere onboard that there was a deadline for removal of gratuities after the first few days ? Personally I would never do this but I agree with others that it would be better if it was an included 'service charge'. The words 'gratuity' and 'tip' are defined as extra rewards generally for good service so how can you reward someone for something that they haven't yet done by prepayment of gratuities ? Far better IMO to have everyone pay a service charge or better still just an inclusive price and leave extra tips for good service.
