  1. Just a follow up to my post. I was so curious to know, so I decided to just check in and see it on my boarding pass. I usually do the boarding pass last minute, like two days before the cruise. So as it turns out, it stated that I am platinum on it, so I am excited for the extra perks, such as the priority embarkation. This is a great surprise, as I really thought the perks will only come after I complete the cruise.

That is awesome! I look forward to the day that I'm platinum but I have a few more cruises to take before that happens!

  2. We don't give money at the beginning of the cruise but we do leave candy for the room steward. The past two cruises we've done that and they were very appreciative of it. We didn't expect to get better service from it, we just did it because we wanted to. We left them a small baggy of candy along with the towel animal. Of course at the end of the cruise we did give them extra money as well.

  3. We used it earlier this month and it was totally worth it! We got to skip that never ending line to check in. :) Then when we walked straight through the waiting area where they call you to board we were able to go straight to the ship from there. :D You feel like a celebrity cutting lines. lol It was really helpful when we had to go to guest services, there was never a line as long as we had that nice little sticker on the back of our card. We had two tender ports, that alone made it worth the money in my opinion. You go to guest services and they walk you down to board the tender. So all in all I would definitely do it again!

  4. Do they pick you up at the airport and shuttle you to the port ?

They do offer it to and from the airport but I didn't use it so I can't comment. We did use the shuttle to the port which left just a few minutes after 11, that was the earliest one they had. It was $20 for the two of us to take the shuttle to the port, but I can't say about coming back. They do give you the number to call when you get back from your cruise so they can pick you up, but we ended up docking at another terminal. It was less hassle to just grab a cab back to the hotel which ended up being $25.

  5. I recently stayed at the Hampton Inn Blue Lagoon and can tell you from what I saw it was relatively safe place to stay. There's a grocery store across the street along with a few places to eat (I highly recommend the Cuban restaurant!) :) As far as parking goes it was very secure, they have a parking garage that you can only have access to with your room key to gain entry. I left my car here for 7 days and everything was perfectly fine when I got back. I'll definitely stay here again during my next trip!, But I'll upload some photos so you can see for yourself. :)

  7. I just got off that sailing yesterday and they had at least one wine tasting during the cruise, possibly two, I'll have to check the fun times. I plan on writing a review but I'm still trying to get used to this whole land thing again. lol You know I had a cup sitting beside me last night and nobody ever picked it up!

  8. They have a different ramp now. We used to board below Riviera deck but Charleston got an actual gangplank system now where you enter inside the atrium instead of going straight into that elevator up to lido. Much nicer and I love the sound it makes when your luggage rolls across it! :)

It was kind of steep. Not sure of alternative boarding but perhaps contacting the special needs department at Carnival will help out.

Can't wait to test it out next Saturday! Ohhh that sounds so good......next saturday! :D

  9. I understand there's a long ramp to board Fantasy in Charleston. Are there any alternatives for the handicapped? I'm not sure my DW could hand the ramp. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

I can't remember how long the ramp was since it was 2 years ago but I do know that you have to go up alot of steps. Although I'm pretty sure there was an elevator there somewhere.

  10. We're looking for the same thing. I've done the 6 day and have those, but the 7 day would be nice!

I will be on the 7 day Fantasy cruise in just 30 days! :D If nobody posts them then I can do it when I get back. Along with lots of pictures. lol

  11. Best Western @ Patriots Point is a good hotel. I have stayed there several times. We had stayed there when my youngest was having medical issues and was at MUSC plus stayed there on 1st cruise. They do call a cab.

Since the 1st cruise moved over across the street to the Rodeway (we have never had any issues with the hotel or rooms) and the rate is cheaper plus they do pay for the transportation to the port.

Really? I might go check into that one then. Any money saved means more money for the slot machine. lol
