We have another hotel booked with parking included. I was just checking out all options because we have new cruisers with us this time around.

We want to stay downtown so we have a view of the port, but the parking I've found for the hotels there start at $35 per day. And it's valet only from what I understand.

Just curious if anyone has ever parked at the port the night before a cruise then just took a cab back to a hotel?

Speaking from personal experience I would go with Hampton Inn, Blue Lagoon. We stayed there two years ago and my mom and I felt very safe walking around the area. There's a shopping center with a few restaurants across the street too, so once you park your car in the secure lot you can run over there to get all those last minute item we always seem to forget. :D In order to reach the parking building behind the hotel you need a room key to get through the gate so i felt okay leaving my car there for the week. We were so happy with it we are actually staying there again in august.

I know you've already left, but i'll post this for future cruisers as well. Once our driver showed up things went smoothly but getting them there was troublesome. They were almost 40 minutes late, luckily one of the other cab drivers there was kind enough to call them for me. When the driver arrived he said that he had just dropped off another group. I'm not so sure of that because while i was listening to phone call it sounded like they had just forgotten about us. I can't say that I'd use them again at this point.

My wife and I ( mid 30's) usually do all inclusive's but decided to try a cruise and take along our 4 year old daughter. We are doing the 5 day to the Bahamas. We have an ocean view room, are going to buy the cheers program ( we like to drink ) and the bubbles program for our daughter. We booked the early dinner time. Have booked day passes at the RIU in Nassau and were planning on staying on the boat in Freeport except to maybe go out and grab lunch and drinks. Questions can we bring on a extension cord/power strip? Just like all inclusive's does over tipping the bar and wait staff with cash get you VIP service. On cheers can u buy drinks out side of the program as long as you haven't hit 15 yet? Say I get to 13 and its early can i buy a few and have them not count toward my 15. Smoking? Where can you smoke? Does the casino pay out decent compared to casinos in the states? What entertainment/shows are the best? Do they have any that kids would enjoy? Is the kids program fun for the kids? Is there a fridge in the room? We already ordered water and a bottle of booze. Any answers or tips would be greatly appreciated. Also any advice would be great
We were able to take a power strip with us last week, but my mom does have a C-Pap so that may be why they didn't question it. You can smoke on the Starboard side of the Lido deck and in the casino (bar outside casino as well). As far as entertainment they had two shows, The Brits / Motor City, both were pretty good. :)

You'll need to take a hairdryer on Fantasy class ships. ;)
No you don't, we sailed the Fantasy last week and we just asked for one. The room steward brought it within a couple of minutes.

Btw I'll be on this cruise! So excited!
I'm beyond excited and it's our 4th cruise, third time on the Fantasy! lol I'm really looking forward to HMC again!

Thank you both for the replies! Helps out alot! :)

Has anyone been on the Fantasy lately that could answer a question for me? We have 2 newbies joining us this time around and I'd like for them to have the full Carnival experience which includes the waiters/waitresses dancing. :) We have ATD so I'm not sure when to go to dinner for them to see this. Does anyone have approximate times they'd like to share? Any help would be appreciated! Only 5 more days!!!! :D

I'm not sure when you are going but if it's after next week i will be able to tell you how everything went for me. I just booked a personal tour for 4 people for $50 per hour with Cheryls Bahamas Taxi and tours. All the reviews seem to be really good which is always a plus!

I would say it's definitely worth it! We purchased it on our cruise last time and it made things so much easier, from checking in to getting on one of the first tenders. Everything went smoothly. We'll continue to purchase until we hit Platinum. lol:D:D

Stuart Coves in Nassau is awesome! I plan on going for the 2nd time next month. :) While I didn't scuba dive I did go on the snorkeling excursion which included swimming with sharks.
-
It's not needed in Charleston unless you have a tender port. Like everyone else has said, it doesn't take long to get on board without it.
-
Thanks for the replies! I mainly just wanted to get a picture of the ship with the lights on. I'm not to keen on being in Nassau late at night either. lol
-
For those of you that have been on the ships during the concert I have a question. Our itinerary is saying we'll be in port until 1159, my question is do they allow you to stay off the ship till around 9 or so?

Sorry for hijacking the thread but is there anyway to send him a private message? The way fb is set up now everybody can see when you post to someones page. And there are specific someones I want to surprise but I'm afraid they'll see it!

I received $60 onboard credit last night and I've had my cruise paid off! Definitely doesn't hurt to check! :)
-
They did 2 years ago because we booked that excursion. I just looked at the list of excursions and it looks like it may have been replaced by Balmoral Island? You could see if you could book independently though. :) I tried that but since Carnival offered it we weren't able to, but since it's not listed this time around it might be worth a shot to ask!

The last time i was on the Fantasy we had a room under the galley and I never heard anything. Maybe this was the one week they didn't work, I don't know. lol But since there were three of us in the room, i was the one in the bunk so if anybody would have heard the slightest sound it would have been me.

So glad I saw this post! I have a cruise to pay for so now I'll have more money to spend (lose) in the casino with the money i'm saving! lol :D

Is there anyone that can tell me about the Holiday Inn Express Hwy 17 & I 526 in Charleston? I have looked around here but haven't seen anything about this hotel. If anyone can help i'd appreciate it! :)

I have used this method of packing for the last 2 cruises plus vacations in between. I'm just sorry I didn't see it sooner! Last couple of cruises i've packed for 7 day cruises for two people in one suitcase! :D

We had FTTF on our Conquest cruise and it was totally worth from the check in process to debarkation. For Charleston though I don't know about it unless you'll be going to a tender port. I've been to that port two times and for check in I don't see how it would be useful. But with that being said we are going on the Fantasy next August and I will be purchasing it only because Half Moon Cay is on the itinerary. The less waiting to get to that island the better! :D
