  1. I was wondering what is NCL’s policy for those passengers who have recovered recently from Covid?
Since you can test positive up to 90 days after a positive result, you may have a positive test 48 hours prior to sailing.

What proof needs to be shown to say you are safe to travel?
If anyone has experience with this I would love to know the answer. Or please post the link to read

Yes this is what bothers me.  Especially on the return trip to Canada.  You can get in with proof you had COVID prior 14 days prior to return but we cant get proof via a PCR test in Alberta right now.

Fellow Albertan here, just wondering if you paid to have a PCR test at a pharmacy or clinic would they be able to give you the proof you need to show you tested positive more than two weeks prior of return back to Canada ?

I have been following this thread....  I have taken the leap and ordered the Switch Health PCR test for return to Canada.   I will be on the Encore for the week of Jan 30-Feb6.    However I will be upgrading the internet to unlimited streaming ( I like streaming music).

I will update once I complete the test .

I will be looking forward to your update. I spoke with Switch health and asked if this could be completed while we were on our cruise or if it had to be completed in the US before we fly back to Canada , here is the reply

    “you can complete it anywhere
doesn't matter as long as its done
    before entry into Canada these
    are meant to take anywhere”

Has anyone recently done a post-cruise PCR test upon disembarkation, especially in LAX?  We need to do one to travel home (Canada) and need it done once off ship, but before our flight at 1:20pm same day.  We're on Bliss Feb 4 from Miami to LAX.  NCL is telling us they have a system ready, which we have to pay for (of course).

    Any experiences appreciated!

Please post after your cruise to what you chose to do. We will be flying home from LAX in early March. Right now I’m leaning towards ordering the Switch Health LAMP test.

Glad I ordered the RT Lamp tests from Switch health to use before we disembark from the Feb 8 sailing of the Enchanted Princess. They’re already packed in my carry on before our flight down to FLL on Sunday.

Are you planning on doing your tests on the ship or when you are back in the US? I am debating if we should do this at port one day (48 hours before we disembark ) or when we are back in the US.

I just registered on switch health and received this email

“Due to a surge in demand for testing across the country, caused by rising cases of the Omicron variant of COVID-19, all jurisdictions are currently experiencing longer than normal wait times for results. At Switch Health, our front-line healthcare staff and laboratory partners are working around the clock to process results as quickly as possible, given current limitations. We appreciate your patience while we work together to limit the spread of COVID-19”

It doesn't give me that options...  it list a bunch of Provinces and countries.

I received my quote over the phone, I never did it online. I told the agent where we were cruising. Here is the phone number of the agent I spoke with:

    1-866-707-4361 ext 119

We found Manulife to be better

  7. Looking for advice from anyone who has used the COVID-19 RT-LAMP Test Kit before arriving back to Canada.

We are doing a Mexican Riveria cruise and I was thinking of doing this while in one of the ports which would be 48 or 72 hours prior to flying back to Canada.

Please share your experience and/or thoughts on this test as NCL is no longer testing international passengers who require a PCR to get back to their countries

Try TUGO, they have good coverage that includes cruise

We looked into TUGO , TUGO gives $150/day per person and Manulife is $200/day.

TUGO also does not have trip interruption with the travel plan,  Manulife does.

I've been looking on line at the "video proctor testing kits" (like SwitchHealth) and this seems to be the best option to order and bring with us - they are roughly $139pp CDN. We don't want to chance not being able to find a lab that might not be able to get us our results in-time for our evening flight

Are you just planning on doing these tests after you disembark and are back in the US? I was looking at these as well, wondering if we will have our results back, we have a 2:45pm flight back to Canada

And, I called our insurance carrier. If one of us tests positive and the other negative, expenses for hotel, meals and flight change fees are only covered for the person who tested positive. The other is expected to fly home. That would definitely be a worse case scenario.

We are taking some rapid antigen tests with us and will test ourselves periodically. Not perfect but hopefully will put our minds at ease when we are getting closer to that final return test at the pier.

What insurance provider did you go with? We will taking rapids tests with us as well

We will be sailing out of Miami on Feb 2 on the Getaway. We plan to stay at the port until our test results come back. I can report back after our return on Feb 11 re how the whole process worked.

Thank you that would be appreciated, I was hoping they would’ve continued with the onboard PCR test so we had the results before disembarking

  12. We are cruising with NCL the beginning of March out of San Pedro and I want to make sure I understand everything we have to do before and after - pretty sure I have the before figured out , now for the after,

NCL no longer does the PCR test onboard instead it’s port side after disembarking at our own expense.

Can anyone tell me who has done this how this process goes? The website says we will have results within 90 minutes , we were hoping to fly back to Canada on an afternoon flight.

Worst case scenario one of us tests positive after we arrived at the airport - then what ??

Actually, this is not correct.  Under the NCL's current "Peace of Mind" policy, you can cancel any cruise scheduled through May, but only if canelled by January 31st.  We confirmed this through both NCL and our travel agent.

This is why I was asking, our PCC told me something different. I was told as long as we booked before Jan 31st we could cancel our cruise in March a few days before … I guess I’ll be asking again or calling NCL

As long as folks remember the Peace of Mind cancellation end next week for cruises through May.

With the Peace of Mind policy in place, can you cancel anytime up to the sail date on any cruise departing before May if booked before Jan 31st?
