  1. Hello Jack,

Just to re-iterate and add a little more information on this post which I've just come across -

My holiday diary reminds me that the Fuji-like cone is that of Mount Osorno and the shimmering lake is Llanqihue in the Chilean Lake District (although curiously the area is associated with settlers from Germany rather than New England). The falls are Petrohue Falls. You probably drove from Puerto Montt through Puerto Varas to the shores of the lake. If you also visited Frutillar (where you might have enjoyed some kuchen or apfelstrudel), two other volcanoes may have been pointed out to you - Puntiaguido and Tronador (the latter, our guide informed us, is actually in Argentina).

    Regards

    Jak

I have to agree with JakTar, Frutillar is a very pleasant surprise - a totally unexpected treat in that part of the country.

  2. The Ben & Jerry's sweet is only on the 3 Freedom class ships, stateroom number 6305. It is located right over the Ben & Jerry's venue, and the view is partially obstructed by the Ben & Jerry's cow mounted right outside the window. Because of the obstruction, Royal gives the occupants 2 coupons per day for free ice cream. The stateroom also gets concierge lounge access, though I'm not 100% sure this is true on all 3 ships.

Very cool...two per person, or two per day per cabin?

  3. I would LOVE to sail on Regent! Actually, I am already working on a financial plan and a budget to accomplish that. My plan involves our local community bank and a note that says, "place all your nonsequential $50 and $100 bills in this bag -and NO die pack!

LOL. I guess this means you think Regent is a bit on the expensive side.:D Sorry to hear that there will be no Viking review - I bet it would have been interesting.

  4. It really is a great itinerary. We are thinking about doing it again in order to catch the ports we missed because of our collision. Both HAL and Princess are doing the Buenos Aires to Santiago run this year. Princess is using the Star - which we have been on twice and is a great ship. HAL is using the Veendam, of which we have no experience.

    Enjoy!

We have sailed on the Star in South America and can attest that it is a great experience.

  5. It is easy. When you are in the thread reading the responses, look to the top of the thread and you will see "Thread Tools" Click on it and a drop down will come up. Pick "Subscribe to this thread". Follow the directions and whenever anyone posts to this thread, you will get an email. This way you won't miss anything on the thread.

    Enjoy,

    Jeanne

That really works! I wonder why they don't let people know about this. It is so much easier than having to look for strings you have posted on. Thank-you.
